Right Wing politicians will always put self interest above anything
Usually Republican senators find some conscience, when it has no implications for the end result of a vote. Case in point, Mitch McConnell voting against RFK Jr.'s confirmation, because he knew he would get in anyway.
The lone exception to this rule was John 'The Maverick' McCain on the ACA repeal vote, although who knows if he was actually lucid at that point.
