Television The Traitors (BBC) | Series 3 now airing. If you watch episodes on the iPlayer that haven't aired on the BBC television, put discussion in spoilers

yeah, Traitors isn't anything like those other reality shows BUT I have been annoyed that they appear to be going in the direction of other shows in terms of signing up influencers to be in the cast.

Imagine being a staff member and posting in a thread for a tv show you don't even watch. Jesus, moderate the forums instead.
You do realise that we are volunteers and posters as well and allowed an opinion just like everyone else? So no. I'll post my opinion just like any other poster thank you.

I didn't realise it was a binary choice. Hilarious that people are so butt hurt about someone not liking a program.
Not one person couldn't care less about you liking it or not. Its the fact that youve taken it upon yourself to come into this thread and shit on it, spouting the most bizarre opinions (id honestly like to know how you find the show similar to love island? They're completely different and concepts) and have doubled down since being called out.

Weird behavior for a mod, you'd be called a wum if not for your staff badge.

It would appear that at least 3 people very much do.

All reality TV is a variation of the same nonsense - irrelevant people doing irrelevant things for the masses, who lap up. There are lots of variation from the benign like bake off and Au Masterchef to the truly brain rotting like Big Brother, Married at First Sight, Love Island and Kardashian crap, but still utter brain rotting rubbish. TikTok for the TV generation (without the funny animal clips).

That said The traitors is distasteful in its own right due to all the usual criticisms of reality TV, but with added glorification of lying, cheating and deception as desirable qualities that result in "winning".

Weird behavior for a mod, you'd be called a wum if not for your staff badge.
Modmins are poster too you know? And opinions are allowed. No idea why you would think a fairly straightforward opinion would be an attempt to be a WUM or why criticism of a reality TV show triggers you.

Didn't a traitor put themselves forward in a game last year, when they got locked in a prison or something? Though from what I recall it backfired.
This one was different. The Traitors had no control over who went out this time. It would have been foolish to put a Traitor up.

Odd.

Anyway, back on tonight. What are we thinking?
Indeed.

I reckon the rest of the faithful should be able to realise that Anna, Alexander, and Fozia/Leon are more than likely faithful, and maybe they could even finally get rid of Linda. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if they actually turn it around and focus solely on those 3 who survived the game, and then vote of those off or else some rando faithful who was apparently just sitting there and looking shifty.

Didn’t realise they were influencers. That’s a bit annoying. Also explains the bizarre way they kept showing clips of Freddie showering, or with his shirt off.

I guess you can’t run these shows without some due diligence, or else someone would get stabbed. And as soon as you run a process of candidate selection the people who come forward are inevitably going to be skewed towards attention seekers.

I applied to be on this season, had to film a video explaining why I'd be a good candidate etc.

Never heard back. Can only assume they found my redcafe account.

Nah, they've done that from Season 1. It's absurd, like some daft camp cluedo bollocks. It's certainly not anything due to influencers.

I am curious now, who are the influencers in the show @SilentWitness

I get you. I think it overlaps. It is all a big game.

I suppose I can see a likeness with Big Brother, but to me there are explicit game rules here and the main rule is the players are the ones making decisions about who leaves, not the voting public.

Yeah plus whoever comes up with the mini games deserves a lot of credit. They're almost always really clever and well thought through. Traitors falls down a bit with the challenges. They tend to feel a bit like filler. Definitely the least interesting part of the show.
Absolutely agree. They create so much tension and entertainment!

When Linda was writing the names on that picture. Good lord it was excruciatingly brilliant

Oh yeah it's totally different to BB and absolutely on a different planet in terms of how entertaining it is

Found myself curling up into a ball on the sofa.

Think we might be talking at cross purposes. I was talking about mini games from a different show (mentioned up thread) As far as Traitors goes I like all the bits in between the various challenges but the challenges not so much. The writing on the picture thing was good though. Very tense. But I suspect helped by creative editing!

Okay? Great? Go post on a thread about stuff you like and we'll post in here.
You mean like all the other threads in the Entertainment forum? People post opinions I don't agree with all the time in there but I don't get butt hurt when people don't like the things I do. Funnily enough.

They've all been voted off! Maia, Armani and Livi were the main ones. Apparently Francesca was a bit of a mini-influencer in her world of Interior Design. I guess it makes sense, you're going to have people who will look good on tv for you but I guess I just want to see a show nowadays which does just get the most average people possible.

Yeah, the challenges aren't really much of a challenge, they're guaranteed to complete them, they're just used to put people into a more stressful situation and give them more info to work with when voting people out. So they're only interesting to see anyone's odd behaviour around shields etc.

My guess they wanted a sibling duo and Maia/Armani were the standouts probably because Maia in particular is comfortable in front of a camera and due to the small amount of sibling entries.

A bit annoying but probably less to do with them being influencers. I do think the cast is a little bit too young this time round. They need a few more mid 30s to 40s in the group.

But you haven't actually seen this show, yet you insist on telling us, with an air of superiority, how shite it is.

If someone did that in other threads in the entertainment forum (e.g. "hip hop is shite and although I don't really listen to hip hop, and definitely haven't actually heard this new Kendrick Lamar album, I just know it's shite and you are all a little bit thick for enjoying it"), they would also get called out for it. If you had've actually watched more than "a part of an episode", like say the first 2-3 episodes, and concluded that it was a bit stupid and not for you, then grand. It is a bit stupid really, we all know that, but it's also quite good and interesting in other ways.

It isn't an air of superiority. It is an air of despair.

And now that you mention Hip Hop :)
