The Trump Presidency : Part 2

And then this beauty as well...

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is boasting on the front page of The Wall Street Journal that, “Ukraine will not legally recognize the occupation of Crimea. There’s nothing to talk about here.” This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and is not even a point of discussion. Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian Territory but, if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired? The area also houses, for many years before “the Obama handover,” major Russian submarine bases. It’s inflammatory statements like Zelenskyy’s that makes it so difficult to settle this War. He has nothing to boast about! The situation for Ukraine is dire — He can have Peace or, he can fight for another three years before losing the whole Country. I have nothing to do with Russia, but have much to do with wanting to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, who are dying for no reason whatsoever. The statement made by Zelenskyy today will do nothing but prolong the “killing field,” and nobody wants that! We are very close to a Deal, but the man with “no cards to play” should now, finally, GET IT DONE. I look forward to being able to help Ukraine, and Russia, get out of this Complete and Total MESS, that would have never started if I were President!

Plus ones about one Rupert Murdoch promising him he would change his Pollster (Fake, crooked always gets Trump wrong etc)

He's pissed at something today that's for sure. He's posted about a dozen times in the last hour.

FFS. So if someone steals from you, it's your fault for not fighting? Classic victim blaming.

I get the feeling that there must have been someone whose opinion he does listen to has told him he is an idiot.

It's a simple legal fact that Zelensky by law/constitution is not allowed to acknowledge Crimea (or any other Ukrainian territory). What would be possible would be some kind of accepting the status quo (like it happened 2014) - not legally acknowledging it as part of Russia, but also not doing anything against it to have peace.

Unlike the United Stupidity of America Ukraine actually cares about stuff like law, constitution or separation of powers.

Fair points.

Having a huge white majority society like Russia is appealing to them and what many are calling to go back to in most of Europe too. The levels of racism and hatred aimed at people of colour has gone off the charts. In the UK and lots of Europe it's definitely more Islamaphobia but the outright racism towards all is definitely there as well.
Most Muslims in Europe are in Russia though, which can't be very appealing to them.

I’ve got a trip to NY booked for December for my wife and my 20 year anniversary, and I’m genuinely starting to kinda worry about it.

We’ve got a hotel obviously, but I’ve got tattoos not massively dissimilar to this guys and if they search my phone for the Cheeto’s name there’s a myriad of content for them to take issue with.

I’ve been to the US more times than I can count, and never had any issues, it might not be entirely rational but it’s worrying.
You will be fine.

Hotel reservations are a must for pretty much any country, just that the US usually did not request ones if you came from the EU or UK. But in general, every country can ask for them (and if you have a bad passport like me, they request to see them even in countries that do not require visa).

He must be feeling so feeble at this point given how Xi and Putin have handled him so dismissively in public.
Maybe he can invite someone to the White House and bully them on live TV.

But yeah, I think you are right. He is obviously spinning hard to his base, but he is being played by other major leaders, and he probably realizes it. I doubt he enjoys it. I forget who it was, but someone recently pointed out that he is much better in opposition than in power. All his whining it just extremely hollow when he actually holds pretty much all the power.

No, it's just me misremembering the name, sorry!
No need to apologise. I’ve just wondered wether there was a pun somewhere. These events get remembered differently around the world, so I was curious.
My grandma comes from near Bitburg, by the way. Lovely region.

We've already seen security isn't the best at these events. God forbid there be any other crackpots with a rifle out there.

I'm not convinced. I don't do conspiracy theories but something about that whole thing absolutely stinks. So many questions and so much of what was shown and reported just doesn't add up at all. But until proof comes out that says otherwise I have to accept it was real. The ramifications of it not being real are also just too great to contemplate.

Re the Michigan rally and this statement from the Trump team:

"Michiganders are benefitting from President Trump’s agenda to revitalize our economy and secure the southern border, and the best is yet to come!“

Meanwhile - back in reality lots of layoffs in the automotive industry, MI unemployment tracking ahead of the nation average, and MI has a very low percentage of immigrants from across the southern border. Hell I'm not sure the last time I saw someone Mexican who wasn't multiple generations in. Most of our immigrants in this area are from the middle east and Eastern Europe. I don't think they came from the southern border.

He's President now, security will not be lax and he won't be arriving in the plane shown in the video either

Go Støre & Stoltenberg

I'm very happy we have competent leaders in this period.

Btw, a nugget for us Noggies :p I bet there is an overlap between Norwegian Trump supporters and those who hate Støre/Stoltenberg. How do you think they feel hearing their orange hero praising Støre as a leader? :D

Oh definitely. Looking at the 3 in the oval office, we really have it quite alright in Norway

They are probably confused and angry

Støre is a fairly shit PM, but Trump has pretty much won AP the election. much more suited as a foreign minister.

I don't think we should get into Norwegian politics in this thread, but I like Støre as PM a lot. Probably the most qualified and competent PM we've ever had next to Stoltenberg. Getting rid of SP was a godsend for his Premiership.

Trump seem to think he is popular in Norway or something.

So it would seem. Stoltenberg is one of his favorites for some reason.

Stoltenberg is a natural diplomat, so there is that, though, Norway surely has no love for Trump, but i guess better to not let him know that though.

Stoltenberg is fecking brilliant. I can assure you that most Norwegians hate Trump

Can’t stand the Orange tw@t but I think that type of outcome would be disastrous. It would turn him into a martyr and radicalise his base even more. President Vance would be bad enough but what comes after?

The path he’s taking is already hitting his base in their pockets. Independents hold the biggest majority of voters and they can’t be loving what they’ve seen so far either. Let him dig his own grave.

I see that there are still people that try to makes sense and find some honesty on what he says

In Norway Stoltenberg is known as the "Trump whisperer" for how he handled him during Trump's first term.

Agreed.

He does seem to have a diplomatic way of talking which seems to oddly resonate with Trump.

Trump, in his infinite obsession with power and self-aggrandizement probably viewed Stoltenberg's time leading NATO as an 'Emperor of Europe' of sorts, which probably led to a bit of admiration.

Trump doesn’t give a shit about fighting antisemitism, in fact he is himself an antisemite. And far-left? I wish.

This is revisionism at best, naive head-on-sand stuff at worst. Trump has consistently stated he wants to leave NATO, even calling it obsolete. How can he admire the leader of an org he sees at obsolete? Never mind the fact that he's publicly berated allies over defense spending. That’s not how someone who sees Stoltenberg as an “emperor” he admires would act

Stoltenberg has always been known for quiet and calm diplomacy, coalition-building through consensus, and a steady hand. These are the kind of traits that Trump continually mocks. Trump admires "powerful" autocrats who act by themselves (Putin, Kim Jong-un), not cooperative globalists

Yet he’s always spoken highly of Jens.

That's a different issue than liking Stoltenberg the person. He does have no love for NATO the concept, because it doesn't support his transactional world view of the US getting something back in return the amount of power it contributes to underwrite collective security.
