Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

Seems very sudden, given the match against Bryan at MITB.

On MITB, I haven't seen the show yet, due to work and some football tournament, but (and this may not be popular in this thread) I wanted Kofi to win. I just want him to have one big main event push, like the one Christian had on Smackdown a few years back.

To think how over Cass and Enzo were when they were both called up to both being gone 2 years later. Eh well, apparently he's a massive trump fan so feck him.

I might be the only one but I think Big Cass' release is a shame. He had a weird look like an overgrown rat. His body and in ring work makes him look a bit lazy. Although he wasn't terrible on the mic, he just wasn't really clicking and came across a bit forced... Yet, I can't help but think he will come good. There are glimmers of potential there. He needs a ton of work but I can see him becoming a top guy one day.

I bet he'll go to ROH or NJPW and turn into a beast like Drew McIntyre did. Then he'll resign for WWE in a few years and be an upper midcarder.

What's more concerning is the supposed reason for his release. It's because he went off script in a recent segment and attacked the mini Daniel Bryan? Unless he didn't have the guy's consent, I can't see why that's a sackable offence. WWE pushes this bizarre narrative that their wrestlers need to grab the brass ring by taking more chances and sticking to their convictions. Cass does that and he's fired? Seems ridiculous. The segment would have been even more pathetic without Cass attacking the mini Bryan. It was poorly written, cliched bullshit and Cass attacking him was the only aspect that added any legitimacy to it. If he'd have just let him walk off unscathed, the segment would have been even more crap than it turned out to be.

The WWE is a business juggernaut these days but they are the worst creatively than they've been since about 1995 which was a terrible time full of Mantaurs, Bastion Boogers and The Goons.

Firstly Drew was talented in one little finger than Cass was.

Secondly the bolded bit. He asked Vince not once but twice if he can attack the midget and Vince said no. It’s not ridiculous. If your boss told you not to do something, would you still do it?

He was also moaning about Bryan. Had lousy attitude backstage and was sloppy in the ring.

Cass is Vinces dream. He’s a big guy, so he must have pissed off everyone the wrong way for Vince to fire him like that.

Drew was in wrestling for 14 years before his WWE release, Cass has only been in it 9 years. I would agree that McIntyre's a better all round performer but Cass is nowhere near as bad as the IWC say he is. He's got personality and is not terrible in the ring. He showed good mic work when he was with Enzo and has come back from injury a little leaner and was in a fairly decent match with Bryan at MITB. I think he's improving but needs the big kick up the ass that this release should hopefully be.

I was pointing out the contradiction between WWE and Vince himself saying that performers need to take initiative but then creating a walking on eggshells, compliant environment that discourages the performers to grow independently. The likes of Austin, Rock, Nash, Michaels, Jericho etc. went off script and 'into business for themselves' plenty of times. Yes, they were often punished as a statement to show the locker room who's boss but not released. The punishment was usually just a slap on the wrist before reinserting them back up the card, usually higher than before.

Vince has this weird personality quirk where he respects people who challenge him and talks the talk about people taking this mythical brass ring. Yet he also is super controlling and creates a fear culture where nonconformity is stamped out of the wrestlers. Maybe the prolonged attack on the mini Bryan violated the whole Be A Star campaign depicting vulnerable people being bullied and Vince could be reacting to flack from the sponsors.

Not sure where you're seeing this about Cass complaining about Bryan and supposedly having a bad attitude? All I saw is that he took flack with the boys for being a Trump supporter but Vince's wife is on his staff so I can't think that could be a problem for management.

Hope Joe becomes the new No1 contender, but wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out to be Big E

Give me Joe/AJ first then give Big E his long overdue push.

And Cass is getting no where near NJPW. He was a good hot tag and got by spouting a catchphrase while his much more charasmatic partner carried the promos. He just isn't very good, and will end up like Ryback, working low status indie shows rather than somewhere like ROH or Evolve. Impact won't touch him either as they've changed massively since Callis and D'amore took over and won't go for an ex-WWE guy just because he was on tv. I may end up being wrong and he could get better but he has a long way to go. McIntyre always showed way more upside, was much better and at least had an indie background when he left WWE.

Big E is the champion we deserve and need. Guy is hilarious. That segment with KO where he is drying his face sweat with pancakes

He is awful. Poor mans Test and that is saying something.

I really liked Vader back in early/mid 90s. One of the best "big men" ever.

One of the worst (or best) examples of awful shouty promos. If he could have talked he would have been one of the all time greats.

