Drew was in wrestling for 14 years before his WWE release, Cass has only been in it 9 years. I would agree that McIntyre's a better all round performer but Cass is nowhere near as bad as the IWC say he is. He's got personality and is not terrible in the ring. He showed good mic work when he was with Enzo and has come back from injury a little leaner and was in a fairly decent match with Bryan at MITB. I think he's improving but needs the big kick up the ass that this release should hopefully be.
I was pointing out the contradiction between WWE and Vince himself saying that performers need to take initiative but then creating a walking on eggshells, compliant environment that discourages the performers to grow independently. The likes of Austin, Rock, Nash, Michaels, Jericho etc. went off script and 'into business for themselves' plenty of times. Yes, they were often punished as a statement to show the locker room who's boss but not released. The punishment was usually just a slap on the wrist before reinserting them back up the card, usually higher than before.
Vince has this weird personality quirk where he respects people who challenge him and talks the talk about people taking this mythical brass ring. Yet he also is super controlling and creates a fear culture where nonconformity is stamped out of the wrestlers. Maybe the prolonged attack on the mini Bryan violated the whole Be A Star campaign depicting vulnerable people being bullied and Vince could be reacting to flack from the sponsors.
Not sure where you're seeing this about Cass complaining about Bryan and supposedly having a bad attitude? All I saw is that he took flack with the boys for being a Trump supporter but Vince's wife is on his staff so I can't think that could be a problem for management.
