29 years old is the peak of someone's career. It would be an honor for any club to get someone with the skills of Thiago in their prime.
Stefan Effenberg and Zinedine Zidane both joined respectively Bayern Munich and Real Madrid at age 30 and led them to Champions League glory.
Some are acting like 29 is half retired. Thiago will be world class for 4+ more years, easily.
Sporting wise this makes much more sense than getting a 33 year old Messi.
For every Zidane there is a Sanchez.
Moving to a new league, on a massive contract is a risk. Clearly every transfer has an element of risk, but with the physical demands these days, and the big costs, you can understand some apprehension.
