In my experience the AI don't buy anyone, unless it's trying to buy back their own players.

Which could lead to a few clubs hitting 21 players and getting stuck.
 
I saw some of you have sold players to AI, have you not? Saw N'Zogbia had gone somewhere.
 
I predict people having to start selling players soon due to financial problems.
