Gaming The SM RedCafe League

But its me who has come close from outside the promotion spots. I carry the momentum. I am confident, unlike others.

If this game has taught me anything... it's that momentum counts for feck all and confidence certainly means nothing.

It's like a roll of the dice to who'll be promoted now.

Yep. I'd also say league positions mean feck all now considering almost every team in the league has managed to put together at least a 87-88 rated first team after the second transfer window. A game against a 12th place team is just as tough as a game against someone placed 17th.

Yeah, Damien was talking about me avoiding relegation in his half term report. :smirk:

3 of the 4 teams in the play off spots have come from mid-table, so you could say they all have momentum.

Omarlogic.

At one point Cider was talking about me stuggling to qualify for the champions league.

Now it's potentially the other way round.

 Omar... makes incorrect statement, is called on it... then just doesn't mention it in his next post about something else.

Yep. As you said the second transfer window was key. I don't think my comments at the time of my half time report were too outlandish (though bear in mind I had to make a comment on around 50 teams at short notice) but since then a lot has changed - most notably some teams changing managers and squads strengthening which makes things a lot tougher.

Look at my comments on Manchester City and West Brom for instance. At the time City were cruising and West Brom looked like competing for the SMFA Shield places. Now City are on the verge of going out of the top 4 while West Brom have a decent chance of lifting the title.

TITLE RACE

Manchester City seem unstoppable, currently top of Division 1 with an 8 point gap over second place Chelsea. City are through to the knockout stages of the Champions Cup as well as the fourth round of the League Shield and look good value to win both, however they have suffered a bit of a setback after being knocked out of the League Cup, losing 2-1 at home to Division 2 side Brighton and Hove Albion. Overall manager ciderman9000000 has done well with the side, including the transfer market and though he has made a few strange decisions in selling defender Vincent Kompany and goalkeeper Joe Hart it is clear he has a long term plan with his squad by buying plenty of talented youth.

In the league their away form stands out winning 8 and losing just twice.

Bolded point 1: Now they're fourth, four points behind first and two points ahead of fifth.
Bolded point 2: Lost in the Shield final but have a decent chance of winning the Champions Cup.
Bolded point 3: Their away record went from W: 8 D: 0 L: 2 to W: 10 D: 1 L: 7.

West Bromwich Albion - They have pulled off some impressive results (3-2 win over Manchester United, 1-0 win over Stoke City, 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers and a 3-3 draw against Manchester City). There is a lot of competition for the SMFA Shield places but I think they do stand a decent chance, especially after winning their last game against Everton. In the other competitions they haven't done that well, being knocked out to Division 2 and 3 sides in the Cup and Shield.

At the time my comments were fair given that for most of the first half of the season West Brom were either below the SMFA Shield places or just in them. Below is the screenshot of the table at the halfway point:

And what it looks like now:

I don't think enough can be said about how well robocop has done with his side.

Since the halfway point Manchester City have picked up 16 points out of 45 while West Brom have picked up 33 points out of 45.

What's your record since taking over Andy?

Played 7, won 4, drawn 1, lost 2...but the two I lost were Chelsea and West Brom...

Extrapolate that over a season, and I'm 57% win, 14% draw and 29% losses

so I reckon, based on this, I'd end up with 21 wins, 6 draws and 11 losses, giving me about 69 points...

I've taken 31 in 45 since halfway. Including a home win against City and an away win at Arsenal. 10 wins 1 draw and 4 losses. My end of season run in included Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Spurs and still Chelsea to come!

I don't really count though as my team has been cack and not up to the standards of the rest.

Sticky last 4 games for me. Although if Norwich lose 2 games and QPR lose 1, I'm safe no matter my results.

Citeh pull your socks up and bate them please. Cheers!

I don't know what's going on with wrong with team tbh, I seem to be powerless in regards to putting any kind of halt on our run of terrible form.

Could be a busy day today in terms of promotion/relegation:

  • Wigan Athletic could be relegated from Division 1
  • Leeds United could be promoted to Division 1 or be confirmed champions of Division 2.
  • Brighton and Hove Albion could be relegated from Division 2
  • West Ham United could be promoted to Division 2
  • Brentford could be relegated from Division 3
  • Bradford City could be promoted to Division 3
  • Port Vale could be relegated from Division 4
  • Aldershot Town could be promoted to Division 4

I still can't get over the fact that West Brom could be in 1st place tonight. I've got West Brom next as well. My end of season run in has included City, Liverpool, Chelsea and West Brom. Having to fight all my rivals in one go.

Ouch.

West Brom have done brilliantly. Looking at their squad now I thought they'd have problems tonight with Clichy and Garcia suspended but neither played in his last match and so shouldn't be a big loss.

It is crazy how things change. It was only around a month or so ago where Blackburn could have been a candidate for team of the season.

City could be knocked out of the top four tonight which is another thing you couldn't have imagined to be possible a month ago. Liverpool have been on a great run.

Lahm and Chiellini are suspended and I wont play Song or Van Persie so WBA has a chance against me playing in their ground.

True. Even without those four players you'll be able to field a better lineup than him but WBA have beaten better sides.

Blackburn look like they could be about to lose their manager. He's not logged in in 9 days.

Anything can happen for me tonight, could get a trashing even. Stoke have 2 suspensions though, Cavani and a defender I think. My best chance to get something from them.

Can't afford to lose. Although if I do, everyone else around me will probably lose as well, and if I win, everyone around me will also win. So basically, whatever happens doesn't matter.

Lost 3-2 against Stoke. Conceeding alot of goals since signing Glen Johnson, the turd. Alteast Norwich and QPR lost. that is real good for me.

Shit, drew the mtach. 100points can't be achieved.
Damn.

Edit - Congrats Damien.

Thanks :)

Another matchday where just three teams in the top 10 in Division 2 won their matches.

Leeds United - won against Hull City (2-1)
Ipswich Town - lost against Crystal Palace (1-0)
Millwall - drew against Bristol City (3-3)
Blackpool - drew against Doncaster Rovers (2-2)
Coventry City - won against Birmingham City (1-0)
Nottingham Forest - won against Peterborough United (2-0)
Derby County - drew against Middlesbrough (2-2)
Middlesbrough - drew against Derby County (2-2)
Cardiff City - lost against Brighton and Hove Albion (1-0)
Hull City - lost against Leeds United (2-1)

Back to my usual form  Saying that I had to play M'Vila as a CB and play Moura as he was moaning about game time.

Just waiting on next season now.

If I win next week and Zarlak beat WBA I can still dream with a CL spot :)

2-2 with Boro. Not much use that, considering Forest won. Not looking like I'll be in play offs this season. Ah well, gave it a good go, especially considering where I was a few weeks ago.
