The second Ashes Test

 Strauss throws his wicket again..

Bell, Collingwood and Peiterson, all credit to them, they're proving to be thebest we've got by a mile.

Bell & Collingwood, the Nasser Hussain and Graham Thorpe of today, what we need.

Was a bit tense near the end there though, i was listening when he got out approaching his 100 in Pakistan and ditto last week. 2 runs away now, hopefullye he makes it this time and pushes on further. A good day for us.

Strauss and Cook throwing their chance again by all accounts.

No Monty though, what do you make of that?

I only saw the last half hour, had to make do with ABC radio between jobs. A great start on a very slow wicket, KP and Collingwood should both be set fo big tons tomorrow. England are going to win this on Monday and I'll be there cheering them on. :wenger:
Adelaide is buzzing at the moment, loads of poms in the streets, bars and caffs. I can't wait for Monday as we knock the aussies off in their second innings as they fail in their chase for 600 runs. Harmy with a fcuking bagfull of wickets.

Come on England!

The toss was crucial.
According to Mark Taylor, Adelaide is LBW galore on the final 2 days…..

If we can get 450 we stand a chance to win this one, though Anderson and Harmy have to improve 100 % if we want to get the Ozzies out twice.

Good first day, Pieterson & Collie need to build on this tomorrow. Fecking Pieterson's shot at the second last ball, wtf was that all about! Strauss was a bit of a nothing shot, Cook doing a Gower and Bell never in position to hook but all in all better than I feared!

Strange there's no Monty again. Like DE says, we need to get them out twice yet leave out one of our best attacking options.

Still, advantage just with England after day 1.

Most likely. However, if England get out cheaply tomorrow morning (that's never happened has it?) and knowing how fast the Aussies can score, there could still be a result, albeit in the Aussies' favour. Can't see England winning though.

Assuming England bat out at least most of tomorrow, i don't think we can make a judgement on whether a win is in them or not until we've seen them bowl. Harmison and Anderson can hardly be any worse this time around now can they?

A decent defenable total, some improved bowling, a bit of luck, i wouldn't be writing us off just yet.

if england can bat out tomorrow it'll at least rule out a loss pretty much. like everyone else has already mentioned, it's time for the bowlers to come good.

Tell you what the time difference is killing me, I'm a student so thankfully have the opportunity to watch the match live, but waking up at 2.30pm in the afternoon and still being shattered is not a good way to live life! At least so far this test I'm not suffering from mild depression...

poor students.

how do they manage

The biggest test of the Ashes so far. Can I keep my eyes awake while Australia play the most negative cricket I've ever had the 'pleasure' of witnessing? Not sure why some of these bowls from Warne which are only just landing on the far legside of the pitch aren't being called wides, theres nothing Pieterson can do with them. Aussies, for these tactics, hang your heads in shame.

Australia negative? Englands smail pace batting on the first day will probably make this a draw no matter what.

Yes Australia negative! The way they've been bowling with Warne today is the equivilent of England batting yesterday and making fifty runs all day. Ultra negative! Also for me an element of taking your bat and ball home - 'your partnerships too good for us, its not fair, so we're going to bowl in a manner that won't get you out, but prevents you from scoring any runs whatsoever'. They'll kill the game doing that.

This one's heading for a draw, isn't it?
I don't see the Aussies falling like the English did in the 1st test.

That's test cricket mate, you'll not get anything given for free, they are playing within the rules.

Negative tactics is a deliberate ploy designed to do one of two things - keep England batting for as long as possible and make the batsman lose their composure into giving their wickets away with rash shots.

Warne and Mcgrath both came out of today with some of the worst figures of their careers - Kudos to both Colly and Pietersen.

The way the pitch is playing it would be a remarkable feat if England manage to bowl Australia out twice, the odds are against it...A lot depends if Harmy has his head in gear. How much will England regret leaving Monty out?

Whatever the result (barring an impossible loss) the last two days will have done is given the boys a lot of confidence going into the rest of tour. A draw will seem like a victory after the last debacle.

The Aussies do not look invincible anymore and have taken a big fall from their high cocky perch of the first test.
