Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Im certain he wanted to do this earlier, but then all those accusations and stuff came out about Flair. So basically it was delayed, but still signed. Crazy.

He's a mark with more money than sense. Said it before, he's the biggest issue with AEW.

Big Show looks in grim shape these days. His lower half is contorted.

Worse than angles knees before he retired.

I do not want to see big show wrestle in 2023 looking like that. Heart will be in mouth for the entire match.

Cena never lost it tbf

Aew is going away from what it should be. Long term stories and build, the younger guys focus etc.
I understand if somebody like Adam copeland is available. And putting focus on Christian has been great (I'm biased to them)
I just don't get the time they've spent on flair, jarrett, having matt Hardy on shows etc.

Wow Logan Paul is US Champ! What a strange decision.

He did do this great save on what could have been a bad fall for Ray.

Rey faking that "botch" to massively put over Logan by the way. Way too choreographed, but it's a big deal for Rey to do that for him.

Also, that's got to be the end of LA Knight's main event career, that was hideous.

Do WWE have to do interference in every single match?

So predictable. Remember when they’d throw a curveball now and then. Now every match is predictable

I hope not re: LA Knight! Always tough in your first main event. Haven’t seen the match but the social media reaction has been positive on the whole. I still believe he can do big things! He’s still massively over. Let’s see where they take him from here. Seemed to work out well for Cody after his loss.

Called this month ago. I reckon if they were more confident of him beating Dillon Danis they'd have put it on him before the fight rather than just the call out.

This doesnt happen. You dont risk falling right on your head trusting them to catch you right before as a wau to put someone over

The Cena vs Solo match was very well done. Paul as much as i don't like him is genuinely good as a heel.

Everything else I thought was somewhere between meh and cringeworthy.

Reigns - it's completely pointless him having title matches outside of Wrestlemania and even when he (eventually) loses there, I'm way past caring.

They’ve had to create a new title due to making the ones Reigns has so meaningless and now they don't seem to want to take the new one off Rollins either. They've already got Gunther as permanent intercontinental Champ. Your champions aren't supposed to all be invincible. The whole point of titles in pretend fighting is surely to create investment/intrigue or build a story.

Agreed, that's one of the dumbest things I've heard in a while respectively. You're not going to purposely put yourself in a position that will highly likely leave you with a broken neck at best. He clearly just botched and lucky for him Logan was switched on.

I like that from Hangman. A Tully makes me want to watch them fight.

I like Swerve too and glad they're pushing him a bit. Thought he was the one carrying Hit Row in NXT and he's been good ever since being in AEW.

Not sure of why WWE let him go as I don't really follow that closely but remember thinking it was odd.

Never really liked Hangman. Just looked like a bigger version of Adam Cole with less than half the charisma, but he's nailing it right now. More of this please Im engaged.

I like swerve in the ring but I think he needs more to his character. His gimmick is cool black guy, realistically how far can that go?
It was sorta hinted he'd go into HOB which I thought would have been very interesting but hey ho.

Disgusting, for sure.

That’s what AEW is though, no time to tell a story or learn ring psychology. Just body on the line, breakneck speed, pushing crazy boundaries on every show.

High spots mean nothing because they are so constant, so you have to push the envelope more and more, even on weekly shows.

Roster appears to be uncoachable though. There are enough stories to have us believe that they already think they know it all.

A comment I seen elsewhere;

"LA Knight gets a bigger pop just saying his own name than these guys will get for this."

Why do it? It's just a crap spot.

Absolutely. They even have examples in their own promotion with the whole Daddy scissors bit and MJF with his kangaroo kick.

They are just so entrenched in the belief that this is what wrestling is, they won’t listen to those that have done it so much better for so many years.

As long as that niche still pops for a 450 onto glass, they are happy. That audience will never grow though, and after a while, even they will stop reacting to it.

I know this might be a pretty hard concept to grasp, but there isn't a correct way to wrestle. Folks like watching different things.

I'm fairly certain its a vocal minority of wrestling fans, but there's a section that foam at the mouth at anything AEW does. Always an expert in what AEW should be doing.

I am reminded of why I don't read this thread anymore.

You're right it's definitely the minority. The thought of every match being 10 Canadian destroyers followed by 15 false finished grew old about 3 months after it debuted. Fair play to anyone who likes it but for me it's fecking ridiculous.

Now Tony is left paying out of his ass for the current roster that can't sell 4k tickets in a 18k+ arena on a weekly basis. I don't care how rich he is sooner or later it will catch up with him.

AEW fans only hurt themselves by refusing to criticize the product. There is absolutely no reason why people wouldn’t want a viable alternative product.

You are absolutely correct that different people like different things, but there is a very definite art to wrestling, and it’s lost in what AEW does. That’s why the tickets sales are down and the audiences are dwindling despite the backing and presentation they can put on.

The athleticism is incredible, don’t get me wrong, but no one wants to go to the circus and see the acrobats every week. They do, however, want to watch drama, stories and invest in characters. AEW doesn’t do enough of that, in my opinion.

The shock and awe of people falling on their heads and drinking blood can only last so long.

There’s no way this is a minority. Not with a company losing viewers week in, week out.

Said it before, Id love to get behind Darby but his ring gear is so shit.

Another great ppv. Swerve v Hangman was a banger and a proper blood feud. Angry Hangman is the best Hangman.

Only match I skipped through was Bucks v Jericho/Omega. I'm tired of the first 3 now and Kenny really needs to go back to singles matches.

Osprey signing was no surprise but great to see. Main event potentially at Wembley in August?

Despite some valid points the MJF and Adam Cole bromance has been pretty epic and better than anything elsewhere over the past few months (even if they did happen to stumble across it).

That comment only goes so far. There is a correct way to wrestle which is why you're taught to do it and most of your favourites are doing it a good 10 years before they're in a top company.

The way to "correctly" wrestle is to put your opponent's safety first and only do what you've practiced to have a high degree of success. And then your own safety.

Also and this must just be my opinion because they're all doing it but dont hit your head when you dont need to and especially not every match. You can do it safely and make it look good without risking current or long term health and anyone who does want to see it wont care about you or help you out if you end up in a wheelchair or paralyzed from it.

Both WWE and AEW provide a variety of styles in their matches. I think AEW's range is further sure, but WWE does all the stuff minus one or two types of matches or elements. The main one being blood because of their TV networks not wanting it.

Tbh I still find the AEW shows more entertaining than any episode of Raw since about 2001.

I do think all the over the top spots in every single match are a bit much and wish they would put more focus on the story telling for the TV shows and maybe save the crazy for the ppvs, but at least Dynamite is usually fun.

It's not like there's no story telling either. MJF/Cole has run a long time. Christian has pretty much constantly been feuding with someone, Hangman and Swerve. It's not that it isn't there. It just gets lost in the need to dial every match to 11/10.

I feel they're on to a no win with that now as well because if they did suddenly tone it down a lot of the audience might tone down with it.

I think they put on a good ppv but the weekly tv is trash. I completely turned off a few months ago when every episode opened with Orange Cassidy, AEW must just not be for me because I’ve been watching wrestling a long time and that is the worst gimmick I’ve ever seen and I was a fan of wwf in the 90’s. Unwatchable.
