I had my first post-Wire sighting today of one of the actors from the show. The guy who plays the crooked drug lawyer, Maury Levy, was in an Arby's commercial. He doesn't have a line, he's just a shlubby-looking guy walking down the street, briefcase in one hand, Arby's sandwich in another. He walks past a group of construction workers, who ogle his sandwich. It was pretty sad.
I had heard David Simon, among others, complaining that after so many black actors had performed so well in this show, he was afraid that now that it's over, they'll have trouble getting work that's as interesting, because parts for black actors in movies and films are usually one-dimensional. Instead Levy is the first to be seen slumming - wonder who will be next.
I hope you're right (especially Bunk and Omar), but I'd imagine at least a few of them will find it hard to consistently get work with any substance. Of course, compared to The Wire, everything else is less substantial.I reckon Marlow, Bunk, ,Omar, and Daniels will all be getting good roles now. Reckon that Michael and Dukie will too, if they work hard and pursue it.
Heartbroken about what happened to Dukie
Loved how Michael seems to have turned into the new Omar
This was a brilliant show. Is it definitely finished, someone from America?
Senator Clay Davis is a legend.
I'm about to start watching the Wire soon, looking forward to it. I've seen the first 5 episodes of series one before but I want to start from the beginning again. It's complex and has a lot of characters so I don't want to get lost!
Yeah, i suppose that was the theme of the last few episodes. The more things change the more things stay the same. Duquon was deffo going the way of Bubbles but that character`s arc whilst painful had a relatively happy ending. Same with Omar for me, death was probably a release.
The 5th and final series starts tonight on FX for those yet to see it.
Think its at 10pm.
Saw the last episode of series 4 on Friday. Awesome stuff, the part where Wee Bay gives up his son to Colvin was very emotional too.
How did the show not get nominated for an emmy, and Omar for a supporting actor nod, absurd.
Too dark and downbeat for mainstream America.
Omar while being my favourite, is seriously hard to believe as a character. My only real gripe with the show in fairness.

But he's Batman. Particularly in season 5. Great character and I personally feel the fantasy elements work really well with the tone of the show.
I have serious problems with season 5 with the fake serial killer plot line but I think it has some good moments and the last few episodes pull it together and it finishes well.
Series 1,3 and 4 are something else though.
Omar is good but Stringer Bell is my favourite character.
