Yes! MJF v Switchblade! Should be a feud and match for the ages. AEW have done much better with Jay than I thought they would tbf Pushed him straight away and have now got him in the main event with their star man which is absolutely the right move. Could even see him winning the title.

On that note I don't think they've missed a beat (last week's injuries and feck ups aside) since Punk went. Really enjoying it at the moment on every show.

Yep this is the feud that should be done while MJF is face. They were the two best heels outside WWE and now MJF is super over as a face, so make the most of it and give him the other top heel. Its also the freshest thing for him

MJF and Jay White has serious potential, and I enjoyed their promo back and forth - most other wrestlers wouldn't have been able to come back from MJF's roasting there.

Don't really agree on the second part - saying they haven't missed a beat is very generous, and personally I'm pretty disappointed in the direction that Collision is going given how good it was - but I agree that the big stories are going along really nicely. MJF is fantastic as always, the stuff with him and Cole can keep bubbling along for a while hopefully, Christian is doing some career best work, and Toni Storm is on fire with her new character.

Apparently Christian vs Darby Allin is the main event, hopefully that means Edge will make his debut after the match.

One of my biggest pet peeves in wrestling; Having a PPV main event be a tag match or a match for a secondary title. It immediately makes the event feel second rate.

However, "You think you know me" is probably gonna hit so that's why it's going on last.

WWE are onto something with Smackdown. It's fun every week lately even with the bloodline stuff becoming a bit trash.

I think it depends, because you want other titles to be seen as still top level titles like WWE are doing with the ic title.
The last ppv having the international title as the main event was the right call.
Sorta like UFC. But ya gotta make it work.

As for the spoiler / prediction, that would be a great get for aew. Think it would more than soften the blow with regards to Jade.

Smackdown has been great for the most part imo. Jimmy uso imo is the one misstep but involving Cena, aj styles and la knight was a great move.

Big name for AEW to get. Makes sense from that perspective. I just hope he's used to get other guys exposure rather than him constantly going for titles and bigger name matches against other former WWE talent

Nah I think he should be going for titles - he's a huge star and should be used as one of the faces of the entire company.

I don't want to see him in random mid-card fueds - not at first anyway.

Edge is a game changer in terms of star power and pull. Think I'll give AEW a try this Wednesday.

I enjoyed Wrestledream more than I expected to, although there was still a fair bit that was filler, I'm just not interested in most random matches with the folks from Japan that haven't had a proper build.

MJF is great, as always, he has absolutely everything. TBS title match was surprisingly good, the tag team mash up was fine, some good moments as always, although the Bucks didn't need the win at all and you know they'll want the win back against FTR so that's pretty heavily telegraphed. Swerve is also brilliant, a star in the making. Danielson vs ZSJ I didn't expect to enjoy, but it was masterful, the counter-for-counter for stuff really sucked me in, even though the result was obvious, they did a good enough job to put a little doubt in my mind.

I just don't get Ibushi though, I don't see anything in him that gets him on TV. He seems so bland, and his thing of no-selling opponents punches, which makes the punches look obviously fake, the whole thing just looks awful.

As for the main event, it was a great twist with Nick Wayne, Christian is at the very top of his game, him and Edge together should be absolutely magical. I've been pretty down on AEW recently after losing Punk, and the unbearable nature of some of the fanbase, but Christian, MJF, Cole, and Jay White have kept me interested. Now I'm excited to see where they go with Edge too. The only criticism I have is that the "you think you know me" just sounds wrong!

Edges debut was really fun, but just annoying that it was so obviously going to happen. Before the dirtsheets and reddit where you legit had no idea when contracts were up etc, that would have been absolutely awesome. But if I'm honest, I only watched wrestledream for it.

I expect him to be around for a year, maybe two. Think this was always in his plans from day dot. He wants his matches with Christian, Omega, Danielson, Mox, Cole etc. Get those then head back to WWE around this time, just intime for one last mania season and retire on his back at mania, comeback complete.

