The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

Well, that's an arse if one of the RB guys was hoping to get Britney Spears

Actually, I would be quite miffed if my top targets were ruled out by this. Tonnes of fullbacks crossed out there, the better ones as well...

Well after all the complaining people did about possibly having the blocked players available again at some point, and it unbalancing the teams...I figured it wouldn't be fair if I opened up the pool to include all these other GOAT players. So I kept it limited :D

Of course, then came the age of Messi/Ronaldo and basketball stats in La Liga, which skews perspectives.

Indeed. But also the general idea (which is not unfounded, be it said) that he declined rather dramatically while still being very much in the public eye and while still being young enough to have done better, as it were. That's the Ronaldinho part, if you will - but Ronaldinho was simply better, and a different sort of better, so it's not held against him to the same extent.

Round 9 Criteria

Pick a player, who played outside one of the Big 5 Leagues (England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain) from 1990/91 season onwards.

For a player to be considered eligible, he must have been registered on the team, and made at least one appearance, starting or sub, for them in the domestic league.

PLAYER BLOCK LIST:

Beckenbauer, Di Stefano, Cruyff, Rijkaard, Sammer, Haan, Zebec, Vialli, Deschamps, Falcao, Maradona, Matthaus, Thuram, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, C. Ronaldo, Moore, Maldini, Koeman, Eusebio, Seeler, Zidane, Gullit, Best, Figueroa, Duncan Edwards, Stoichkov, Romario, Jorginho, Rivelino, Kocsis, Didi, Messi, Fachetti, Neeskens, Pele, Dani Alves, Lahm, Jaap Stam, Makelele, G. Neville

Just to be totally clear, is this outside of big 5 leagues or outside of big 5 countries leagues? eg: a player that played in the english championship in 91/92 season is not eligible isn't that right

Question;

Do second tier leagues count? As in, Serie B, Championship, etc.

Outside the big 5 leagues. Premiership, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, and Ligue 1.

Alright you moany bastards....give me a minute

Is it that he had to have played at least one season past 90/91?

If so that's not too bad/hard. I thought it was that he couldn't have played any football pre 90/91 which would obviously rule out loads of old players.

On the other interpretation most players from the 80's will still be there.

Correct. As long as they made some appearances past 90/91..then they're eligible.

Should be countries, else you get all the youth loans counting which probably defeats the purpose of it.

If the player played in one of the Big 5 leagues, as well as outside of them, then he is eligible.

Lower leagues in those countries count for eligibility.

Do you guys rate Zambrotta equally as good as a RB as he is as a LB? Or does he considered to be better as a LB?

You are probably better off having him out left:
  1. Sturdier side with Nedved/Keane.
  2. Side most in need of his influence as Nedved drifts infield, while Figo is more adept/comfortable hugging the line.

Totally ruined. I was looking for a player with specific characteristic. Finding one is difficult, one that fits this criteria is near impossible, it seems.

You just need a fecking leftback, there's tonnes of them that have played football over the last 20+ years.

Moaning for the sake of moaning really.
