The Trump Presidency - Part 2

The people deserve what they have voted for

Did he run on deflation as a policy? It is hard, in the sense that it would require extremely high interest rates and would come coupled with high unemployment, and isn't desirable anyway. It's obviously not a goal, and it's also a central bank thing, not something the president can do.

Wasn’t a major paraphrased reason people voted for Trump because things are more expensive now, and Trump played on the angle of things being cheaper and people being better off when he was president?

Even if it’s not stated, the assumption you would make there is that it was believed things could go back to being cheaper under him, no?

Trump clearly stated he could and would reduce the cost of everything, and very easily and quickly too. He also said he would reduce inflation.

I mean, he pretty much said so in every single fecking speech he made and often multiple times a day thought the entire election campaign.

The people deserve what they have voted for
The people, or more accurately most of the people, don't know what they voted for.
The people who are meant to inform the people have failed them.
The people who are meant to educate the people have also failed them but just not as badly.

Trumps America: everything’s for sale

It always was but they used to pretend it wasn’t

Bezos and Zuck chipping in with millions to Trump's inauguration. It's quite clever, actually. Trump is easy to appease/manipulate. Just cozy up to him a bit, and he'll be your bestest friend and let you do your thing in peace.

The selection criteria is: "a person, group, idea, or object that, for better or for worse, has done the most to influence the events of the year". With that in mind, how is it retarded to pick Donald Trump?
With that in mind why not chose Musk?

How is it not retarded to pick Trump?

Quite clever? This isn’t a Trump thing, it’s bipartisan buttery that’s been going on since the start of democracy.

Bezos and Zuckerberg are capitalists and quite frankly billionaire scum. There’s this weird idea people have that they are somehow sensible or have liberal tenancies because they donate to both parties. They donate to both parties because they want to lobby their own interests and nothing more.

Because he made one of the biggest political comebacks ever, winning the presidential election handily, and dominating the news cycles once again?

Not saying he was the only possible pick, but to suggest he wasn’t even a contender by calling the pick ‘retarded’ is just dumb. I suspect you didn’t know the criteria and just won’t admit that.

I've no problem admitting I didn't know the criteria. So what? The perception is that it's an award for Trump .That's what I have a problem with.

Only in his deranged mind that can be considered an "award". It's not a prize for how great a person someone is.

It’s a selection not an award. The only ones that will honestly perceive it as an award are those that know nothing about it. What they choose to write about him is what matters.

I know what it actually is.
Trump and Co don't as Don Jnr has already illustrated.

I’ve got a mate who thinks RFK jnr is gonna sort out big pharma and ban pharma companies from being allowed to donate to political parties

I think the chance of that is close to zero, personally…

Thoughts anyone?

I think that your mate is talking shite.

You forgot rapes, abuses, sexually assaults, bullies, eats pizza with a knife and fork and enjoys a Filet-O-Fish.
Ketchup on a well done steak washed down by a Diet Coke after cheating in a round of golf were no one was keeping score. Wants to feck his daughter. Doesn't pay his bills etc.
I always thought the Obama's were the.perfect example of the American family. They pretty much live the quintessential American dream from the fairytale that America tells itself. Barack's upbringing, although it would certainly raise eyebrows back then (not so much in Hawaii), would be perfectly normal today.
Michelle, upper tier middle class intelligent woman who was always going to be a champ regardless.
Two beautiful daughters doing their thing even though the Enquirer readers think they are boarding on a crack addiction because they were photographed smoking a cigarette.
Nope. The quintessential American family in the eyes of this country is the Trump family. Always was and always will be. No matter how dysfunctional a white wealthy family is that will always better a perfectly healthy family of color.

I've made a life here and enjoyed almost every minute of it but I watched Boogie Nights last week and could totally relate to part when Burt Reynolds shrugs to the feck her in the ass request, knowing it's never going to be the way it was. feck it though, go back far enough and you will find nearly every country is a fecking joke.
But this is the person we have elected twice knowing that the first time was a fecking shambles. There's just no logic in it and thats the most frustrating part. Maybe they should kick everything back to the states for a generation or two. That would be a proper test of the constitution and maybe show if this country is as polarized as it seems. I want to see this country tested from the inside.
