The Transfer Deadline Day Thread / Most crazy ever?

To be fair, getting Bale for £80M and selling Özil for £40M isn't all that bad. In effect, they paid Özil (a bench warmer) and £40M for one of the world's top talents. In my opinion, Isco is superior to Özil too, which is why £40M is nice for them.

They got rid of Higuain, basically shifting Ronaldo centrally to take over his duties and paid 80m for Bale to pretend to be Ronaldo while they paid near 60m to replace Ozil and Kaka. It's been a horror of a transfer window for them as they've overpaid for all of their signings while not improving their team in the short term and with Madrid, it's always short term as they'll sack their managers as soon as they get outshone by Barcelona.

They replaced Ozil with Isco and made a £15m profit on it, they sold Albiol, Callejon and Higuain for over £50m an spent £85m on Bale so there's only a £20m net spend right here. Then they also spent £28m on Illarramendi which is a bit steep but they needed him. All in all they will have spent around £50m - £60m net and IMO their team will look much better.

Listening to Mayesy on Sky Sports Radio and he's going hard on the transfers saying we should be going for Ozil and Mata. Football manager style madness!

Time is running out for us.. People need to calm down a bit, this could get very ugly if the worst happens...

Conflicting reports. Apparently we can buy McCarthy without Fellaini money, and the Fellaini money will just let us get Fernando. I think we will only get one of the two tbh.

BBC Sport's Saj Chowdhury: "I just bumped into former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves in Manchester. I asked him whether he had been following the latest developments on transfer deadline day, to which he responded, "not a chance".
"I then informed the former Bayern Munich player that Arsenal had agreed a £42.4m deal with Real Madrid for Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil. His response to that? "Really? They don't even need him."

Tit

He'll improve Arsenal because he's a good player - but it seems like a big name panic but to appease the fans unless others come in.

Their squad is threadbare, they need a forward, a centre back and a keeper at least or it could be a very long season. The money they're committing to this deal could probably have been used a big more wisely for me.

I'll just add some detail to this...

Their departures this year have made a combined loss of around £18m (although we can't be sure how much Ozil will be sold for so this might change, I put in 42.4m). Kaka going for free dragged it down from a nice profit to a loss.

If you take the Arrivals and then subtract the Departures, Real have an Expenditure so far of £44.7m. Again this will change depending on the price of Ozil sale. The key with Madrid though is they've sold players aged mid 20's or in their 30's and replaced them with very young players. No stop gap signings, all signings for the future.

Any updated pictures of Stoke fans outside the ground?

That Dharmesh Sheth is fecking ridiculous. They are just football transfers and he makes it sound as serious as a third world war breaking out.

what about the wages though?

Imagine if we sign no one today and Moyes comes out tomorrow to tell everyone that we are working hard on bringing players in and we are hopeful something can be done in January.

I'd imagine their bill will be lower. Higuain, Özil and Kaka must have been on high wages while Isco is probably not earning that much, Bale will have a massive contract but it will be offset by a smaller deal for Illarramendi.