That's what I imagine his plan is too, he'll get a few quid more from WWE for having done this jump (and I'm sure he's milking Tony too), I imagine him and Christian will both end up at WWE for a HOF induction and a brief run before they put their boots up.

What did you think of the PPV? Anything beyond Edge that grabbed your interest? For me it seemed like a pretty poor PPV to capture much casual or unfamiliar interest.

Gonna start sending this to people when their father passes away

This is so stupid but I couldn't help but laugh. Christian Cage is genuinely one of my favourite things in wrestling at the moment.

Wasnt for me personally, most of the matches I had no interest in. Enjoyed Danielson/ZSJ. Enjoyed the 6 man with DC family, and enjoyed the main event.

Outside that, it was all skippable IMO.

But boy, forgetting about all the dream matches. One last Edge and Christian Vs Hardy Boyz, is something I'll be sure to tune into.

Yeah that's fair, I didn't really enjoy the 6 man, it's a waste of Omega, and a waste of Ospreay, who should both be used in singles roles, but the other two you mention were great.

I did think the Swerve Hangman match was good too, with the right winner.

EDIT: Honestly I hope they don't re-run the Hardy's match, those two can barely move nowadays, unless they bring up Lita to really turn up the heat, then I don't think there's a story there that'll make up for how bad Matt and Jeff are in the ring nowadays.

Lads I never said it be a good match

I'm sure as hell gonna watch it mind.

Christian has always been great - I never understood why Vince/WWE didn't see him as a top guy (well obviously him thinking he was ugly didn't help!).

He was a top guy though, he had a great feud with Orton last time I really watched WWE. Even in AEW now he isn’t in the main event picture but nobody is saying he isn’t a top performer

I've always liked Christian too, but think he didn't really have the look of a true main eventer for what the WWE usually have. He was really good around the time he had a feud with Orton for the WHC. It's a shame Edge was retired at that point.

I think Edge to AEW makes sense. Other than his initial return in the rumble, I don't think his return to WWE was all that interesting/memorable.

Absolute stellar ppv as usual. Will need to rewatch Danielson v ZSJ again and haven't seen the pre show either.

Shame the main event surprise appearance was telegraphed somewhat but it was still fun.

Christian, Swerve and Switchblade are the top heels in AEW now that MJF is a huge baby face. All are great on the mic and in the ring so deserve to be pushed to the moon. Expect Cole will be heel again as well not so long after he returns from injury but we'll see.

Speaking of MJF there was a rare chance to catch him not in character (mostly) during the post show scrum. Some interesting comments from him, particularly about the different 'flavours' of wrestling and basically how he's able to get totally dumb moves over like the Rock could just on charisma alone...

feck's happened to the embedding on this site anyway?

Makes me think, is the People's Elbow the most time-consuming finisher in wrestling? The pose, kick the shoulder, arm criss-cross, bounce off both ropes and elbow drop.

Sweet Chin Music and "tuning up the band" is another one.

Nah that one makes sense cus you're waiting for your opponent to get up.

Christian always had the tools to be a top guy, he's great on the mic and a good worker, but I don't thing he was quite big enough to be one in Vince's eyes really. If he had Edge's height it may have been different.

It's great he's being given the chance to show his talent in AEW, his entire run there has been great, and his current heel work is career best. Aside from MJF he's easily the most entertaining person on the roster at the moment.

Next week dynamite and NXT are going head to head and NXT thus far is looking STACKED.

Cena, Cody, Heyman and Asuka are all set to appear.

Will probably be Edges first match on dynamite.

Yeah, these AEW PPVs man. You grow up watching WWE and you’d never think shows like this are consistently possible. I watched hundreds of PPVs ranging from poor to mediocre, sometimes good, rarely great. Even if the booking leaves something to be desired getting there, they more often than not deliver on the night. Three great matches all with hometown boys: Strickland, Danielson and Allin.

Christian Cage is just on another level right now. I cannot remember the last time I was begging another babyface to kick out at the end of that main event like that. I was being completely and utterly worked.

Hopefully Copeland’s time in AEW is well spent. Lots of potential programmes.
