This is my team 15/16

From page one of this thread...

I will have a go. The first XI....

-----------------DDG-----------------
Clyne----Smalling---Hummels----Shaw
-------------Schneiderlin-------------
Mata----Herrera----Gundogan---Depay
---------------Rooney-----------------

Whoot!! GET IN :devil::devil::devil::devil:!!

Okay I will easily take Schweinstieger over Gudogan. Yes long term Gundogan might turn out better but with the questions now I am very happy with that. Darmian is most likely a small upgrade over Clyne so again very happy.

We know we are not getting Hummels so Otamendi or Ramos there, and then the only name I had my heart set on is Schneiderlin. We get him and a CB and I will be stoked

So our 15/16 team now looking like...

---------------Valdes---------------
Damian--Smalling--Jones--Blind
---------------Carrick---------------
-------Herrera-------Schweinsteiger
Mata----------Rooney----------Depay

Subs: Lindegaard, Shaw, Valencia, Fellaini, Di Maria, ???, ???

I've obviously omitted De Gea however I would hope if he does go then Ramos comes to us if we do end up getting screwed by them again I would hope the Otamendi transfer comes off. The concerning thing about the above is how short in attack we look now

Januzaj and Wilson would fit the last 2 spots quite nicely.
Or young

----------------De Gea---------------
Damian--Smalling--Otamendi--Shaw
------------Schweinsteiger-----------
-----=-Herrera-------Schneiderlin
Di Maria------Rooney----------Depay

Valdes

Darmian Ramos Smalling Shaw

Schneiderlin Schweini

Mata/Herrera (easy/tricky games)

Depay Rooney ADM/Young

Starting to look pretty awesome

----------------De Gea---------------
Damian--Smalling--Otamendi--Shaw
------------Schweinsteiger-----------
-----=-Herrera-------Schneiderlin
Di Maria------Rooney----------Depay

Yep this, although I don't expect De Gea to be here. We have the luxury of being able to rotate with Carrick and Fellaini, as well as Pereira. Young, Valencia and Januzaj on the wings.

We'll be rocking.

For some reason I'm not expecting Depay to be a starter each week like most line-ups in here seem to have him down as. It would surprise me if first season he's straight into the starting XI.

Yeah I think this aswel. We will probably have Young start up front until he finds his feet. Fantastic talent and I just know Van gaal will know how to bed him in.

The new signings are way too exciting, there are so many permutations to our possible starting line-ups, don't know where to start!

And the pessimist in me is a little bit cautious, too. We had some pretty amazing signings last year, but some spectacularly failed to live up to expectations. Will all the new players be able to gel this season? Only time will tell.

Tour squad best XL

So I called 2 by name and one is German so close.... All I am looking for is Otamendi and we are ready to roll :devil::devil::devil:!!!

In: Lloris and Kane: £50m plus £30m add on if Kane scores more than 20 goals. Option to take januzaj or Wilson on loan. Lloris get over 10 clean sheet.
Schneiderlin
Stones
Darmien

I'm thinking Di Maria goes to PSG, we sign a striker, one of Otamendi/Ramos and - because we're apparently being smart now - Leno to replace De Gea. Rafael and Chicharito go. Starters in bold.

-Solid, solid team. Ballpark figures would be 70-73 scored, which is a bit light for a PL winning team (though Chelsea got a healthy 87 points with only 73 goals last year), but defensively I'd guess 30-33. If we're over +40 in GD we'll be in the title race to the end, which would be significant progress even with a truly horrid CL and Cups performance.

We were only +25 last year and you that's not good enough. 62 for, 37 against.

We have to score more than 62 next year, but I don't think we'll be a massive goalscoring team. Midfield is good enough to do it but Mata is more good than great out right and Memphis is a young player in his first year. Van Gaal's style doesn't seem as likely to produce huge wins and I think Rooney will have a very good but not incredible goalscoring season back up front as the 9.

A wall like Schneiderlin, experienced RB and the star CB I assume we sign will all reduce that latter number, but De Gea going will cost us around 5 too.

-We can go into next summer looking for a goalscorer on the right to let Mata be the 10 when we play one, or he'll leave. Big Bale chase, but also another year for impressive young players like Felipe, Fekir, Bellarabi or others to prove they are consistent or new ones to emerge. Also Reus, Griezmann and other options as interesting options too. Also, chance Januzaj surprises us and wins the role. He's got the talent, obviously.

-Youth gets trusted a bit as depth on that right side, but we have versatile backups so it's not as big a deal.

Not a bad analysis but a couple points. Our goals were down last year because Rooney was in midfield and honestly that is not his best position.

Also if you look at Spurs, Pool, and City you will see we scored buckets of goals from midfield. When LVG has all the players he needs his striker is very focused tying up the 2 CBs. This leaves more space to attack for the midfield.

Now all said and done with RvP leaving I would not mind another striker, but my priorities are a CB and keeping DDG for 10+ years ;). I think regardless it will be us and Chelsea for 1st and Cech will help Arsenal tremendously so they will not be far behind and city will be rebuilding.

With Wilson, McNair, Blackett and Pereira that's a very good squad already.

Just need to sort out the goalkeeper situation, I'd love de Gea to stay but I'm not counting on it - Lloris or Leno would be my choice. CB I'd go for Ramos or Otamendi, that's dependable on de Gea aswell. To top it off we need a new striker, I have absolutely no idea who we'll be targetting. It would make sense to buy a striker who's 2nd choice from the start, but that's what I thought we'd do last season aswell and we got Falcao.

That's 7 players in this transfer window but would sort us out for a while, we've already done the most important part and van Gaal isn't taking half measures it seems. Hernandez, Rafael, Evans to be sold still.

Hard to argue with this team...

Maybe Mata ahead of Di Maria.

A lot of people have forgotten just how good Young was last season. Di Maria will have to make some serious improvements if he wants to get in the first team at the start of the season (that's if he isn't sold first).

That team is good enough to challenge for the league and do a decent job in Europe. We're still missing a Ronaldo/Bale/Messi/Neymar component though. Let's hope Depay turns into what we need.

That would be the man you just dropped for Young. Di Maria from 2013/14 would be outstanding.

He is key if we are to seriously challenge in Europe in the next few seasons.

I certainly hope so but if the rumours are true or last season was anything to go off he won't be around for much longer. I feel that being a part of the America tour would have been just what he needed, it's a shame he's missed it.

Surprised people are forgetting just how important Carrick is to our team.
We aren't, it's just that Schweinsteiger is and always has been on a different level to Carrick... They will most likely rotate, but more often then not it'll be Schweiny in the midfield, as Carrick is turning 34. He's brilliant to have as a squad player, and he'll probably play in defence occasionally for that added distribution, but he won't be first choice in midfield with the signings we've made.