Any excuse to watch this again...

Such sad news about Vader. No age to go. RIP big man.

On a side note, it’s disgusting that he’s not already in the HOF. Yet again WCW stars get a rough ride from Vince.

Didn't he induct someone into the HOF recently and did a table for 3? Think its just them thinking no year has been the 'right' year for him to go in which sucks as now he's gone. He'll probably definitely go in next year now.

Maybe he knew he was in bad health.

He definitely knew he was in bad health (he tweeted about it a lot).

I just think the WWE didn't want to set a precident of putting people in if they constantly and publically asked for it.

It is sad that he seemed to care about not making Vince's list and didn't get his moment.

Doctors told him in 2016 that he had two years to live.
That's sad to know.

I think he definitely had the career for it and it would have been better to get him give his own speech. It's not the same when someone else does it .

Although im comforted by the fact that he did get to have one final swansong. The Heath Slater stuff might have been a bit silly, but it was good fun.

The posthumous HoFs are always a little sad. This is sadder seeing as he wanted it so much seemingly and more than merited it.

I loved Vader. I first saw him at Wrestlewar 91 vs Stan Hansen. He was the first one that no matter what anyone said whether wrestling was fake or not you knew these matches hurt. A Vader match I'll always remember is this one:

Its also one that Foley was proud of. Remember this was just for TV not a PPV, they even cut some of the outside stuff. 6 minute mark Vader breaks Foleys nose. You can hear him talking about it on the Foley DVD.

Sami Zayn is out until Wrestlemania, had surgery on his torn right shoulder and in 6-7 weeks is having surgery on his torn left shoulder

Was just catching up on Raw that Ziggler vs Rollins match, damn, that was awesome. Kinda feel like they should have thrown McIntyre in to some sort Big game contender. Maybe a new plan to try and launch Roman again. Maybe Vince should pull a Dana White and create an interim title.

Im just catching up on MITB. The whole Womens title scene on Raw was done so well.
For those who were complaining about Rousey (calling her Brock) are they still doing so?
Her match with Nia was probably Nias best match and Rousey did not look like somebody having her first ever match. Also the cash-in was done so well. IMO I think it should have ended the PPV.

Apparently it was supposed to and for whatever reason it was turned around. Seemed like one of those moments that was a show closer, totally agree it should have been the last spot.

Also
Unrelated, I wish Raw was 2 hours. Would make it much easier to watch lol. But also make it tighter. Its weird though how many people arent used (like cant remember last time I saw the Bar (ok thats SD), or CWs (not counting 205).

yeah it is pretty much the same 10-12 every week with pretty much identical matches and stories. I pretty much have raw and Smackdown condensed down to about an hour. Just permanently have my hand on the fast forward button. I have my faves so I normally watch those segments but I really don’t give a fook about no way Jose. Kevin Owens is pretty much gold in everything he does. Just wish WWE would promote people equally and get rid of the face vs heal thing as they seem to do with every match, heal vs heal or face vs face can be intresting.

I think I fully watch anything to do with:
Rollins, Braun, Rousey, Elias (talking) on Raw
AJ, Nakamura, Miz, Bryan on SD

Everybody else either gets skipped or fwded whether its promos or matches

I compared her to Brock and it shows I'm correct so far.

My complaint was that she barely has any matches and was rocketed up to a title shot out of nowhere. Bit odd but very Brock like.

Then she got "suspended" for 30 days so she conveniently doesn't wrestle until the next PPV. Sounds very part timer ish so far and we have far too many of those.

I still dont think you understand the term part-timer or have some other definition of it. Brock and Taker are part-timers, as they dont appear on the show every week.
Rousey has appeared on every show (bar maybe one) since her debut.

I think that Mile 22 movie comes out in August so would probably expect her to disappear for a bit around that time. Probably return, cost Nia the match, Bliss continues on as champ via dodgy going ons, take care of movie buisness.

@Sylar kinda the same list except Elias and I tend to watch some of the female stuff.

I'm not watching any at the moment (apart from NXT and NJPW), and i'm not missing it at all. Still keeping up to date through Podcasts etc. But the product is horrendous, no sugar coating it.

The companys insistence on pushing mediocre talent like Carmella, Alexa Bliss (no matter how hot you think she is) and Baron Corbin etc is killing it. I know on paper they are doing 'better than ever' but unless they completely change the booking of the shows then the TV networks that have paid this money will start to think twice and could even pull the deal.
