Things I Like About Steven Gerrard

He's solely responsible for Liverpool not winning the PL last season. Had he not slipped, Liverpool would have won their first league title in 20+ years. I like that about him, I guess.

Not really, it was still 0-0 so who's to say somebody else or even him wouldn't have fecked it up to drop points ?

I think you have to accept he scored some great goals. The West Ham Cup Final equaliser was particularly fantastic. And I think underrated as a player (at his peak) by a lot of us.

You couldn't make up though, to rob his hometown club of a 1st title in yonks like that.

It'll be emotional.

The fact that he's going to spend the next couple of years being told that he can't speak English by Americans.

In fairness he's one of the greatest players the Premiership has ever seen or ever will see, the best player never to win the league and a true professional. He is arguably the best midfielder of his generation. Every Club would want him in their team, and even though he plays for Liverpool I'd go as far as saying we all have a massive respect for him, both as a player and as a man.
I for one think that the Premiership will be a lesser place without him
Only joking he's a prick of the highest order who fecked up his only chance of winning the league, that's what the slippy cnut will be remembered for.

Erm....no

13 less Premier League titles than Ryan Giggs.

Pulling off the dive of the century in the 2005 CL final.

The slip.

That speech about not slipping.

Pushing the camera away after the Palace game.

I love it that as much as they adore, love and idolize him, he doesn't give shit about any of them. He's so full of himself. It's beautiful.

Actually the best thing Stevie G. and his brave bunch brought to us by far:

(No thread should ever go without this. We should make this a sticky, it just never gets old and if I'm feeling sad it's the best thing to get me going again)

Cant stop looking at that guy in middle of the GIF, must have the largest head in the UK

The main thing is me is that he spells his name with a V and not a PH, Steven's with a PH are nuts.

He was a great player, and it's nice to see him get the respect from his own fans today, although expectingly, none From some of the more childish keyboard warriors here.

If Beckham can give him props, afterall...

I dont understand this irrational hate which apparently is banter. I follow a lot of other sports, namely hockey, and this sort of bitterness towards a great player is unheard of. It comes across as petty and reflects poorly.

Shots fired.

Time to go and find another sport then pal. This is football; it's tribal, it's irrational hatred sometimes it can be downright offensive, Gerrard is hated by a lot of Utd fans for among a lot of things his media portrayl as a bloody saint, never mind his hypocrisy and insencerity ..either deal with it or get lost

He was a massive cnut against us, but there's no denying how good he's been in the EPL. Can't believe i'm saying this, but i'm going to miss the scouse cnut.

Look, I'm going to say it, but I really respect him, don't like him, but respect him. He's loyal....he never left the club he loved, the same as Scholes, the same as Giggs and obviously a few others. Loyalty is so in the past and I have to respect him for this.

This gif is one of the best gifs ever seriously.

I agree... And because of his connections to the 96 fans who died at Hillsborough I have always thought he was dignified in the way he dealt with that... Especially as the truth came out.
There is no need for animosity just because someone plays for and is probably (and rightly) considered an icon of a rival club... Very good player - genuinely seemed to care when he played for England and showed loyalty (some on here may consider it misguided loyalty but I personally respect him for it)

I think it's funny he never won a league title, funny that he slipped, stamped and funny he lost his final game

But After it's all said and done I do consider him a great Premier League player and deserved his send off. Not a huge fan of a lot of the comments I have seen today, but not surprised either.

My personal favourite is the Alan Carr lookalike registering whats just happened 10 seconds after the event.

Not really, they still only drew with Palace. Also I'm sure he contributed to some points before that to put them in a position to win the title.

I've loved to hate him over the years but it just comes across as bitter when people say stuff like you've just posted. Great player, love it that he never won a title but you have to admire his loyalty.

They drew to Liverpool because the nutters thought they were going to win it on goal difference and went all out attack. It was never going to work and it hit back big time but with a draw/win against Chelsea I don't think they'd lose a 3-goal lead at Palace. Besides a draw might have still been good enough had they beaten Chelsea which they couldn't because Gerrard slipped.

 He's great. I'm sure he must sound like Lou from Little Britain.
Have you spotted the four that turn to the big man and bow down? Very suspicious...

I hadn't, now I see it  It's the gift that keeps on giving.

I agree with Senor. It's amazing how many fans and pundits alike have blindly let that moment slip (no pun intended), whilst heaping praise on him and portraying him as the only loyal creature on the planet...

He just left, he's on his way to a new club. Also, the whole Chelsea thing?

Yeah, somehow I really think we'll end up missing him. He's been the best parody of a nemesis one could possibly wish for, and I'm not sure if there ever will be an appropriate replacement. Thank you for the sweet and slippy memories Stevie G.

Has it flown over the head of all these people circle-jerking over the 'one club man' nonsense that he's leaving to join another team?
