Here's my formal application for the Sunderland job. Do I need to PM it to maniak?
Name: JB7
Clubs managed (No. of seasons at club, inc. current season)
Sheffield Wednesday - The Red Cafe League (No full seasons completed)
Honours won
None
Current season
Sheffield Wednesday (The Red Cafe League) season 1
Division: 4
Games played: 6
Points: 16
Current league position: 2nd
It should be remembered that I took over the day after the first league game was played, and actually have a 100% record.
Playing style
I recognise the importance of entertaining the supporters, and usually operate using a fast paced, attacking 4-2-3-1 formation but the system is very flexible depending upon which players I have at my disposal. My team has a very particular way of playing; to control the match and involve our best players in the game as much as possible. In order to play such an attacking style, you must have confidence in a strong defence and goalkeeper, as we have shown by keeping 3 clean sheets in the 5 league games I have managed.
Transfer policy
I believe in young players and in my short time at the club the average age of the squad has dropped from 27 to 22. The only player over the age of 26 I have signed was my goalkeeper, Miguel Ángel Moya, who at 28 is still relatively young for a goalkeeper. The average value of players in my squad is now standing at £4.0m, whereas it was comfortably below £2.0m before I joined the club. In addition I have populated the youth squad with five hot prospects, including the much coveted Dale Jennings from German giants, Bayern Munich. I always operate with the clubs best financial interests in mind, and despite making 22 signings Sheffield Wednesday will still turn in a gentle profit for the season. As it stands the stadium has 20,000 empty seats every week and as those seats get filled the clubs profits will rise and rise.
Additional information
I've been privileged to manage such a huge club as Sheffield Wednesday and feel Sunderland would be the ideal club to move forward with. They are a great club with a fantastic loyal fanbase and I believe I could bring the smiles back to Weirside, plus I definitely believe I could improve upon the current kit sponsorship deal which I realise is a massive part of the job in this day and age.
A small breakdown of my history at Hillsborough shows some positive results:
Sheffield Wednesday 4-2 Oxford United
Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 Walsall
Yeovil Town 1-3 Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 Macclesfield Town
Wycombe Wanders 0-6 Sheffield Wednesday
As you can see, the results have improved as the better players have been brought in and once the players have steadily adapted to the different tactics and style of play I have employed.
