Exactly. Which is why I'm not too fussed, he'll probably be offered more attractive wages from different clubs and I don't see anything that makes me think he'll veer from the typical footballer and choose United, unless we offered him even more insane wages which would be unusual.

A secondary advantage of the release clause is that we can use any amount that would've gone to a transfer fee to supplement the wages.

I think we'd be extremely dumb if we didn't try and get him. Activate that release clause and let's try and do some business. He's just the type of midfielder we need who treasures possession and can score goals.

Wha position does he actually play? Where would he fit into our attack?
He can play deeper in the midfield or more advanced, in the 10 position. I'm pretty sure he himself prefers the deeper role.

I see him ideally next to Carrick in a 2-3-1. I also think it'd work a dream having him and Cleverley ahead of Carrick and behind Kagawa, Rooney and RVP.

Very well beside Carrick. He's got good passing range from deeper positions as well as the athleticism and skill to beat opponents one on one and make a difference around the edge of the box. The only slight concern would be his defensive abilities especially in the Prem. On a technical level his talent is obscene.
I don't expect Sky to interview him regarding his future.

I think our biggest rivals for him are Monaco, psg and Chelsea. Chelses less likely because of mourinho (I base that on nothing but hope).
Monaco don't have champs league. This, I think puts psg as our main rival. .. what does their midfield consist of at the moment? hopefully their managerial situation will help us (unlike with hazard).

I really, really hope we have already tied up a deal. Wouldn't be surprised as we usually do our business quietly, but otherwise this could end as painful for us muppets as the Hazard and Lucas sagas, both 'stolen' right under our noses.
