Gaming The SM RedCafe League

Joined English Championship 16035 as Manchester United. Mid-table here we come!

:EDIT: gonna make 5 signings, mainly in midfield. That will do me with man utd for now. Not gonna jump in arse first like I did with Newcastle. Although having 37mil is fecking tempting :D

It was a bit silly, I found, starting as United in a new league. Ten turns in, I've turned over half the squad and the lowest-rated player in my Top XI is Mark Van Bommel with 92.

Barnsley is available in Division 2, if anyone is interested.

When a couple transfers went through in my new United team in European Championship 3148, it mentioned a new club record:

It does not appear to be the record I quite expected:

Really packed them in, somehow...

Just got offered 1.6M cash from Accrington for Danny N'Guessan - 81 and decreased last update. Can't argue with that.

Some good games in there. Darlington against Stoke, Forest against Arsenal and a few same division ties in Leicester v Ipswich, Birmingham v Derby, Tranmere v Southend and Wolves v Spurs.

I'm kind of struggling to get the best from my players like Kagawa and all. No one is really standing out for me, all are doing only decent. I'll try new tactics to get the best out of him, like Leeds are getting out of Gaitan.

Also i wonder Damien, why you don't sell out all your seats. 5k or 10k seats will be empty for you, when everything should be sold out.

It's due to being in Division 2. My stats were worse at the start of the season but have had a jump recently.

Stadium Capacity: 40,242

Cardiff City (3-0 win) - 27,357 (68%)
Bristol City (1-1 draw) - 26,169 (65%)
Birmingham City (1-0 win) - 26,268 (65.3%)
Kidderminster Harriers (6-1 win - cup) - 26,603 (66.1%)
Peterborough United (3-1 win) - 27,091 (67.3%)
Portsmouth (3-1 win) - 34,549 (85.9%) ---- 15th April
Ipswich Town (1-0 win) - 34,595 (86%)
Leicester City (3-1 win) - 33,115 (82.3%)
Doncaster Rovers (4-1 loss) - 35,098 (87.2%)

Next biggest stadium in Division 2 - Middlesbrough

Stadium Capacity: 35,100

Burnley (1-0 win) - 16,699 (47.6%)
Crystal Palace (2-2 draw) - 17,493 (49.8%)
Barnsley (2-1 win) - 16,494 (47%)
Barnet (3-1 win - cup) - 17,441 (49.7%)
Nottingham Forest (3-1 win) - 17,267 (49.2%)
Coventry City (2-0 win) - 21,735 (61.9%) ---- 15th April
Millwall (3-1 loss) - 19,843 (56.5%)
Hull City (2-2 draw) - 20,957 (59.7%)

As you can see we both had periods where the attendance was fairly low then suddenly from the 15th April onwards it jumped a bit.

Saying that, West Ham is a division lower and their average attendance is pretty much sold out and they've got a very similar record to me. I'll have a look at their attendances now.

West Ham United

Stadium Capacity: 35,647

Scunthorpe United (3-0 win) - 32,756 (91.9%)
Bury (1-0 loss) - 33,209 (93.2%)
Leyton Orient (7-1 win - shield) - 35,600 (99.9%)
Notts County (3-0 win) - 33,155 (93%)
Huddersfield Town (1-0 win) - 35,626 (99.9%)
Northampton Town (6-1 win - shield) - 35,640 (99.9%)
Preston North End (1-1 draw) - 35,621 (99.9%)
Carlisle United (5-0 win) - 35,623 (99.9%)

That is ridiculous!

Just skimmed through a few of mine and they don't seem to be too bad. Always within 2-3k of capacity it seems.

Has anyone got a 82+ rated CM they're willing to loan out to MK Dons, I've only just clocked on that Smudger is out for over 8 weeks and could do with a replacement for him

Thanks. So price per ticket is pretty much exactly the same as RedSky - £17.60 (and Mr Anderson's for Division 1 is £20.80).

If I can fill 3/4s of my stadium in the next league match then I should be able to pay the wages through the Receipts alone though I'm not sure. There's still Ground Maintenance reductions to take into account.

