Thiago Alcantara | New contract

The signing of de gea could have additional benefits of course ;) Barcelona should remember how we dealt with them giving them Pique back for 5m

Just found this on Utds website of the goss reel regarding Thiago:

11:05 El Mundo Deportivo claim Bolton discovered United are leading the race to sign Barcelona's Thiago Alcantara when making a bold approach for the midfielder. The report suggests he is 'responsive' to a move to Old Trafford but there's a rival €20m bid from Chelsea and Barca's insistence on a buy-back clause would be a deal breaker.

Interesting if true, would be a great signing

feck Barcelona and their buy back clause. If you want him, keep him and stop pissing around with Fabregas.

Agreed, we should sign Thiago for £20m and sell him back to Barca for £5m.

Well people think differently about valuations. What's value for money? If he's THAT good and helps us win trophies, how much money does he help make the club? It's clear that they would want a buy back clause because of their dealings with Arsenal....

So if he stayed here 3 years, helped win us trophies and we sold him for 20+ million ....(pique wasn't a regular/he was lucky to get a game) then we can rebuild or maybe we promote from within or maybe *shock* he'd want to stay. That's value for money. What they contribute. On the field.

What we have here is given Barcelona a false sense of security dealing with us. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out. Surprised they've not tried to just loan him out.

I cant see the player being interested in a move on loan - they'd only likely send him to a club who wont be challenging them for top honours either in Spain or anyother country.

The fact is, if the sign Fabregas, long term he's pretty much out of the picture.

No doubt he'd prefer to stay at Barca if he was guaranteed football but that looks far from being the case.

Looks like he might renew his contract (surprise surprise)...

Insert feck-off clause - £0.00 million!

Seriously sick to death of Barca, they've become such an arrogant bunch of feckers. I used to detest Real because of the way the handle their business, but Barca's antics these past few years are just as disgusting & in many cases much worse, atleast everyone knew what Real are like & expect that shananigans off them, but Barca the self-proclaimed - more than a club bullshit, is acting up on their love-in with football fans - they can do no wrong from their point of view!

Its like Barca are foookin blind & think every football fan wants them to have the best players at knock-down prices, because they're the shining light in all our eyes. Wake-up call for Barca is well & truly overdue, but more importantly - a boot in the head for that arrogant cnut Sandra Rosell is even more overdue....

...Agent Elliot Kebbie will sort this out :)

That will annoy me. If I was him and I was behind Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and Barca clearly though signing Cesc was a better option than giving me a chance, then I'd want out.

He's only a young lad & Barca is his home team. His family & friends etc will remain & he'll have to start all over again in England. These are the benefits that Barca have in their favour. feckin sunny city aswell

Sorry but what exactly did they do wrong here?

This was always going to happen but I had hoped we might get a sniff. Thiago's got all the gifts to be the next big thing in the Barcelona midfield. Should they get Cesc back I imagine Barcelona will be feeling they've got ready made replacements for Xavi and Iniesta when the time comes and you know what..? They'd be right.

For all we know he's been offered this contract to raise his buy-out clause. Its a very short contract to be given a talented twenty year old.

Just saying muppets...

:wenger:

Seriously what did they do wrong here?

How much do contracts mean in today's game? Can it not be that this is a way of getting more money for Thiago to facilitate the Fabregas deal. It was only recently that their paper El Mundo Deportivo was linking him to Tottenham, Malaga, United et al.

Do you not find them incredibly arrogant as regards other teams players?

Also sayin Fabregas isnt worth what he was worth last year because of wear & tear is rediculous!

They're doing what every top club does - that is, play on the fact that you're very succesful knowing that the player will want the move. They're trying to do the best deal they can.

Might have a point about Fabregas - another year run down on his contract, another season without a trophy weakening any inclination of staying and teh fact that he spent a good spell of the season injured.

I personally can't see why they are bothering with Cesc. Already got a great midfield and good young players coming through.

True but that would imply there were still willing to sell. The only problem with that is surely they would still want a buy back clause in the contract...so we'd be back to square one

This lad as a seriously good player, potentially one of the best. I don't see this new deal as anything but an inevitable formality on Barcas part. It'd be one of the strangest things I'd seen had they let him go. In fact, had he been at another club then I think they'd have gone all out to sign him, he suits them that well.

With regards to their chase of Fabregas, there can be no complaints. He was pretty much robbed from them in the first place and they must be gutted that they're being asked to pay a kings ransom to get back a player that should still be theirs really.

Obviously Arsenal have to try and get as much money for him as possible though.

They do what every top club does i agree - only they do it publicly. The get into the heads of opposing players & the Barca players are as guilty as Rosell & other officials - same as what Real do!

How is Fabregas only worth £27m? Its a tad arrogant of them sayin that & then puttin a €90m buy-out clause on their young lad Thiago who's just starting out.

Fabregas is a seasoned pro at this stage & he's still young. He would be every top clubs cup-of-tea, its just he's his mind set on Barca - which is fair enough, but how come UEFA havent come down hard on them for tappin him & other players up? They've done it publicly on many occasions!

Too bad we won't be able to bid for him now. We might have to pay over the odds for the young fellow, which clearly won't be worth it.

Why do Spanish clubs always seem to have buy-out clauses in contracts. Do they have to? I'm thinking they must because what's the point of having one if it's 90 million euro?

How the feck was he robbed when we paid them in compensation and gave them Gio Van Bronckhorst? fecking bollocks, that is.

I wouldn't say he was robbed. Fabregas had a choice and he made it. He was free to make that choice and his time at Arsenal hasn't hindered his development. As a result, the money required to buy Fabregas is what he is now worth. If Barcelona want him, they should pay what's due and not try to take the piss. In football, they've had advantages over other clubs and no one else moans. They should accept it, maybe if they looked after their kids better they wouldn't leave but if it hadn't of worked out, where would they be?
