Gaming The SM RedCafe League

Nah, you're alright. I can make it out easily anyway.

5-1 loss to United. But the stats were even.

How. Bloody tactics.

The stats don't matter that much. The below screenshot is from my game against Hull. I'm on the right and won 3-1 despite them having a lot more chances.

Despite the stats contradicting the score I knew my tactics would have most likely seen me win the game and it may have been the same in yours, though on first glance the team you put out was a lot stronger and your tactics don't seem that bad to warrant the scoreline you got.

Nah, you're alright. I can make it out easily anyway.

Edited it anyway.

I wonder how many of you guys use the cheat tactics.

Cheat tactics don't work. I just kept on losing using them. Now that i'm using my own tactics, i have found out how good a manager i am.

We have a friendly tonight don't we? I've not tinkered for ages. Will be a good opportunity to do so.

What's all this talk about cheat tactics?

Why do you even wanna know? Just because they work for Cider doesn't mean they'll work for the rest of you.

Well my form's good enough anyway, just curious as to what they are.

Apparently there's a forum for this game (similar to Football Manager I suppose) whereby users discuss players and post their magic tactics.

I've seen the forums and don't understand how it can benefit people. The player forum is full of random people saying "I think X is a good player" or "I think Y should be 90". Useless.

The tactics forum is full of "I have a big game today, help!" or "please tell me best tactics for my team". There's a bunch of stickies that basically state the obvious; "attacking formation - put mentality to attacking" or "counter 2 midfielders by choosing a formation with 5" etc. The general consensus seems to be tactics depend entirely on your team and change from person to person. Again, useless.

I'm rather looking forward to Sundays games I have to say. Very interested to see what my lads can do up against Damo's Leeds.

Ultimately, I'm not expecting to come out with a win though, my away form is extremely patchy and he obviously has a strong side. I see this as more of a test for my Middlesbrough side more then anything, as his Leeds are the clear favourites in this one... and I imagine he'll be expecting his side to win it.

I'm hoping I can start making up some ground in the next 3/4 games. I'm 12 points behind at the moment, If I can cut that down to 6 i'll be looking in better shape.

You're doing exactly what I did against Millwall

No mind games. Millwall are the in form side playing at home (unbeaten), whereas our away record is pretty poor.

It will be a good game though. I've got my own thoughts on what will happen but won't say. For the last four league away games your form has been 'lose one win one', hopefully that continues.

I hadn't realised you had said something similar against Millwall... regardless, no mind games here Damien, just stating the facts.

My away record is patchy and I'm missing my most productive player, whilst your top of the league and flying high. You hadn't lost a league game at home until you started dicking about against Doncaster... I imagine you'll be playing this one much straighter then that, and in-turn be looking for a reaction to that defeat. Like I said, I don't expect to be coming away from this with a win.

I'd say, this game will go a long way to guarenteeing automatic promotion for yourself, a win would put a substansial gap between yourself and third place (either 7 or 8 points) and really, cement your lot as a top 2 side this season. As I said, it's a big game for your lot... dare I say a must-win game...

Thanks for saying that.

Conversely it is a must-win game for you if you have any desire to go for automatic promotion.

Immediate aim for me is a victory in our game, then after that to be at the top of the league at the halfway point, and finally to be in the top 2 at the end of the season (preferably top). Will be very difficult though.

Atsu went up 5. Knew he'd been doing well on loan, didn't think he would get that much of an increase though.

With worse goal difference. Goal difference could be very important.

Don't think it will be... plus, if you look at our current goals scored/conceded stats, we're pretty even, so I don't think it'll swing greatly one way or the other before the end of the season.

And of course you could slip into fourth as Ipswich overtakes you, and just be 1 point ahead of 5th.

You could end up going on a Hullesque/Forestesque slump, and by the time you recover from that it could be too late.

One good thing about the 'Boro this year is the ability to bounce back from defeat. A loss at Leeds will be followed by a home win, of that I guarentee.

In the Premier League with 16 games gone, Liverpool were on 29 points like you are now. They had scored 20 goals and conceded 13, not too far off your own stats. In the 21 games after that, they had a horrendous record, winning 6, drawing 5 and losing 10, picking up just 23 points. That could easily happen to you if you lose on Sunday. Your players would become restless, and Ricky van Wolfsvinkel would then announce his desire to join the revolution at Leeds. Think about that.

Think you're overplaying it a bit, Damo... I'm not in good form and no game as of yet is a must win for anyone.

On Liverpool's 17th game of the season they played away and drew 0-0. If that result (or worse) occurs it could be a very bad omen for you. Of course that was the game the Liverpool players wore the Suarez T-shirts and he was banned, but forget about that.

Shh, I'm getting somewhere. Of course no game is a must win but the result of Sunday's match could be important going into the remainder of the season.

That's the point, the game on Sunday isn't of great importance to my players, it's the following match that carrys real significance. Thursday, home against Blackpool is must-win... on Sunday though, my players can go out and play with no-fear, because they know that a loss isn't significant.

The same can't be said for your lot though. A 2nd home loss in a row will surely affect the mood around Elland Road... and it will also mean your players will be looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack with greater intrest, possibly making them nervous/lose focus in their upcoming games...

As an aside, the big Wolfmeister probably won't be starting on Sunday. Rotation is the key to everything at the 'Boro.

I hate losing on this game.

I'm totally apathetic about losing on this game. My attitude is :

Lose a game: Ah well, it's a stupid game anyway... all these results are totally random so it's all meaningless.

Win a game: GET THE feck IN! I am the greatest manager in the world... I should be doing this in real-life...

I won't be falling for your trickery and mind games! As you said I dicked about against Doncaster so if we do lose to you, the mood in our camp will not be affected. There will be a bit more pressure as the gap is reduced, but my players can handle it.

The issue I have in my squad is that I don't seem to score enough. I currently have scored 19 goals. Derby, Leicester, Portsmouth and Peterborough have only scored less! That's my big weakness and one i'll address when transfers kick in.

 very true.

Damien seems very reliant on Gaitan, he has 14 assists! 14!! Crystal Palace have scored the same amount of goals and their highest assist is 5 Adriano.