On the 19th of March I was talking about stadium attendances and money earned. At the time I said the figure was roughly £17.60 per ticket and looking back at my home games that statistic still holds.

Calculating potential lost earnings, say I should have had around 34k in each game for the first five home games, that is 36,512 people missing which means I could have had around £642,611 extra if they attended :( Well that's depressing.

Though of course the ground maintenance would have been more expensive too so it wouldn't be that much.

What can I say, the East London crowd knows a good football team when they see one.

Cup game against Bolton tonight. I'm gunna continue to give the B team an opportunity to prove themselves.

That plus I know I'm not gunna win the cup so I'd rather keep my first 11 fit for league games.

Blackpool... I've accepted your friendly for tomorrow night. Will be a good opportunity to try something new.

Is there any team who realistically has an aim to try to win these cup or sheild games?
It's honestly better for lower league teams to focus on only one thing.

No team can afford to play their best 11 in the league & the cup so it favours the division one teams as they have the better squads, naturally. Very rare that second tier teams ever win the cups anyway so it'll almost certainly be a division 1 team.

What's going on with our friendly? You requested, I accepted, you withdrew your request.... it's still in my calender.

I'm starting to wish I put out a stronger team in them - especially the Shield, but my squad didn't really have enough players to battle on multiple fronts at the time. If I was still in the Shield I would now be able to put out this side without touching my first teamers. Not bad but not great compared to the sides the top division sides would be able to put out.

Pinto (87)

Jantschke (87)* -- Torsiglieri (86) -- Knoche (75) -- Planas (84)**
Sala (80) -- Derry (84) -- Khedira (75) -- Delph (84)
Petersen (85) -- Tallo (75)

* I think Piszczek was injured when I was in the Shield so I wouldn't have been able to play Jantschke against Norwich.
** If I was still in the Shield he wouldn't have gone on loan

I would have had a few first teamers on the bench to come on if things weren't going well too. I backfired by not doing that in the cup or shield. Gaitan, Kacar and Welliton on at 75 minutes and bobs your uncle.

Gaitan (89) -- Derry (84) -- Kacar (88) -- Delph (84)
Petersen (85) -- Welliton (89)

Instead the side I put out against Norwich was this:

Pinto (87)

Choco (71) -- Torsiglieri (85) -- Gregoric (70) -- Planas (84)
Derry (84) -- Delph (84)
Sala (80) -- Pavlov (70) -- Annier (65)
Petersen (85)

We lost 1-0 and went out on a shit note.

I'm trying to do my best to stay in them, just for the money. West Brom will probably be too big a challenge for me to beat though so I've went with a mix on second string players and first teamers.

The league is my priority though, obviously.

I thought my chairman would appreciate me battling away in the Cups, seems he doesn't give a shit... the fecker! I lost 3-2 to Arsenal in a friendly a week back, so i'm not looking forward to tonight, looking at the players he has available to him I might be inline to get a good ole demolishing :nervous:

Oh well. :(

phil touched on this: cup runs are money, and if you've bought a good squad on lower division money, you probably need all the extra dosh you can scrape up.

Cup/Shield games are good for money though, so I play my second team in it. I can afford to play something like this without touching my first teamers(apart from GK)

89
85-85-83-85
86-84
83-84-85
83

And that team has served me well so far, having beaten Stoke in the Cup, and demolishing teams in the other games 6-0 and 5-0. However, I think Birmingham tonight will be one step too far for the team, but I won't be devastated if I go out as a promotion-playoff spot finish is more important.

Even West Ham accepted along with you, and i guess they accepted first so my friendly is with them in my calender.

Anyways, i challenged you for a friendly on 12th now, accept that.

My B team is out again tonight. I like the money from these cups but my squad isn't really big enough to stay in all competitions without league form suffering I don't think. Thus I'll be doing my best Damien impression tonight, I'll be happy win or lose.

I'm not going to lie, I put out a strong XI. Some key players will rest but it's still a pretty decent line-up.

If I lose I'll be pissed.

Sheffield Wednesday manager hasn't signed in for two days, so I'm assuming they haven't changed their team meaning it'll be their full strength XI. Looking at physical attributes they seem relatively OK bar a few so hopefully that'll work to my advantage.
