Logically... nothing has really changed about his situation, so if he does choose to extend his contract then he's a) either going to finally push himself ahead of Fabregas in the pecking order for whenever Xavi needs to be rested or b) end up moving further down the line anyway.
The instagram and the picture of his dad with the president suggests that he's close to agreeing to stay but Barcelona's actions with regards to his release clause suggest they wanted rid and welcomed offers... unless the U21 championship completely changed their entire attitude to his worth and suddenly they want to keep him. Lets hope if this goes down the pan, we make a big effort to sign Gundogan or have some solid backup targets.

Look at that Instagram pic, who could blame him for wanting to stay in sunny Spain overlooking the lovely city? Especially if the flip side is rainy, boring Manchester.

For what it's worth I too love Barcelona. FC Barcelona on the other hand, not so much.
