The people saying he's not coming, deal with it are really
annoying. There are many clues he's leaving and all reports place us top of the list, how can you be so certain?

I've met many pessimists in my forum days. They refuse to be seen to believe it so they don't get upset if it doesn't happen or look silly if it doesn't. There's a bit of top reddism in there too.

For what it's worth the interviewer seems dead set on the idea that he's moving to England. And when she asks him to confirm it he says that he sees his immediate future in Israel. She then responds by saying "but I was asking you about England". To which he chuckles and says "I know". No further elaboration on that point. She then asks him if he speaks English and he says "A little". He also said he's being talking to his teammates about the problems and challenges they face in playing for other clubs. The interviewer prefaces all the questions by saying that it's "almost certain you'll be leaving" which he doesn't refute at all.

Translation = it's f****** on!

It could be some sort of pre-emptive defence against the idea of being let down. These people are probably hurting the most, bless them. :(

feck me this is not happening is it? Or is it?? Come on let's do this! Let's send fecking Ari Gold to sign him up for us!

We got frustrated with Ferguson for playing the likes of Giggs in midfield over upcoming young players and you guys criticize Barcelona for not playing him enough when they have Busquets, Xavi, Fabregas and Iniesta?

101 appearances (wiki, not the most reliable I know) for a 22 (just) year old for what some herald as the greatest side ever is quite some faith they've shown in the kid. Would he have got more for United at 22? And even if he had, by how much? Not a great deal more, even though our midfield is surely much easier to break into than theirs.

Barcelona set themselves up for a fall with the clause - however, he was injured earlier in the season. And, do we really believe that they should have been playing him just to make sure he hits his clause? Judging from the Rooney thread, most of our fans believe that you should want to play for our club - and if a player doesn't, let them leave. Would Ferguson have given in to a players contract, and played them simply to satisfy their contract?

Of course, he is a huge talent and a huge loss for Barcelona - but I don't believe they have done a great deal wrong here.

Who's saying they have? I agree with you, they shouldn't have given him more game time just to keep him. Good as he is, he's not worth dropping any of their current starters. But he'd also be doing the right thing by leaving, because Xavi isn't about to magically age ten years. I think Barca would love for him to stay, but have probably accepted that they can't offer him what he wants.

Cocks at the ready chaps:

This is from Sport.es, the catalan daily. Just appeared on their site. Basically says:

Thiago Alcantara, the star of Spain's European u21 final, can leave the Azulgrana in any moment. The player has decided to leave Barcelona and accept one of the two offers that he has on the table.

The two teams with proposals are Manchester United and Bayern Munich. The English club wants to reinforce their weak central midfield where they find players with physical profiles but lack creative players with penetration, so the arrival of Thiago would be ideal. The german club is the other pushing for Thiago, Pep Giardiola knows him well and knows his willingness to leave the Catalan club and does not want to let him escape his clutches. Thiago is the prize of the market and is only "worth" 18M euros. A bargain/steal.

Seems like Pep Guardiola is the only threat. Pretty formidable one unfortunately.

de Gea: "I've invited everyone, especially Thiago, to come to Manchester!"
Thiago: "My future destination, for now, is here in Israel."

EDIT: It's on the previous page, still makes me horny. Bayern's interest does not, however.

Bayern munich to play for his old gaffer or us? If Pep wants him then you'd have to think that we don't have much chance...with robben getting on a bit there would still be space for him in that team along side Gotze

I doubt a Barca player would go to Chelsea with Mourinho being over there.

I've really got the feeling he's going to join Pep at Bayern.

It looks ever more likely that Thiago Alcantara is about to drop a bombshell on Barcelona and make the move to Old Trafford. Reports in Catalan daily paper Sport say that the young midfielder - who scored a first half hat-trick for Spain in the Euro U21 final against Italy - has decided to leave Barcelona, after speaking about his future with coach Tito Vilanova and receiving an unsatisfactory response on the amount of game-time he could be guaranteed next season.
Though Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich are now believed to be expressing an interest in the midfielder, Manchester United are clear favourites to sign him, and could land him for as little as €18m (£15.5m). talkSPORT present five things United fans should know about the talented Barca man...

He would be third choice cental midfielder for Bayern (behind Martinez and Schweini), while he will have to fight for Gotze for AMC position if Robben leaves, If not Muller comes into combination too. No doubt that United is the best place if he wants regular playtime. Of course though, Guardiola could be a big factor.

I am confident that he'll choose us before City and Chelsea though. He wants more playtime which to us would not be a problem and considering that how low the transfer is, I think that we can compete with Chelsea and City for the wages (of course, not a ridiculous 200k, but I doubt that they will offer him those wages too).

This of all weeks is the time that YouTube decides its not going to work for me any more. Won't load videos, and on the rare occasion it does they only load to 15 seconds, and normally there's no sound anyway. Seriously, what's a muppet to do?

(On another note, I've never really been a muppet before. Although I've only been on the Caf for a year, I've been reading it for six or seven, but I've never desperately wanted us to sign someone like this before. Well, except Kagawa, but we got him so it doesn't really count, does it? My post count on this thread definitely confirms it's happened this time though. Strange experience. I'm utterly losing my mind.)

Goetze, Ribery, Robben and Shariqi out wide to compete with, Schweni, Martinez, Muller and Kroos, through the middle. Muller often goes wide too. Serious competition for places. Gustavo isn't too sloppy either.

How I forgot Kroos? He was brilliant this year and one of their best players prior to his injury. Leaving Barca for limited playing time to go to Bayern makes zero sense.

Once bitten and all that, but I really like the fact we are clearly being linked by alot of sources, there is genuine legs in this.

For once the transfer is actually going out direction, the perfect player at the perfect time, for the perfect money.

Guardiola being linked is purely coincidental, maybes he has handed out an olive branch but surely with agent DDG on board we have much of a chance.

I also think we are highly respected which helps a bundle. Alcantara is clearly a clever kid with his head screwed on. He does not seem a money chaser, more likely a huge professional who just wants to make the big time like his father.

Don't you worry thiago, if you wear the red it won't be the last trophy you collect
