Why do you hope that it isn't??
Seems like WWE lite. They got it over so we’ll have our own. I’d love for AEW to be innovative. Weirdly enough I don’t think they take enough chances when their fanbase would be very forgiving if they tried.
They had a random Rumble on Rampage not that long ago, if theyre going to steal anything they should straight rip that off imo. MITB cash ins are a bit tired these days anyway

They have that Jokers Wild thing, where people are put into a deck of cards, very confusing, and I don't see the relevance of who is a spade, or a different card.....

Blood and Guts is just a blatant War Games rip off, so yeah I agree they do need to try to find something of their own.

If people had to say who will cash in their respective opportunity first, and will either be successful at doing so, Theory with his briefcase, or MJF with his casino chip??

It will be MJF obviously. The whole thing is geared up for him to take the title and that's half the trouble because it's too obvious there's no jeopardy in the Mox/Hangman storyline which I'm actually really starting to like.

Really good Dynamite this week as well. Best one in a long time with a really hot crowd. Pac and OC seem to have great chemistry together and the womens tag match was a banger with 4 of the best on the current roster.

I hope the chip isn't like money in the bank, mainly because I've always hated the whole cash in idea.

It's just a half baked way to protect the champion while losing, but it starts the new reign on weak footing and forces a cowardly cheating heel approach. It can work occasionally, but when it becomes the same thing year after year the last thing we need is 2 companies doing it.

Okay, so what else could the chip be used as?

Impact at least had a unique way of getting around it with their "Feast or Fired" briefcases for a short period of time, (then created "Option C"), at the moment it does seem AEW are going down the blatant rip off category (just as they have done with "Blood and Guts" being a "War Games" rip off).

AEW does seem to be running out of steam, in terms of coming up with new ideas of their own.

I thought we'd already established that it is?

I'll address the first part of your post, as the compulsive AEW bashing is irrelevant.

The chip has been around for a couple of years, and the idea is that it gives someone the opportunity to skip the rankings and challenge for the title. No reason to change that, it works well and the "cashing in on an opponent who's weakened" has been basically every MITB cash in since its inception, I'll be really disappointed if AEW start doing it too.

Yeah, Chip has always been challenge for the belt (and done in advance). Its never been a 'cash in'.

Its a shame how the rankings have just been dropped.

Caught up on Dynamite. Crowd was damn hot. Always good when they go to new markets
Renee looks great. as always.

Billy Gunn must be the most over hes been since saying suck it. Which is still funny that suck it and scissor me are his two biggest things in wrestling.
The ROH title match was great. But yet another title match loss for Danielson.

That was Hangmans best promo forever.

Cassidy winning the title. Meh, im not bothered either way. But they should just have Miro come in and smash him for the title.

The womens match was good. Glad Shida is back, but every week they just mix up women in tag matches. That division needs something, and not just signings. But direction. I hope theyre not waiting for Thunder Rosa to return to start the Hayter turn on Brit. They should have that going on, and away from the title. Then just have a title program (so at least two womens stories).

To be fair they could always have a face cash it in for a title match at a ppv and win. WWE just like to repeat the same thing over and over. I don't mind it too much as it adds a bit of unpredictability even if it is a bit tired now.

Although at the moment it is completely pointless as they obviously aren't going to have Reigns lose his title to a cheap mitb cash in...but then I think that's part of the wider problem of making your champion untouchable rather than a mitb problem.

Guess main problem with the current mitb situation is, which title is he cashing in for? World? Universal? Both? Or has that been specified previously and I’ve not been paying attention?

One thing that I have noticed, and I could be wrong here, but are the two title storylines in AEW and NxT not very similar to each other?

Just watching Dynamite and you have Hangman and Moxley in the ring talking, with MJF watching from above, and that to me is very similar to JD in the stands watching Dragunov and Bron in the ring.

I wonder if both companies realise just how similar both segments were to each other??

Disagree about OC, he's been such a consistent performer for AEW, his character has come a long way from the guy-who-can't-be-bothered novelty, and he's always well supported. I'm like JR, thought he was rubbish originally and now I'm completely sold.

He deserves a bit of a run with the title, although your idea would be great in a couple of months!

That title is about as worthwhile as the 24/7 title, neither have any true value.

?

Pac is better than anyone who held the 24/7 title. So that instantly gives the title more credibility. Plus it doesnt have joke guys chasing after it

Its a travelling title so it'll be defended against AEW talent on shows, but will also go around defending it on the indies.

Errrrr......Orange is literally a joke character, with his pretend kicks etc....so yeah it matches the 24/7 title.
The 24/7 title was a travelling title, it was won on television sets, and a lot of other places as well.

