The Trump Presidency - Part 2

As of right now the greatest and existential danger to quite a few members of the EU is not a climate change thought and that’s the point, the EU is not acting and shifting priorities based on the changing environment because slow and weak EU bureaucrats in Brussels don’t feel this immediate threat and are dumb enough to not realize that the EU will fall like house of cards if one of its members gets attacked, what’s the point of the union which doesn’t care for its members?

one of it's members is under attack and it hasn't fallen like a house of cards though so maybe you're being a bit dramatic

I’ve just watched the first half of Vance’s speech. Meed a break from the bullshit so I’ll watch the rest later.

The irony of him scolding Europe for random instances of censorship the same week the White House banned the Associated press for still using the term the Gulf of Mexico is fecking insane.

This administration is insane, but worryingly, sane and driven behind the Trumps, Vance’s and Musks, I fear.

He also decided to lecture Europe for not controlling immigration. That is good coming from the US.
The whole speech was an unmitigated disaster. But both Vance and Trump will think the polar opposite.
Honestly. The state of politicians in 2025 thinking they have a right to lecture everyone else while totally failing to sort their own back yard out.

Which EU member state was invaded again?

apologies I meant Ukraine is under attack, but obviously that is a major threat to the EU

suffice to say they haven’t folded, and the chances of an EU nation folding are much less than that

I would be only be hypocritical if I defended the Romanian situation.
The ironic thing is was the US Statement Department who also raised concern about Russian interference in the Romanian election. Additionally the US Governmenr backed a rerun (obviously it was Biden not Trump). But it would be good if this hypocrisy is mentioned in news reports.

Fair points.

The whole "X" interference is a big pile of hypocrisy when AIPAC can just made an organization that legally and openly donating (bribing) both sides of party to steer the country's military decision and direct funding of tax payer money

That's the plan, though, isn't it? Just create an overload of issues so that the media and people can't give the right attention to everything.
It just seems to me such a number of executive orders in such a short span would just clog the entire machine before they are even digested and then implemented properly? If the aim is to suspend democracy “because times are difficult” and we cannot be slow in action and reaction, that’s a trick they are employing with purpose to me.

That's exactly what's happening. Trump has max 2 years before people start turning attention to primaries and succession - he needs this year to be an absolute mess so that he can suspend that.

The thing to remember though is to stay positive. Things may be bad now, but they're not as bad as they're about to get so let's enjoy this bad while it lasts.

Even if/when the Democrats get back in, they won't change that Gulf stuff back because people will become so accustomed to it over the next 4 years and they will fear changing it back will be seen as "anti-American".

Just brute forcing stupidity on to the world.

I always knew it would be the Scottish Government who would police our thoughts. Tartan Totalitarianism was always an inevitably. That chaotic alcy stereotype was obviously always just a cover.

A handful of people are tearing apart the current world order. Such an act of wanton destruction of global institutions, alliances, and value systems. The legislature has folded in without a spine, and even if the judiciary blocks something, the executive has said it will (and has already begun to) ignore these court rulings.

Putin and co must be wondering if this is all a dream, they couldn't have dismantled the West any better or any faster themselves.

Some white South Africans showed support for President Donald Trump on Saturday and gathered at the US Embassy in Pretoria to claim they are victims of racism by their own government.
Hundreds of protesters held placards that read “Thank God for President Trump” and displayed other messages criticizing what they see as racist laws instituted by the South African government that discriminate against the white minority.

Yeah that was bizarre from Vance. Not the comment itself, that's just par for the course with these morons. But making something negative up about the Scottish government? Why make something up and not just pick something from the big shit tip of mistakes? Ffs our first minister had to resign because her husband bought a tiny RV and they've spent almost half a billion on "green" ferries that are less green than the diesel ones they're replacing. The only good thing that Sturgeon seems to have done in recent years is say that Liz Truss was as useful as a marzipan dildo.
