Gaming The Witcher 4 | 6 MINUTE TRAILER! Drink it in boys and girls!

I'm so excited. The Witcher 3 is one of my favourite games ever, if not my most favourite. I'm still playing Cyberpunk now and loving it, although I don't think I'm too far from the end of that, either. Still got the DLC to go through.

I had such a wonderful time with TW3. Loved the locations, the music, the characters, and the writing. The quests were just brilliant. Excited to see where we go next with this game.

I'd tone down the enthusiasm for this. The main guys that created the witcher games are now gone, and I'm not impressed by the new recruits that have come in.
You can tone down your enthusiasm if you want but I won't. These new recruits were involved with Phantom Liberty, weren't they? Unless you didn’t like PL, which honestly I'd be surprised by, I'm not sure how you can be unimpressed with them.

Cyberpunk is a different beast to this. I don't think it is a good idea to go the route of Ciri, she's far too overpowered and it would have been better to go down a different route with the Witcher series. We'll see in the long run, but I wouldn't be super giddy about this.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I on the other hand am looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

In what way?
Well I always disliked the ciri witcher ending of 3 ( they kinda messed up the main plot of 3 but that's besides the point).

They do show her using witcher potions and using their magic which doesn't make sense plot wise as she hasn't gone through the transformation process but I suppose all these lore details could be waved away if they wish so.

My main gripe with the idea is that is this the life Geralt or ciri herself would want? Living a witcher's life is a life of constant Misery and hurden one way or the other which is incongruous with either of their character's , Geralt would never want to condem her daughter to such a life and ciri herself after what she's gone through probably wouldn't fancy it either.

Also they've deviated from the books when they wished so so the following point might be moot but the ending of lady of the lake does imply ciri would not wish to live such a life.

Was there a year? Gotta be 2026 at the earliest surely. I’d image it’s next gen too if it was running on unreleased Nvidia hardware

Nvidia have new cards coming out in a few months and release new hardware every year, not that it means much.

Hard to know either way but you’d assume it’s 3 years away at least.

Perhaps this is why the game should give you option to dethrone certain tyrant, if things politically will keep going south.

If empire's sustainability is through constant conquest, plus eliminating any threat by force, then I'm not sure Ciri would be up for it... but definitely that kind of dark plot could spawn a lot of interesting new choices.

Evil Ciri, murdered by Geralt. Yummy.

Idiots basically, TW3 made sense for Ciri to take over

I agree with RTB above over The Witcher life not really being what Geralt would want for Ciri, really it is a bit of a downbeat turn for her to end in that life. Will be interesting to see how they frame it narratively, really hope we don't go TLOU2 route with Geralt being offed early and a revenge plot.

Ciri is really the lead character from the books rather than Geralt.

The books are about Ciri, but through Geralt's eyes. I'm not sure I'd call her the lead character but the overall plot is definitely hers. They're going to have to remove her source power somehow, which I'm sure they'll explain in the fist few hours of the game.

The potions are definitely a narrative problem, as it implies she had to go through the trial of grasses, and there are so many problems with that. It was only ever done on children, killed almost all of them in terrible agony and its secrets were supposedly long lost anyway. They'll write their way around it, but it does feel a bit contrived.

I'm still happy with the choice of Ciri as protagonist, but I wish they'd handled it differently than just turning her into an actual witcher, mutations and all.

She won’t be overpowered in this. They’re obviously not going to give her the exact same abilities as W3. It’s the logical idea to go with Ciri. Definitely super duper giddy.

Excited for the game but utterly sick of release trailers without any semblance of a release date or window. Knowing the current gaming industry this probably won't be out for 3 years or more.

No issues with Ciri as the protagonist, it was highly expected and talked about a long time ago. Makes sense narratively. That said I will very much miss Geralt and his dry sense of humour.

Ciri has long been the expected protagonist of w4. In fact I thought it was already confirmed but I guess not. Geralt's story was finished and most witchers dead.

They will obviously have something in the story that strips her powers away. And anyway, geralt starts w3 as a level 1 Witcher with very few powers. It is after all a video game.

Geralt is in it I believe. Think that has also been talked about.

But I had Ciri as Empress in my Witcher 3.

I guess the canonical ending would be her being a Witcher.

Assuming she isn't as OP as she was in Witcher 3 then I'm in.
She basically was a demi-goddess at the end Witcher 3, able to control space and time. Killing monsters would pose no challenge whatsoever for her.

I love having her as main character but also am quite cautious. I'm curious what CDPR will use as an excuse to nerf her down to a witcher level.
