New-Match-Engine-SM-Worlds-twitter.gif

The Soccer Manager 2015 match engine has been ported into our two test Game Worlds, ID 238724 and 239094, and the following are the main improvements:
  • Results obtained with modern formations.
  • Player Ratings have an exponential value in a match, so the better players will be even better for your team.
  • Added more formations such as 4-2-3-1 narrow and 4-4-2 narrow diamond. Also made some alterations to existing formations so that they perform better in the match engine.
  • Made player position penalties harsher. Examples include fullbacks not playing as well in a 3 man defense, wingers not playing as well one position infield from the wing etc.
  • Removed some player / team instructions / styles that were covered by other options that have been left in.
    • Attacking Style means there is an increased contribution from your midfielders against the opposition's midfielders and defense on the designated side of attack. Some examples of the effects of this are: An opportunity to exploit a 3 man defense as they score poorly for left and right sided defense, so playing with wingers will be successful; Trying to play down the middle with less midfielders in the centre than the opposition will worsen your midfield contribution to attack.
    • Selecting a Playmaker will skew the attacking style slightly based on the playmakers position.
    • Passing Style
      • “Short” improves defense slightly, worsens attack slightly.
      • “Direct” improves attack slightly, worsens defense slightly.
      • “Longball” bypasses the midfield vs midfield “battle” and produces a slightly random result - works well for underdogs, quite random in success for better teams against worse teams.
    • Tempo
      • “Slow” improves defense slightly and reduces fitness loss slightly
      • “Fast” improves attack slightly and increases fitness loss slightly
    • Pressing
      • “Own Area” improves defense slightly and reduces attack slightly
      • “All Over” improves attack slightly and reduces defense slightly.
    • Mentality
      • As before - self explanatory
    • Tackling Style
      • As before, increased aggression = better defense at expense of increased changes of cards.
  • Improved match stats such as possession, corners and shots and player match ratings that are produced.

All tactical changes are just pure logic and should have been part of the first engine they ever made lel. Increasing player position penalties might not appeal to everyone but i think it's a good change. Don't particularly fancy the new formations.

Based on our communities feedback we have made several changes to how this works to that smaller clubs and those coming up through the divisions can remain competitive. This is because over time managers for example have built up a small club and turned them into a powerhouse. However, this success isn’t reflected with their attendance or stadium capacity.

The maximum capacity of 24,000 is being lifted because we want attendances to be more dynamic and based on your success. This means your fan base will dictate any increases to your stadium which will be made by your Chairman at the start of a new season. It will not cost your club any money as the Chairman will pay for this.

So how will fan bases work? Well each club has a set fan base when a Game World is created. This fan base could increase over a period of time dependent on your success. However, the fan base will never increase to more than the highest fan base within your league. Likewise, just as a fan base will increase, it can also decrease if your club is underachieving.

We believe that this will be a welcome change because it is one that you, our community, have been asking for.

Don't get Litterbug started on this.
Thought never crossed my mind.. :D

Does that mean i could have my very own Old Trafford?

Hopefully it will balance out if you have superior tactics.
Looking forward to implement lop-sided 3-4-1-2 with attacking left wing-back, a tucked-in RCB, with 2 holding midfielders shielding the back three, a playmaker that dictates the play from deep ala Platini, a second striker roaming the space upfront and a target man capable of holding the ball and running in behind the defenders

Forgot to mention the sweeper :D. Sounds like antohan's tactic from the chain draft. Edit: or mine from the euro draft.

Seems so. Higher the fan base the bigger the stadium.
So who has sold out stadiums right now? Let's say Spurs win the league; will they get a stadium increase? If many of us get increased stadium sizes it could mean lower squad caps as well. Granted, that's the very long-term. More spread out talent distribution, yay LB.

About FFP; are we still discussing it? Maybe end of season is a better time.

FFP would alter depending on size of stadium. So yes, when stadiums increase managers will need to alter their squad size.

That's going to be an interesting one as I'm positive that from most of the teams who play 352, at least one fullback is included.

Sounds like it'll be the right time for me to try going back to a back four

Are they going to make formations realistic so that these 3-5-2 formations aren't God mode and one can move to normal formations?

That's a very good change but it's going to feck me up. Either calls for a change in formation or some serious CB shopping.

It's strange how the arguably most used formation in the world; 4-2-3-1, is so ineffective in the game. At least for me. If/when i have 48 points i will try some incredibly illogical tactic, arrows everywhere, in a home-game and see what happens.

Screaming mediocrity. Could be a long hard relegation battle next year at Old Trafford.

I've used 4-2-3-1 since I joined.
Took tranmere to div 2.
And with Fulham have had decent success with it. Lost the division 1 title twice on the last game of the season.
