I'm not surprised. Unlike many here, I never believed there was going to be a massive clear out other than those whose contracts were expiring.

The likes of rashford, martial, Lingard, telles, Bailly, dalot etc will all be given chances to 'prove themselves' to the manager. And thus this cycle of mediocrity shall carry on.
 
Rashford can stay for another year but Lingard no thanks.
 
ETH is the manager and if he thinks these players offer something he wants to the team then that's it. Doesn't matter what the "experts" think.

The fact Lingard wants assurances like the article suggests is even more proof (like there wasn't enough already) that he should be happily let go.

Hope it isn't true, and just those two posturing about being wanted by United when they eventually sign for new clubs ("they really wanted me to stay, but I needed a new challenge").

Lingard has shown at West Ham how well he can play if given a chance - I dont see a problem with this rather than giving him away
 
There's absolutely no question rashford will be given a chance under ETH

I highly doubt lingard will be here next season though

Jesse Lingard is 30 this year and has played 230-odd games for Manchester United. He's never looked good enough aside from a few week long purple patch four years ago. How many fecking chances does he need? :wenger:

The lad is poison. He’s been leaking left right and centre and it’s clear to anyone with half a brain he’s part of the toxicity.

This club needs to move forward from having a squad full of completely unserious professionals.

But Lingard's contact is expiring.
 
Out of these two, only Lingard has better chance to be suitable in ETH’s system. Lingard is at least pressing, while Rashford is one of the laziest players on the pitch in our squad.

If you're losing Cavani, Mata, Ronaldo, Greenwood, Pogba, Matic and Martial then there's a huge space in your squad that'll costs a fortune to replace all at once.
