Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

He’ll surely contradict all that shit once his career is over. And I assume that he’ll be back with WWE down the line in some capacity

He could have easily said working with Christian is the most fun he’s had in pro wrestling and it would have been better and more believable

Also I’d do the same if I owned AEW, but them trying to profit from WWE being so hot right now is a bit embarrassing to watch. AEW have done nothing to make Wrestling relevant again

How are they trying to profit from WWE?

Punk publicly trashed AEW to a large audience. They have addressed it without addressing Punk directly and moved on.

I’ve seen a few of them reference how pro wrestling is getting popular again. Which it is, but no thanks to them

I'm really struggling to see the link between AEW "profiting from WWE" and a few people saying pro wrestling is popular again?

Do AEW publish their accounts do we know? Curious about how much money they are making.

Seems like they have their niche and they’re happy with that, which is fine, but it’s never going to grow beyond that it seems. The clips doing the rounds of them responding to punk just makes them seem petty and childish, which tbf punk probably is too, not really watched much of the interview.

I don’t mean financially profit, if that’s where you’re getting confused. I mean profit through referencing it and getting attention on their own product. Again, I’d do the same.

Same way all these clubs that suddenly become relevant want to make United their main rivals, because then they get second hand attention

It’s just embarrassing to watch because with the billionaire’s crybaby son, AEW shouldn’t need to rely on it so much

They don't but that doesn't stop the IWC speculating AEW's finances.

Why wouldn't they? It's an important part of the wrestling business. I can't imagine they're making big money, if they're making money at all.
These days it's all about top line. Build up the revenue to increase the value to get bought out by someone else. I'm sure top line is growing healthily.

Their finances don't matter anyway. As long as Tony Khan wants it to be in operation then it will carry on.

I’m in the UK. Can I get WWE Network for a month, watch WM and then cancel it straight away? And how much will it cost

I think it was pretty clear that the poster above said they are using the momentum of the past few months built by the wwe with Edge rephrasing "the professional wrestling is cool again".

How can someone get offended by and defensive about that opinion?

Disagreeing with someone means offended and defensive? Jesus wept what's even the point of a discussion board.

Yes, as @SalfordRed18 mentioned. Ive not really had any issues with the network in UK either. Its been pretty solid (maybe about 15 seconds behind 'live' live.)

They are probably losing money. Reports suggested they were in line to make profit before the pandemic hit. Since then, theyve had big expenses on signing a shit load of talent, the ROH purchase, and the game. It hasnt been offset by PPV gates or PPV buys. I think their shows not being sold out like they were at the beginning is a bummer.

TBF, Punk said the good outweighed the bad. (He had more positives than negatives about his time there)

Just give up on here mate seriously. I don't bother much any more in here either. Came to realise that this thread is pretty much the IWC and just cbb with it. Enjoy what you enjoy but don't expect other people to accept it.

Mania weekend starts at 5pm for me. Gonna watch Takeover New York 2019, few hype vids then the go home smackdown. I imagine hall of fame is on straight after too, can't wait.

Feel like mania weekend is like Christmas for wrestling fans. Or just me

The last few years I've always dozed off during Mania, a combination of it being a bit shit and me being in my 30s.

I'm determined to stay the course for both nights this year.

End of the Bloodline Era, start of the Renaissance era?

With all the swearing and less scripty promos it does feel like when it gets onto Netflix (and less rules) it may indeed have a Renaissance...

Leaving aside Bischoff trolling Tony Khan, AEW remind me of United. Buying "big names" and getting feck all return from them.

Mania weekends are always awesome. Hope Raw after is better than the crap we got last year (although wasn't vince heavily involved haha)

More swearing here with AJ and LA Knight's Weatherspoons-esque brawl.

That was depressing.

Mania weekend last year was weird. Everyone was on a high after night 1, then got served up utter shite night 2 bar 1 or 2 matches. Edge beat Finn balor for why. And then the Raw after mania was brutal. Utter gash and stunk of McMahon.

Painfully obvious which posters spend their evenings listening to Jim Cornette.

As far as I can see non public US companies don't have to publish any stat accounts, unlike here, so it's just speculating. You do expect them to be making heavy losses, not just because they're a relatively new company entering a market with a dominant player, but Tony Khan just comes across as a kid playing with his dad's money. From so much we've seen and what Punk has said, there doesn't seem to be many adults in the room to have that place running properly. But then it doesn't need to be as long as daddy Khan is willing to make up the losses.

The thing about AEW viewing figures is this, people largely didn't want AEW they wanted WWE to be better, as soon as WWE got rid of Vince and got better AEW has struggled for viewing figures and live attendance thats no coincidence in my opinion.

Also AEW's booking is well interesting to say the least Jay White being buried by a 60+ Billy Gunn is certainly a bold move and Edge's promo was just meh and the viewing figures bear that out over 170k people turned off at that point.
