The Trump Presidency - Part 2

All those people who abstained voting for Harris because of the previous administration's soft touch on Israel are going to be thrilled with their decision this morning.
I've always despised this form of voting abstinence. People that let perfection getting in the way of good. You saw similar in the UK where people wouldn't vote because Labour wasn't left wing enough.

How far are we from Trump saying Gaza or the whole area should become the next American state?
He has to say increasingly bat-shit stuff to keep the world's attention I suppose, so they don't get too bored and report on all the shit he's doing behind the curtain.

I'm not sure perfection getting in the way of good is much of an appropriate phrasing when 'good' here is the murder, starvation and ethnic cleaning of women and children.

Bad phrasing, yes, but I guess it's a matter of ethics and a bit like a trolley problem. I understand it's a terrible dilemma, but if I had to choose between a guy that kills 10 thousand of my brothers and a guy that kills a 100 thousand of them, I'd still reluctantly go for option A.
Then again I understand there are people with a bit different priorities and drives, for some perhaps showing the middle finger to the political class they don't like was the only important thing, some were probably heavily influenced by the propaganda. It doesn't affect the situation and the reality - everything seems to suggest and there's every reason to believe that Palestinians and Gaza were in a terrible spot and now they found themselves in an even worse one, with more deaths, more ethnical cleansing and less hope for their own, independent land. So if I were an American who voted primarily on the Gaza issue and hoped Trump brings change, I'd have no issue admitting "I voted for change and change I got".

The only rational explanation as to what is going on,

But you are factually incorrect, Biden killed a lot more Palestinians than Trump did in his 4 years in charge.

I didn’t compare 2016-2020 to 2020-2024, we’re talking about what will happen in the upcoming months and years
Think we will have to revisit this in 4 years then, as no other way of validating your claim.

This is such a false equivalence. Joe Biden isn't just not perfect, he isn't good. In fact he is evil. And Kamala has supported publicly all his decisions, and from what I've heard of her before he even became VP he isn't really a great character.

I'm not a US citizen, but I'd never, never, never let anything or anyone to convince me for people that support and enable genocide. That's not good, that's just evil and SO FAR, nothing Trump has done is comparable with what Joe Biden's administration has done.

I'd never vote for Trump either, he is a reprehensible man without a single virtue. But if a friend told me he would vote for Trump because he is in fact lesser evil, I wouldn't have much to counter it.

Trump suggests tariffs for Canada and Mexico. Markets down, trump postpones.

Trump threatens ethnic cleansing of gaza, Markets up today. He ain’t walking that one back

Cutting government programs for the public is neoliberalism. So are tax cuts for the rich (trickle down economics). Standard.

A fundamental of neoliberalism is free trade. Also a neoliberal wouldn't be trying to bring home jobs.

Trump wants to tax the rich by bringing back the corporations from tax havens like Ireland. He is a protectionist.

Also he spend to much in his first term. We will have to see if he cuts the budget this time.

the very last think neoliberals want is free trade.

They want every aspect of life to have its thumb on the scales in their favour, Trade included.

Ypu need to read an economics book. Free trade is an absolute fundamental of neoliberalism.

I do. What you don;t understand is that there is no such thing as free trade, just systems that favour particular people. That is what neoliberalism seeks.

You said the last thing neo-liberals want is free trade, when it actual fact it’s a fundamental part of everything it stands for. What you said is the equivalent of saying “the last thing McDonald’s want is for people to buy burgers”

You can't tell me it's basically market manipulation at the very highest level. He did the exact same shit during his first term and magically a certain select few profited greatly from playing the markets as one crazy announcement followed another.

On another note not sure if this was posted yet but USPS suddenly no longer accepting packages from China and Hong Kong:

That seems to play into two different types of hands: those who want to discredit and destroy USPS (which is another thing Trump and co want to do), and 2. Guess who gets hurt the most by the likes of Temu and AliExpress; Mr. Bezos. Amazon sells a lot of the same crap but at higher prices than those sites do but of course it takes away from their profit line. It wouldn't surprise if they already have talks going on along the lines of; hey Chinese companies we ll continue to sell the same stuff you do and therefore take your product. However, now that you can no longer directly sell to the US we ll raise our prices even higher than what you charged. Then we ll give you a percentage of the sales and you make more money than before. Sound good?

Conspiracy level thinking perhaps but if this clown in charge has shown anything blatanly clear is that its purely about enrichment of the very few.

Semantics, the message is obvious. Voting for the lesser evil should be obvious when no other alternative exists.

Welcome to the Oligarchy.

It will be justified as being a way to prevent fentanyl coming into the country. Like fentanyl is coming with your iphone case from Temu.

I hope it's not wiping but 'just' putting the website offline. And copies probably exist around the world.

Still, it's the same as banning books on racism and diversity from school libraries. It's totalitarian and very scary. (Also hugely ironic coming from all those self-declared free-speech champions; but laughing at them feels very inappropriate while they're doing what they're doing...)

With all the stuff that's going on I wouldn't really call it conspiracy level thinking anymore. Anything goes.

No, again, They don;t want free trade. They want trade on their terms, that inevitably benefits the idividuals and organizations that they also benefit from.

Its not trade they dislike, its the idea of free trade. Neoliberals play with a marked deck, its the only way they can win. The rules are for others, and the idea of 'free' trade is an anethema to them.

You’re just making up your own definition, going against a well known consensus. No point discussing anything with someone who makes up their own understanding of things.

No, no they didn't. The USA has a population of 340m or so people. 77m voted for Trump. Less than 1/4 of the populace.
Did you read the second part of my short post? And 340m  Are you counting the babies, toddlers, and all other intelligible to vote people?
