Football outside of England doesn't exist

Major League Soccer operates under a single-entity structure in which teams and player contracts are centrally owned by the league. Each team has an investor-operator that is a shareholder in the league. In order to control costs, MLS shares revenues and holds players contracts instead of players contracting with individual teams. In Fraser v. Major League Soccer, a lawsuit filed in 1996 and decided in 2002, the league won a legal battle with its players in which the court ruled that MLS was a single entity that can lawfully centrally contract for player services. The court also ruled that even absent their collective bargaining agreement, players could opt to play in other leagues if they were unsatisfied.
respect for staying with one club in europe.
On the flip side, it is easy to stay when winning. Giggs especially had many opportunities to leave but was never tempted away.Jesuus! This fact is treated as if it's a rarity - its not! Its pretty common.
At United we had several players who also stayed with one club: Giggs, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes to name some.
Well, back then there weren't as many money leagues as there are now. Beckham was groundbreaking for MLS, and Giggs wasn't quite as renowed as him (in a marketing perspective). Nowadays there's also the arab leagues, and even leagues like Australia, China and Japan have started signing former stars.Isn't he leaving because his manager said he was looking to reduce his playing time? No eliminate, but conserve? Imagine if Ryan Giggs stormed off to America in 2006.

There is something new to observe every time. The 2nd from top right, next to the baldy. His expressions dont change one bit. Tough cookie. The ginger guy bottom far left is great too. Looking in totally different direction and with expressions of a kindergarten student in advance maths class.Actually the best thing Stevie G. and his brave bunch brought to us by far:

(No thread should ever go without this. We should make this a sticky, it just never gets old and if I'm feeling sad it's the best thing to get me going again)
Time to go and find another sport then pal. This is football; it's tribal, it's irrational hatred sometimes it can be downright offensive, Gerrard is hated by a lot of Utd fans for among a lot of things his media portrayl as a bloody saint, never mind his hypocrisy and insencerity ..either deal with it or get lost

Ridiculous. Grow up.
I like his house. It's quite modest. What you'd expect from a down to earth lad like him.

It is a pretty simple concept that everyone views it as a last retirement paycheck, moving to a league in a country where football's not really mainstream, and well after he is past his peak.
Hardly nonsense.
Gerrard is all ego.
Basically he's retiring because Brendan has the cheek to want to manage his playing time so that he has an impact and doesn't burn out and become a passenger during games. Based on this season he's 100% right to do it and every other player Gerrard's age gets the same treatment, it's called good management.
However, Gerrard's ego is so colossal that he refuses to accept that he isn't the integral cog in the liverpool team he once was, it's a physical adaptation which every player who wishes to stay at the top level in this league must make. But not Gerrard! So instead of accepting he's human he's decided he'll leave and play in a championship standard league where his ego can be messaged until retirement and he can be the main man once again.
They formed that ridiculous guard of honour and handed him an actual fecking trophy, yes he got a golden trophy from liverpool comprised of his shirt number (8). It was so amazingly farcical I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I guess they thought he should have some kind of prize in his final season, so they created one.
The worst thing was you could see it in his face, there was no surprise or embarrassment, he expects this kind of treatment and he revels in it. Steven Gerrard the super-ego. It's no wonder he and Brendan have to go there separate ways.

Yea, they have been, a lot, hence my mentioning it. But well done on making an argument when you actually don't know what you're talking about.Has it flown over your head that 26 years at one club is something to be admired about?
I don't think anyone is calling him one man club (are they). more of respect for staying at Liverpool for so long.
It's nonsense if you actually understand what the term means. It is a pretty simple concept that everyone views it as a last retirement paycheck, moving to a league in a country where football's not really mainstream, and well after he is past his peak.
