The True Geordie

Doesn't this all seem a bit extreme?
Yes. Everyone agrees it was a stupid thing to say. I don't think he deserves this much damage, though. Everyone says stupid things from time to time.

It's going to take him some time to get those sponsors back, and no doubt there's innocent victims who will have to take pay cuts etc and maybe even leave his prod. team because of what he said.

Na, pretty much goes with their policies. The worst thing about this is it wasn’t even said as a joke. He just hates Andrew Tate that much and obviously has issues with Muslims, that’s not something that you accidentally say never mind knowing you’re being broadcast.
here’s my question, was this a live video? If it was pre recorded then it’s even more shambolic.

Maybe the 'threshold' for getting cancelled is lower if there's a pre-existing consensus that the content creator is a twat and/or is already creating a toxic environment in general anyway.

Not saying this necessarily existed with TG and those around him (Laurence) but he has at least had his fair share of petty YouTube drama that he's surely too old and you'd think his target audience would be too old for as well.

I don't know much about this guy's past indiscretions. If he has a history of unacceptable language or behaviour, then okay. Otherwise this all just seems a bit much.

Not really. These are private companies that have autonomy who they can sponsor and partner with. If one of their employees says or behaves in a way that goes against their values then it’s their right to terminate the partnership.

No one is cancelling him here other than himself. No one dug up old tweets, or old social media posts or leaked any recordings. This is something he said on his own public platform very recently. He only has himself to blame.

The secondary point is that Islamophobia is the highest faith based hate crime according to the ONS in 21-22. These type of comments feed into it and normalise the hate.

For saying a person converted to Islam should "blow himself up and see how he is about that life"?

No I'd argue any bans are overdue.

You can guarantee those saying it's extreme wouldn't be saying the same if he used a racist or trans/homophobic term. Deserves all he gets.

The fact someone as downright disgusting and awful as Andrew Tate, along with people who bizarrely idolise him, will take this all as a victory really shows what a mess this world is in. Just bin them all.

I think this is definitely true. There’s usually more public desire for comeuppance for certain people and that gets used against them. That’s the aspect I feel people refer to when they say ‘cancel culture’. The fact that the outrage can seemingly vary depending on the consensus surrounding them. I don’t think anyone would question the fact that companies are within their rights to pull out of partnerships etc. That’s just how the world works.
Doesn't this all seem a bit extreme?
I’ve heard some get cancelled for less, and some get away with more. It’s a dumb as feck thing to say and ultimately he can’t have any complaints - nobody else forced those words out.

He deserves this, for sure, and that parasite McKenna does as well. But I’m surprised this of all things seems to be the one to have career-damaging consequences. Even as someone who thinks he’s a bad guy, banning him from twitch over this seems inconsistent when he’s come away from much worse unscathed.

Social media has become a acceptable disease.

So many people wasting their own lives trying to police everyone else's life .. such a toxic environment.

Social media does have its uses. But yeah it has changed our lives to be more centered around others. "Look at the good food I eat", "Look at the nice places I visited", "Look at me going to the gym", "Look at what you did, its bad", "How dare you say that, thats unacceptable". Theyre all the same, centered around others and their reactions. Either trying to give other people too much attention or trying to get other peoples attention.

He deserves a ban for the apology more than the initial incident. Shocking attempt of an apology. Anyway, they won’t be missed.

Nothing extreme or surprising about the sponsors pulling out or the ban. It’s not hard to not say stupid shit and not be an idiot. Especially when it’s multiple instances.

Before he said this he’s said a lot of stuff which is on the line regarding women and people in the lgbt community so it was only a matter of time before he said something that was going to get him into actual troublez

Laurence and Brian and two truely unlikable lads and it was only a matter of time before Geordie flew to close to the Sun.

If anyone who doesnt know who these guys are, check out the ''Leaving Youtube'' video on the True Geordie channel. Id be interested to hear what first time listeners thing of these two talking about moving to Twitch for the money.

Never liked him or that Laurence McKenna. Two smug snide twats who are up their own arses with shitty generic opinions on pretty much everything.
No idea how they got so big in the first place

True Geordie was genuine and good in early part of his career but McKenna was never big. Never had any talent and never had anything to offer. He was the tapeworm scrounging and feeding off True Geordie whilst being a thoroughly unlikeable person.

Latest attempt with a 4 minute video. He has finally FINALLY decided to listen, learn and change after losing sponsors left right and centre and FINALLY decided to make an apology video this time. Needs multiple attempts getting one simple thing right. Idiot.

His latest apology reminds me of one of the (many) apologies Michael Richards made where he said he would tackle racism and meet with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton after his meltdown on stage where he racially abused a table for "Heckling" him at The Laugh Factory.

How's he not been cancelled I've only watched one short and think this guy is vile.
I mean he's been banned from every social media platform.

And 'cancelling' him doesn't work, his whole shtick thrives on this siege mentality of the whole world out to get him.

I hadn’t properly watched or heard of him til quite recently (last 5 years or so), so I trust you’re right in that he used to be good.
Can’t stand him these days though

Finding consistency in Twitch bans is more difficult than finding Donnie on the pitch...
That having been said True G absolutely deserves this.

Oh right. I had never heard of him before this whole thing with TG and watched a video saying that a woman's place was serving him. I don't do the whole cancelling thing myself. I'm not an keyboard warrior. I just wouldn't listen to him.

Good riddance to TG and Laurence. They've sailed close to the wind many times, or at least TG has, so feck 'em

They are a weird bunch slagging off former content creators they have had on; Blue Van Man, and going in on the charity football match "clash of the creators" hiding behind a pretense of comedy but really they're just snarky pricks.
