Division 2 table update:

Just 1 point between 2nd and 6th.

Middlesbrough up next. Lost against them the last time we met in the league. I'll be doing my best to ensure they don't do the double. Will be a tough match.

2-2 with Boro. Not much use that, considering Forest won. Not looking like I'll be in play offs this season. Ah well, gave it a good go, especially considering where I was a few weeks ago.

You're just a couple of points off the play off spots. One loss for 5/6th and you're back in it. Things will go down to the last day.

Congrats Damo. On top since the start, would've been harsh if anyone else won.

I now need Blackpool or Forest to slip up, and I need to win my remaining matches. Big ask, with Leeds, Cardiff and Brighton Hove being my last 3 matches.

Finally won a game... Too bad it was a little too late.
Oh well next season I can only get better I guess because despite my team being decent I'm shite at this game.

Thanks. I thought it would be close to the end. I've been very fortunate in that the other teams have taken points off each other when I've won my games and when I have dropped points most of the time the other teams around me dropped points too.

It'll be tough but you're still in with a chance. The teams above you have better run ins but a few of them have dropped points in unexpected matches so anything could happen.

Play an inform Barnsley at home next. I'll take a 1-0 win right now!

Crazy to think that we're only 3 games away now and the points gap from 2nd to 6th is 1 point! I'm staggered Ipswich dropped points!

Congrats Damien, hope to join you up there! :p

My City team feel rejuvenated now after tonight's win, I'll have David Silva back for the last two games of the season too.

Come on, everybody, show some support for Manchester City and let's see if we can close this four point gap!

If you hammer 7 types of shite out of Norwich, you will have my 110% support!

Btw well in Damien on winning the league so comfortably. Gotta give credit considering all the teams are so close in quality. Although Leeds probably were one of, if not the best team to take over in division 2.

Yep, I had a bit of an advantage in having the pick of the clubs in Division 2. Leeds were a no-brainer based on the stadium capacity being the biggest in the division as well as having one of the best transfer budgets at the time (20.6M). The squad I started off with wasn't the biggest or best but I was able to bring in a decent team and the loan deals were very important - Cahill in particular. Without him it would have been tough as I didn't have much in terms of defence. Having a strong team only takes you so far as West Brom and City have shown in Division 1. The tactics I used largely played to my team's strengths and most of the time they paid off. The 3-1 win against you is the stand out game for me. We were both doing well with you being above me on goal difference before the game started.

The competition has been great this season and it is a shame that only three teams will be going up.

Blackburn lost its manager, anyone from the lower divisions wants a shot at division 1?

Hull in division 2 is also free.

I was tempted by the Blackburn job, but in the end, decided to stay loyal to the Wigan Project...

Plus, Dave Whelan was jabbering on to the press non stop about it...

I was hoping to at least escape off the bottom, but my only chance of points is Stoke on Thursday realistically...Arsenal and United my last 2 games...and they both have mentally strong teams...

Maybe we could give Blackburn to the team who loses the playoff final of D2, if the manager is interested o course.

I can't imagine him being too interested tbh. I know I wouldnt anyway, I'd rather have another stab at it after having come so close.

That might be the fairest way to do it, but like BD I think most of the sides in contention for the playoffs are happy with their squad.

Still... worth a shot. Leave them vacant until the end of the season then ask the runner up and if they say no open it up to the rest of the league or other teams who were in the playoffs.

Looking at Blackburn's squad, the first team is better than those in Division 2 but the majority of players are in their mid 30s and most of those who aren't don't exactly have great prospects in terms of development. Their squad is pretty small but they do have £4.1M cash. They do look like they'll just about qualify for the SMFA Shield though which will be a nice cash earner for their next manager.

I shall be entertaining worthwhile transfer offers for many of my squad players from this point forward. If any manager would like to put a serious bid in I'll give it due consideration.

Only one I had was from Millwall...accepted that one.
