Television The Walking Dead

Boring episode. Enjoyed the first three though, hopefully the drama will pick up next episode.

Still can't really working out who the 'villain' is right now. I know the zombies should be the real enemy, but there needs to be a bad guy, right?

Chill out, it's only been one episode since the last one died.

This thread is the redcafe equivalent of RAWK. The spoiler stuff goes too far IMO, but oh well. I didn't mind the episode. It was slower paced but interesting.

I didnt mind this episode given the first three. Its ok when every 3rd or 4th ep is like this as opposed to every ep like this (season 2).

I'll spoiler just in case

I missed it but someone told me everybody hates Chris said something about looking for his uncle so possible his uncle could be of the T-Dawg variety.

That was a painful post to read but I'm going to go ahead and assume you that you meant
that Noah is looking for his uncle and his uncle is likely also black and thus it is likely that his uncle is Morgan. I'm going to agree.

I refuse to frequent RAWK. Please elaborate on your analogy. Are you saying that there are too many spoilers or the moderation/complaining of them is over the top?

People on here call RAWK 'North Korea' because of the way the moderators run things. Threads are frequently locked, posters banned etc. I just meant that the rules for this thread regarding spoilers are too strict.

Cheers. If you scroll through the last two pages I think you'll find I agree. Although I've resolved to not bother engaging in a dialogue about it in this thread anymore. Seems futile.

Season 3 was awful, made me stop watching the show. Is the show still bad?

My summary so far:

Season 1: probably the best season overall, but it was also the shortest, so it was easier to keep us hooked.
Season 2: the worst season by a country mile. I can't believe they spent a whole season at that damn farm.
Season 3: sort of a mix between s1 and s2. They kept the story going, with plenty of action, but it was still a bit too slow.
Season 4: the first half of this season is the best part of the series so far. The second half was a bit slow, but the character development was great.
Season 5: very good start, reminds me a bit of the pacing in the first half of s4. I hope they can keep this up.

It's not a good comparison at all. This is a thread for the TV show. Here is the thread for the comic books. If you check, you'll see the comic book thread is not locked at all.

I can agree with this. Think the start to this season has been excellent, with last night's episode being the inevitable slowing down point but still providing some great moments. I'm enjoying the pace of the show now after despising how slow and labouring the second season was on that bloody farm. Not sure how keen I am on the story bouncing between the three groups, though.
(Not sure if scenes from next week need to be spoiler tagged or not...) But it appears that next week will be about Abraham and the crew that left the church. Just as I was getting in to the hospital storyline and still waiting to find out who Darryl has with them (even though the smart money is on it being Morgan or Noah)

I'm aware. I just find it silly that posts about interviews or trailers cannot be made despite the fact that they are available to everyone and so aren't really 'spoilers.' I don't really care, for me though it is just seems restricting in regards to discussion. But I'll follow the rules.

Im sure the posts can be made, just need to be spoilered tagged. TBH, I dont wanna read about an interview with an actor who will say this is his last season (as its inevitable whats gonna happen).

I 'spoilered' a post about the season five trailer but that was deemed unacceptable. I have no idea if the same applies for the end of episode previews for next week too? Possibly. It's just those things that seem a bit excessive.

Really? Im surprised about that. hmmm ,maybe I need to read the rules :/

Agreed.
Can someone explain this?...
- any and all comment related to future developments must be placed in spoiler tags even if the information comes from an official interview or a "next week on ..." clip at the end of an episode.
How the hell does that jive with this:
- "Next week on ..." clips and trailers aren't considered to be part of an episode and should never be posted even in spoiler tags.

Surely this can't mean you can discuss the next week on but can't post the actual video itself? These "guidelines" seem to be in direct conflict to me....

@Wibble

I didn't find that episode boring whatsoever. You have to re-define what you accept as good. You can't always have character development in an environment where dialogue is short and pace is quick. It simply doesn't allow depth of character very easily. In my opinion, the episode was paced perfectly as an introductory one to the various characters in the hospital. We learned more about them by it being a predominately dialogue-based episode, and the pay off is that you end up becoming a little more involved with characters ethical and moral positions, which makes you care about them.

If the pace remains what it is in the first three episodes, then you don't develop Beth, you see the hospital characters in a shallow light and down the road you don't care what happens to them. That kind of episode is necessary to me. I scored it high because I value dialogue based episodes.

Im just glad they didnt do the normal thing of focusing on beth whole episode then killing her off because they focused on her.

I don't get how they can do 3 episodes with not even a scene with her in it but they do a full episode just on her. I hope it doesn't go back too being slow paced and boring again. I just hope they go Washington soon!

I don't get why they decided to split up in the end... Just why?

If they hadn't split there would be no reason to meet them again. Those three on the way to Washington are not really part of the group.

Where to Rick and co plan on going though?

I'm not sure if I just missed it during the episode, but I thought they had agreed to go to Washington but suddenly come the end of the episode they go separate ways (with two of the original group going with the others to Washington), without explaining why Rick and co decided not to go with them.

They were waiting for Daryl to come back. I think the plan was when he came back they'd follow to Washington.

Aaah, that's right. Still stupid to split up, especially when there was one usable Bus that could take ALL of them. They should have waited another day or two, especially after taking out the remainder of the Terminus people.

TBH, as stupid as the show has been at times, at least this time, the splitting up was explained and all.

Daryl was initially with Beth when she got taken so he feels a need to get her back. Daryl and Carol were near the car, when Daryl saw the car that took Beth and obviously went after it.
With them going after it, it split those two up. Rick (group1) wanted to wait for Daryl but Abraham (group2) didnt want to. (Only thing is why did he ask for Glen and Maggie and Glen agreed after that pretty crappy showdown). So group 2 have gone off in the bus that they got working, Rick will wait and then they will all join up.

Yeah...
