Gaming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I'm only a few hours into this 4th playthrough of mine and I'm just constantly in awe of this once again. It's not just these shiney visuals but the Witcher has something special which instantly clicks with me - whether it be the writing (barely a few interactions in White Orchard and the dialogue is just so interesting it grabs you), the music - so frickin great, Geralt or more.

That's not even mentioning the expansions either. Particularly Blood and Wine.

An unrivaled masterpiece.

I can't be sure but it seems most faces in the game have been upgraded. Even minor characters like the lady at the white orchard inn or the guy who is looking for his brother / his doh seem to have so much more detail.

So far it's been lovely to step back in. The new camera mode and the PS5 controller add so much.

I don't know if I should start it again. It is a colossal time sink, even more so if you play games at a glacial pace like I do (Ragnarok took me 60+ hours).

Base game and DLCs is probably looking at 150+ hours.

if not you're banging every character you can in the game in the first playthrough then you're doing it all wrong.
Exactly.

I can't remember if she can actually be banged but Keira Metz, her > Triss/Yenn.

Keira is 'bangable' and does not affect the relationship with Triss/Yenn.

I'm getting sucked into doing a platinum run again. I think it's possible to do it in one walkthrough unless i'm missing something.

Intrigued to know what people picked on The Whispering Hillock quest

I turned traitor and killed the spirit tree at the last second after promising it I'd help. Obviously I've played the game before and I know the consequences :(. Can't remember the difference in rewards between the options though

Been playing this after the WC to calm down and it is beautiful. I don't like most open world games, but there is just something about the environments in this game that are just satisfying to move through in a way that no other game has matched. The graphical update is fab (and getting me all too interested in throwing money at a new gaming PC) especially loving the moonlit nights, while the music still has that wistful fairy tale melancholy vibe that just does it for me.

Fantastic.

There are few games nowadays where I’m not tempted to skip dialogue scenes because they’re so bad at it but I just can’t skip these ones despite replaying the game. It’s just a fantastic experience from beginning to end.

A performance related patch for PC was released today. Around 2GB in size. Mixed reception so far... Some people report worse performance, some better...

PS Game version will remain the same

I’ve encountered a few bugs but nothing game breaking, just annoying. When I go into the inventory sometimes there is a weird interference on Geralts head. Sometimes when I pick stuff up it doesn’t show in my inventory but when I reload it’s fine.

What I've noticed on replaying it is how many open world games have stock/reused animations for talking scenes. Obviously Witcher 3 has too but it seems far more varied in terms of movements and facial expressions. Makes the world of difference over replaying other open world games.

Noticed some bugs/jank, nothing too game breaking but noticeable. The new Witcher armour set based on the TV show looks great.

I'm still having so much fun playing the game again. Easily one of my top 5 games of all time and the amount of care CDPR put into some of the characters and questlines is just beyond anything I can think of in comparison (that i've played anyway). Hoping to get my second Witcher platinum by the time Dead Space remake comes out.

The performance on my pc is pretty wank. Cant decide whether to play it on the ps5 or computer. Mainly the reason id like to try it on pc is the mods that make the gameplay more smooth.

Latest "performance update" broke RT gaming for me. It won't even load now.

I got a brand new gaming computer for 1600 pounds and it runs like shit with RT on. This is why gaming consoles havr overtaken computers for gaming unless you can afford the most expensive rigs.

This game is something special
It's unbelievable. Absolutely loving my 4th playthrough. 10 hours in and every character you meet be it the lost me pan / white orchard inkeep lady is so memorable. Just met Miss Mitz

Level 28 and thinking of doing the Hearts of Stone DLC before rescuing a certain someone at the point of no return. Been a blast to play again.

The trolls in this game are hilarious. Can never bring myself to kill any of them if i can help it, which is a shame as i need a troll liver for one of the potions.

Geralt: "i'm light as a feather but even a rock troll can't hold me for long-what am i?"
Troll: "urgh....piss?"
:D

I don't remember it taking so long to level up though. Would I be right in saying it's mostly because the side quests don't really offer much XP? I feel like i've done loads and only just hit level 5

Yeah, I’m finding that this time around too. I thought I went up levels far quicker when I first played it.

Yeah you gain levels mostly by doing the main quests, also ride around looking for places of power as each one gives you a character point.

Nah, this is just a case of poor DX12 implementation by CDPR... And their engine supports DX12 flawlessly since they used it for Cyberpunk.

You get more XP for killing monsters that are a higher level than you. If you do this you level up quickly.

Just finished her questline.

Killed her this time. I'd forgotten that was an option for her. I've forgotten a lot of quest outcomes, which is great for replaying it.

I always remembered being quite shocked when I learnt that was an option.

I think it's pretty smooth by now, you'll be fine playing it on console.

I meant mods that create quality adjustments in the gameplay. Like not stealing away xp from lower level quests so it feels more rewarding.

To be honest I think it's necessary for your enjoyment, it's a pretty straightforward experience unlike the older titles so I think you should be just fine , you could even use a walk through to see which order you should do the quests in .

But then again if you're to bothered up about the stuff you mentioned go with the pc version, according to experience it doesn't run too bad on hardware leaning on the weaker side.

Ive completed the game a few times already.

Gonna go with Triss this playthrough. Sorry Yenn, I'm not falling for your hard to get act this time.

The bloody Baron is Robert Baratheon.
The regional accents are brilliant in the game. But speaking of Triss, her American accent is odd. I know some of the Witchers have one too but hers sticks out.

So you should have a pretty good idea of what you want from the game , no?

The next gen pc update is apparently terrible though so consider that as well.

Well i tried the latest patch on pc and it runs very poorly im a few hours into my ng+ save on ps5 and think i cant be bothered to start all over again.
