The Second RedCafe Sheep Draft

I honestly didn't realise Pele wasn't blocked

Any non managers out there I can PM? Just want to confirm a couple of things regarding certain combos.

When does Van Hanegem and Crujff overlap? Van Hanegem ended his career in the end of 1982/83 and went to be their assistant manager, when Crujff arrived in 1983/84.

Here, Cruyff is still Ajax's player in 1982/83.

Did I miss something? If so, brilliant pick, @MJJ, was hoping to get him at some point, but with all those criterias it's quite hard.

@Skizzo @Balu

No, you're correct. Double checked a few other places just now, but no, they never overlapped.

A sheep wouldn't be fair since it was a first round error...but having the whole field open back up now he knows everyone else's pick is also unfair.

@MJJ You can make a pick to replace Van Hanegem but only from that Feyernoord side of the same year.

http://www.voetbal.com/teams/feyenoord/1984/2/

Those are your players. If any are already selected, or blocked, then obviously you can't pick them.

Balu already said this once...when you select your picks...make sure they aren't blocked, aren't already picked, and are eligible for the criteria of the round. We can't sift through every pick sent in to confirm and do your work for you, especially when most of you aren't sending any links of your own to back up your research.

Tch..I think you are right. Went back and couldnt find the link.

So you literally have nothing to do with this, bar Kahn/Blanc (or "the Baixinho was so short we didn't notice him").

Stobzilla - 1. Stankovic, 2. Ince, 3. Tioté, 4. M. Laudrup, 5. Kahn, 6. Blanc, 7. John Charles, 8. Hatzipanagis 9. Cerezo 10. Cereca

He brought Cerezo and Careca into the conversation and generally kept my priorities straight.

I thought so too, earlier, but when I've done my extensive research, I decided that he is much more likely to go for Van Basten's partners, considering that he has him in the team and is (maybe wrongly) known as the most logical (=predictable, in this round, but it's not a negative) manager in this draft. And I decided that Brehme would be the first choice for most as a left back, and Sven picked him alright. As I said earlier (before receiving a bloody sheep), nothing to do with luck :p

Feck you, though, I woke up to see that you tagged me in the thread, I thought that I was getting a sheep - and Balu's colour editing didn't help

Edit: Colours in the original post are fine, it's your quoting skills (or are you winding me up even after the round ended?)

Can't say I planned it, unfortunately, it's the colours in this board have a life of their own. Honest, mods mentioned it earlier.

@mazhar13

Reading it now, that didn't come out right, I wasn't questioning your input, just found it funny you mentioned being into post-99 players and most of them were far from being that.

There's a bit of a problem with the formatting in general, when you delete lines or paragraphs, sometimes it changes to bold or underlined for no apparent reason as well. If you create the format from scratch, it works well. If you make changes in an already formatted text, most likely you'll feck it up by accident.

Here's the full list with all the coloring right (Shankly is pink again and Carlos Alberto + Schwarzenbeck are black again). You can switch to the code mode and look where it gone bad, it's relatively easy.

I usually do when I realise that something went wrong, which I didn't in the post above.

As long as you have the list in a quote, it's impossible to get it out of your post without fecking up the format again by the way ;).

Really hope I get this player, so underrated in my opinion.

I called it several pages ago, it was clear as daylight NM had got Carlos Alberto,
you can't say I didn't warn you! I suspected that he can be blocked,

Man, you guys are good. I really had no clue. NM had a pass/fail and no players listed. He could have been stuck anywhere. I really did not thing anyone else would pass on Pele! Drat!

I thought with Plaatini and Puskas already there he would have gone for CA. As it turns out he didn't even notice Pele played with Beckenbauer. Shame, would have been a double block and two GOATs for you :rubsitin:

That would be near impossible to identify CA and not Pele. definitelu would nt be missed by NM & Theon. Thought they had Muller, so they passed on Pele. Bad decision making on my part.

Two sheep's around Nesskens for me. Once when I should have gone for him, but didn't. Other when I shouldn't have, but did.

Oh I did miss it. It sucked!

If you just look at the years at for example wikipedia, then you'll see that Pele left Cosmos in 77 and Beckenbauer joined them in 77. You could easily assume they never played together as it's usually the case with players in European leagues who join/leave in the summer of the same year. It's just that the seasons in the US back then were placed in a calender year and both player together for a few months (and won the league). There's no such problem with Carlos Alberto, who played 3 full seasons at Cosmos with Beckenbauer.

Fair enough.

In my head I've created a scenario where someone could block me for the sake of it, because it would be funny in fairness.

I'm on to you. :nervous:

I think its fair. We get our pick and we get a chaance to block Boris!

It is! Unfortunately I have already sent my player in so I can't participate in that for the first round, but I'll join in round two while you guys go at it.