The Bray entrance and promo was absolutely epic. Just like his fiend character for me he was the most interesting thing in wrestling.

Agree. I've pretty much not watched it since he left bar some big PPVs. Bray embodies the kind of persona, storytelling, mystique etc that I like in wrestling and makes me intrigued to watch again.

HHH is definitely pressing the Attitude Era nostalgia but with his own take on it. Factions are a bigger thing again, hopefully a couple join forces and Vinny Mac can make his long awaited return as the "Higher Power" to ruin everything.

He's a really good wrestler. Yes he obviously does a lot of comedy during his matches, which usually just confuses opponents rather than hurting them. But no he isnt a joke character. That would be something like maximum male models where they do their comedy bits, lose all the time and never get any respectable wins. Orange has been having good matches and been winning matches for many years.

The 24/7 title wasnt a wrestling title. It was an entertainment title. Thats why lots of non wrestlers held it

Isn't Orange teaming or something with the other joke character, the one that supposedly curses people?? Danhousen??

Sorry, but giving either of these two comedy wrestlers a title dramatically undermines and devalues such a title.

Weirdly enough I bought wwe network for a month to watch some of the early attitude era stuff.

Just got through the Raw where Kane and Austin dump Paul Bearer into a sewer.

What's interesting is that I thought it was a FAR more entertaining show than anything I've seen from either WWE or AEW in years, yet it would probably get absolutely slated now as there was barely anything more than a token attempt at a wrestling match, and Michaels, Austin and The Rock were the only ones not completely awful on the mic. The unpredictability and story telling of the actual show is what made it good viewing. There were 3-4 differentt feuds or stories that ran through the whole show.

You would think actually with a 3 hour show now WWE could incorporate all that while still having time for the actual wrestling. Especially as now the wrestlers in general have a lot more charisma and athletic ability.

Agreed about Bray, he's one of the very best talkers in wrestling, puts so much thought and effort into his characters and the lore around them.

So is Wrestling worth watching again? I think it’s been about 10 months or more since I really watched it. Seen little bits on YouTube and some stories and performers look quite interesting. Might dip a toe back in the water.

Saw Bray is back. Never really been a massive fan of his but mostly due to it seems like he just never ever wrestled. Promo, promo, mystique, heist, lose at PPV. Stories always started well then burned out or fell in to absolute nonsense.

Hopefully finally starts to show he deserves all the hype and adulation he gets by actually performing in the ring.

Wrestling or WWE?
Wrestling in general has been watchable with aew and some of the new Japan stuff. There is stuff out there which isn't hard to find and entertaining

For me WWE has become tolerable and somewhat enjoyable since hhh took over. I think also going to clash at castle lit something too. There's still some odd stuff but it seems more thought is being put into stories and the main storyline with the titles with bloodline has been great overall with the inclusion of Sami zayn

Looking forward to see what happens on Raw, for me the best parts now, are what hidden or subtle touches go on in the background of backstage interviews.

Whereas before under Vince they were all just throwaway things, with hardly any meaning, now under Papa HHH, there does seem to be more emphasis on having to really pay attention to them, and look to see what is going on behind who is being interviewed.
I like it, as it keeps the eyeballs on the product for far longer.

With regards to WWE Ive been semi lapsed for a while, just watching the PPV (sorry, PREMIUM) events but there are definitely encouraging signs now the HHH is running the show and its pulling me back in on a more regular basis, Id like t get more into AEW but just find the ITV app so fecking useless and buggy it ruins the experience for me and I tune out

Fite is good.

That reminds me, I know an absolutely vile website that has the cheek to stream all wrestling FOC. I've filled in a few reports. If i PM it to you, can you too report them and hopefully take these bastards down!

Please do, the more of us complain about this convenient and helpful evilness the better!

I think WWE is on BT Sport so you can keep up with it.

For AEW, the Fite app is what I use and it's great, it's something like £6 a month.

Knew Brock wouldn’t have a official match on raw, he never does, it’ll be at Crown Jewel,

stuff with the OC and judgement day is good.

Hangman nearly had his career ended last night just after Trent got dumped on his head and struggled to recover a year after neck fusion. Looked like a stinger.
Maybe everybody needs to slow down a bit.

To be fair the Hangman one was a routine clothesline - just a bit of a freak incident.

The dumping of people on their heads in general does have to stop though.

Yeah, chair shots to the head have rightly been banned (remember THAT shot to Cody's head?!!), so why continue or persist with allowing other stiff moves to the head, it makes no sense.
All moves that involve the head should be banned, you only get one brain, so why try to damage it??
