Thank you all for the words of encouragement. It was an incredible feeling and I couldn’t be more proud of this young team. Now we already know we will probably get bounced in the group stages as the curse of the champions dictates.
I thought for the first time Pogba actually played like a team leader and a world class player. He just never looked convincing for me before, whenever I watched him at United, his talent was never in question but something was missing. He has really matured and proved himself in this tournament. I wonder if this newfound confidence will make him a better player at the club level, too.

, thanks a lotFrance are deserving winners. The foul on Griezmann could've gone either way and on the penalty I felt the ref made the correct decision. Croatia weren't poor at all, they huffed and puffed and at times even looked the better side, but in the end they just weren't good enough.

Turns out i wasn't far off. Croatia nicked a goal and Lloris had a moment of madness, but otherwise spot on. Once Modric tired and Nzonzi came on France just have much better players.

I was part of the PSG one, but I was barely on the boards during the world cup. Being in the USA, it hasn't been great for my health not sleeping before games and drinking beers as early as 6/8/10/11AM.

I'm sad but in the same time proud. It wasn't meant to be. We had a good game I thought but some of the situations went against us and France scoring those 2 goals which killed the game of.

The Croatian players seemed gutted at the end as you’d expect. Incredible achievement from them. For a country that size to reach the final is amazing. They also played the best game of any losing finalist I can remember in a long time. France just had too much all over the pitch. Croatia should be so proud of their team - what a Summer for their fans.

What to say. Firstly game in general was fantastic. Someone told me it's the 1st time there has been 6 goals in WC final in 40 years. Don't know if that's true but all in all it was an incredible game, end to end stuff.
We started strongly, like we were the favorites, had some chances or half chances but I really like the attitude, it was - we're in the final, we're here to get this. It was a shock when we conceded out of nothing I thought. There was a small contact but Griezmann made a meal out of it. We didn't defend that set piece like we should. And then the goal. Crazy, deserved and a well taken goal. Penalty.. It was 50-50, Pitana took a long good look like he wasn't sure. If we didn't make it he wouldn't have mistaken imo.
In the 2nd we started strongly again but 2 quick goals killed us. Suba could have been better for one of those goals, second I think.
France is a strong team, we were better for an hour but they took their chances and won deservedly. After the 4th goal tiredness kicked it and although we took one back it was too much to get back.
I'm extremely proud of this team and coach Dalić. They had a fabulous tournament. Absolutely fantastic. It's a huge achievement for this small country. We were so close to greatness but people are porud nevertheless. Everybody is singing and celebrating in the town now and across the country. We have a league nations games now vs Spain and England but players will take a vacation, they deserve it.
Other than great tourno fantastic thing is everybody is talking about Croatia, it's such a huge thing to be in the final of the WC. There were a lot of journos from all over the world who came to see which is that small country in the final and how we play football and celebrate.

I am still gutted. I would rather that we lost 5.0 than this. Ref really fecked us up. Who knows how the game would ended if we didn't need to chase result. I really think that we outplayed them.
Great WC final! I think France was pushed more by Croatia than any other team in the WC, so it is a fitting end. Croatia probably played its' best game of the tourney right there and they were worthy finalists. Always felt France had another gear though if necessary, but for 55 odd minutes Croatia definitely took it to them. Kante had a poor game and it was a good decision by Deschamps to take him off. It seemed to instantly change things around.
They pressed France hard but rarely got close to scoring, along with smart fouls to stop play every time France looked like breaking. You could tell from the beginning Croatia couldn't keep that pace up. Kante was struggling under the press but once that eased off and Nzonzi came on it was very comfortable for France. They just had to manage the game in the first half. It was a very Liverpool like performance from Croatia.
After the Croatia reaction to the semi i'm glad France put 4 past them but i doubt it would have been much different had England been there instead of you. Our side of the draw was just that much weaker.
We were a better team for about 60 minutes. We not only kept the pace but pressed them and had chances. We started to fade after 4th goal but from the beginning? No, not really. It's really funny you still bang about our 'reaction' from 1 player.
Lots of English pundits agree it wasn't a foul for French 1st goal.
You had more of the ball, but rarely threatened close to the French goal. Lots of wild shots and speculative efforts, but it was telling that France had more shots on target despite the difference in possession and total shots. France were nervous at the beginning but they still managed the game well enough to keep Croatia a safe distance from goal.

The thing that disappointed me with Croatia in the second half was that they didn't get enough crosses in the box. They were giving France so much trouble in the first half from crosses and corners.
I think tiredness set in. after 4th goal it's all fuzzy to me.
