Thinking of opening up a soft drink bar

Not gonna lie, but it most likely won't work in Dublin! When we 'go for a drink' here, it certainly isn't for a coke! And if you are going to go for it, offer something outside of the big brands. Having foreign brands that people may have had on holidays but can't get in Ireland would be a good idea.

When someone wants a soft drink, they go to the newsagents. Do you expect people to go to this bar on a night out, or just when passing by so they can stop for a quick refreshment? Either way, there are better options available. Sorry.

Fizzy drinks? No chance.

Importing the Java Juice/jamba juice idea maybe, but even then like them, you'd need a kitchen and food to make it pay.

Open it in Essex, and name it 'The Lion Bar'.

The soft drinks bar is not made for Sunny D drinking sugar teens who spend day and night drinking crap. This is made for successful people with a career running and just need to access the most mainstreem fizzy pops one can need in life, i.e. Coke, Pepsi, Fanta, Irn Bru... People like us will enjoy this bar and make the most of it. The rest of you can stay with the older more accessable pubs and enjoy having a laugh, it's your little hobby.

If you want a fizzy drink, why not just go to the newsagent? If you want to sit down and have a fizzy drink, there are plenty of cafés, and pubs too, about.

 Is this thread for real? I mean surely the opening post is a piss take?

Cola from top luxurious?

4-5 euros for a pint too much but 3.5 euros for Cola reasonable?

I don't know, I like the idea. I'd like to go out to a place where all they served were different non-alcoholic drinks from around the world. You could also do non-alcoholic beers. The bar for people who want to drive too.

But yes, you'd need to do food, and cater a lot for the lunch-time and immediately after work trade.

Maybe you could add a line of sandwiches and salads and do hot tea and coffee.

Cupcakes are selling well over here...try that.

I'm telling you, bean bags, a jukebox full of the latest trendy tosh, a wall that people are allowed to write on, a few fish tanks, non alcoholic cocktails, and most importantly free wifi. The hipsters will be coming in their droves.

The Coke store in Vegas has a bar like this but its part of a four story store and they serve novelty flavors from all over the world. I don't think it could survive without the rest of the store around it, even in Vegas. Most of the people you see sitting down there have a few trays full of different flavors of soft drinks to try.

SodaStream Bar.

It could work.

That's not the idea though, is it?

It's not just Coke and Fanta, no. But a proper unusual soft drinks bar - yes.

If you don't drink and want to socialise with drinking friends, the range of soft drinks is always limited. Some places don't even do proper Coke or Pepsi, just that stuff out of the fountain thing. It would be nice to have a change sometimes.

I've worked in bars full time and part time for 12 years now.

What you are all missing is that when Douchebags come into the bar to have a coke or a 7up they might spend 10 or 15 quid. When someone comes in to have their few pints they'll spend anything they have in their pockets. The 7Up Brigade as we call them are a pubs mortal enemy. They are among the whingiest most demanding customers yet they spend the least.

Do you really think this place is going to have regulars? How many people do you know that will have 7-8 soft drinks in one evening? How many people will have 7-8 pints.

There is a reason people don't do this already, it's because it's a shit idea. Even those who don't drink generally are friends with ones who do so even they have to got to proper pubs to socialise.

I can't say I've noticed Dublin being a city filled to the brim with hipsters dying to go drink a 7Up from the bar in Saved By The Bell. Are Successful and RNilsson sure they've really been to Dublin?

The hipsters are there. The hipsters are everywhere. If Successful builds it, they will come.

Somewhere for u18's to go watch the football would be good.
