Going to watch WrestleKingdom tomorrow during the day.

Will be my first ever NJPW show... that's the power of Chris Jericho.

Sorry I'm completely clueless regarding NJPW, but is this a two day event?

No, today (right now in fact) is Wrestle Kingdom 12, which is basically there Wrestlemania (and as such, can last like 5 or 6 hours) and tomorrow is a different show called New Years Dash, that basically is all the fall-out from Wrestle Kingdom and sets up stuff going forward. (at least that is my understanding).

Thank god I caught the Jericho-Omega match. Holy shit. My first NJPW Match and what a fecking match.

Jericho is GOAT

Also Juice Robinson. From hippy jobber to legit star.

Alpha Vs Omega was so fecking good. so happy that i watched it live.

The whole card pretty much, has been excellent. The only match that wasn't too good was Tana \ White.

I dont like Brandi at all. Shes got this whole annoyance of 'get off my tv' rather than compelling villain / sidekick.

I wouldn't say that is true at all. Don't think you can compare them these days.

Anyway, WK12 was amazing as always 3 to 4 MOTY candidates already.

Course you can. They are both wrestling products at the end of the day. WWE is 90% garbage.

Is the cool, in thing to say. But it's not really true is it? It doesn't deliver a lot of fan service hence why it gets hated on a lot, but being at the top of the WWE is what most wrestlers (at least in the western world) aspire to, so it can't be garbage, can it?

Any where to watch Jericho Omega match? Sometimes I've caught NJPW on YouTube. Wonder if it will be available there.

I wonder if he’ll be allowed to throw her at the opposition. I reckon he could throw her pretty far. Or will she do a twisted bliss off the palm of his hand.

If she doesnt do twisted bliss of his shoulders I will be very disappointed.

She pretty much has to right. Although I saw an interview where she says she believes it to be too flashy of a move for a heal so she has taken it out of her move set.

Thank you.
That’s not the full video. Cuts out at 27 minutes and the match is about 35 minutes long.

Other than that anyone else think that match was rubbish. I’ve never really been a Jericho fan but that was Just poor. Probably made worse by the fact that the mics around the ring were too sensitive so you could hear pretty much all their calls. Would rather of seen a wrestling match instead of that.

WWE is considered the pinnacle which is correct. But tell me why the ratings are dropping to an all time low? How many 5 star matches did the WWE produce in 2017? Tell me the good storylines from the past year?

Creative is horrendous in WWE that is a fact. They have basically ruined Nakamura, Balor and Bayley in the last year alone.

And all this women's revolution is a load of crap to. It's been 6 women tags for the past month because there is absolutely no storylines for them.

You definitely appear to be in a minority with this opinion

I think these mixed matches tournament could be promising if they do it right.
What I would like to see happen sometime is for either tag belts get vacated somehow, and instead of the usual tag teams going for them have some kind of random live draw that picks any random wrestler out with another. But do it so when they pull the name out it isn't fixed and they have to show the name, like the FA Cup draw or something.

Reason I say you can't compare, 1 is a company with 1 show every so often and other has 5 hours of tv a week, 2 hours of network and 15 PPVs a year with an audience age difference from 5 to 50. You think if NJ had to do all that appeal to kids would the show stay the same, I doubt it.

They do many things wrong but that just isn't true. They do a lot of crap but they do get things right.

Zayn/Owens, Y2J and the list, Usos/New Day, Joe/Lesner fued and many more. You're not wrong SD women's division has been poor, the Jinder experiment was so bad and again I could list more. For every Nakamura, Balor could counter with Braun, The Bar and Usos. All this isn't including NXT and the tournaments they hold on the network.

Your tag tournament idea sounds a bit bonkers but I am of the opinion that WWE needs more tournament style events to decide titles and no. 1 contenders. Whether that involves bringing back King of the Ring (could potentially do a two day event with King of the Ring one day and Queen of the Ring another), or they just find space in the calendar for them.

It's a good way to legitimise some of the guys lower down the card, and creates a new dynamic for storylines to work with.

Didn't WCW have a version of that randomised tag partners tournament way back in the early 90's? Sure I saw something like that on the old "WWE Classics" show.

I wrote a big post about my issues with WWE, and then my internet had a hissy fit. So bullet point version because I'm not doing that again:

  • Action is too watered down. Makes sense to an extent, given the hectic schedule - you want to avoid injury, but for bigger shows remove the constraints. Too many matches in WWE are "paint-by-numbers." Not nice to look at the likes of Styles/Joe/Nakamura/Balor/Owens/Zayn and think "their matches could be so much better if they were happening somewhere else."
  • Camerawork is terrible. Kevin Dunn is literally Satan. Lucha Underground is a good example of good cinematography during matches (although being taped obviously gives them something of an advantage, but even so, WWE's camerawork is just bad)

1) The vast majority of the people wouldnt watch their matches if it were anywhere else. Its a family focused product first and foremost. NJPW isn't.

2) Bad example using a taped show, as you said.

Someone on Reddit did a ten year comparison of an RKO a few days ago...

You'd get better camera work from someone in the crowd with a phone.

Owens and Jericho was done pretty much themselves with no creative. The list was Jerichos idea and they seen how popular it was and ran with it. Usos / New Day has been great, but that's been because of the in ring action not the creative. The Bar are boring IMO. I honestly can count the amount of good things they done on the main roster on one hand for 2017. I personally don't want Kenny Omega or any of the NJPW anywhere near the WWE as the company will ruin them within 12 months like they have Nakamura and Balor. NXT is different because that is ran by Triple H, not Vince and main creative.

It was Jimmy Jacobs that came up with the idea of the list.
