The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

You guys bitch when it's random. You guys bitch when it's not random. I told you at the beginning there was going to be surprises.

Since you guys can't quit being whiny cnuts, the teams above are final. No injuries.

I'll do the draw when i get back from coaching.

Draw will be done at random...so change your tampons now in case you don't like it.
Jesus, some people are in for some extra sprints this evening.

I'm just kidding by the way. I just wanted some faux outage of my own.

I agree that there's no way for me to determine which teams lose which players, because I can't do it fairly. And randomly could be unfair too.

So I reached a conclusion... To be unveiled when I get back :)

Alright.

10am Sunday morning will be the deadline.

You will all be paired up with another manager. That manager will PM myself and Balu to let them know which player from the other team will be injured.

You may notice the majority of pairings are from managers that tried to steal players from each other, or one another. Some were successful, some failed. The remaining managers were paired up with what we thought would be most interesting.

These will not be the manager you face in the first round.

Edit: No injuring goalkeepers :)

Just glad I'm not facing Cutch in the first round now!

FFS Cutch's team is too damn good. I don't even know who to injure. Have half a mind to do Zanetti or Santos out of spite..

@Skizzo can I injure his GK? I don't think we have any in the legacy pool.

Additionally, again, what happanes if suddenly everybody injures defenders. It could lead to a complete sheepfest unless players are added to the pool.

Not complaining anymore, just asking legitimate questions.

I was just giving you a hard time earlier.

I'll update the post above..but no, can't injure goalkeepers. If it ends up with everyone injuring the same position...then we'll add more to the pool.

Skizzo I have to admit I prefer the random.
I will definitely not bitch about it because I love the surprises and shit, but if I understood correctly, each manager can pick one player from the other team to injure and that team's manager can basically do nothing about it. You can't block it like we did in the manager event, so that guarantees that everybody will lose their best player doesn't it? Unless someone is very merciful for some unknown reason.
The random has the luck factor that surrounds this whole sheep draft theme, yet this is just "lets destroy everybody's teams".

Anyway, I'm not mad or anything, I think you've done(and doing) a great job and lets not change it now because I don't want to ruin your fun of it, just saying I don't think you should've caved earlier and change what you had planned.

@antohan would love this round, what a mind-feck  . I guess a brilliant strategy can actually make a huge difference here.

Yeah I agree with this. Seems like it is there just to manufacture drama, like some reality TV show.

I definitely prefer this over the random system that was revoked. That system was unfair on people who had fewer sheep.

The teams not playing each other is an interesting move.

It's also a one-off, one game injury. The player is back and you may yet face that team at full strength.

There's also no guarantee any struck deals aren't just bullshit.

I suppose the basic strategy then is comparing your team and the other. If the other team looks like an early favourite (above-average) and one that would beat you head to head you would try to reduce their chances as much as possible. With some luck you can get an early frontrunner weakened enough that he goes out to a "lesser team".

It then also follows you would try not to heavily injure a team you consider OK but not your biggest worry. You would hope they can take out one of the big'uns for you.

As before, the round has a rebalancing dynamic. Good stuff :)

FFS, if I lose someone in certain positions I'm completely fecked, yet on the other hand, my actual best players are midfield playmakers, which I have a few of.

Hmm.

And here I thought, my tiny hint had already given too much away  .

Wait, did I miss anything? Does this mean I can't draw EAP in round 1?

Draw hasn't been made...but none of those will be first round matches. Don't want anyone trying to give themselves an advantage by picking a player that would give them an edge tactically.

It's brilliant because you can influence the chances of teams you can't face in the first round. Just like anto explained above.

Agreed. Drama for the sake of it; it's basically a "everyone loses their best player" round because "twist!". Not that I think doing it randomly would be any better. The idea of these things for me is to minimize the luck as much as possible and make sure the best team wins, but maybe I'm on my own with that view. Wouldn't feel right to me if NM lost Platini and went out just because of this. There's probably more participants than spectators in this thread so I don't think creating spectacle should be the priority.
