The Road Trip Draft R1: Jim Beam vs Gio

Who will win this match based on all the players at their peaks?

Damn got shoveled with work these days and missed the game. Turns out that it was a cracker I think.

Two of my favorite sides (after Sjor's) and Gio/Theon probably got unlucky to face the Cruyff/Stoichkov flank, otherwise they had some fantastic spine and would've beaten most of the sides in the first round.

Just skimmed through and contrary to most of the posts I think Matthaus would be really fine here and his game won't suffer due to Zidane's presence, especially when you have someone like Rijkaard at the base.

As for Jim Beam - fantastic attack and indeed Litmanen dovetails nicely with Cruyff.

The draws are lottery also. I got lucky in terms that his only relative weak spot was where my strongest one was. As you said Achilles' heel... When you go into these all-time draft games, it is pretty hard to separate so such thing can prevail making the score unfair in the end.

Brilliant team from @Gio as usual.

aye, probably one of the most important part in it. As others mentioned you can fix a weakness right after the first round if you have prioritized other areas of the squad and picked the best option available.

I generally write "Not surprised by the outcome" but here I have to say I'm surprised.
Aye, especially by this margin too. Gio had a brilliant team and put a lot of thought into the tactical setup. I don't see his side getting beat.

But on the other hand it's good to see a Cruyff team go through, hope JB stays true to the theme.

13:6, wow! I understood from the comments that @Jim Beam was leading, but would've never thought just by how much.
I had both @Gio and @Arbitrium as potential draft winners

Although when you think of it, the drafts are more than often won by teams that are originally unbalanced (but can be significantly improved by 1-2 picks in the reinforcements), so if Gio and Arbitrium would've made it through the first round, they would've definitely been draft favourites (with Djalma/Cafu and van Basten/Zidane/Baggio respectively).
Before the score was slipped out towards the end of the match (after which point it always closes up a little), the actual score was 11-2, having been 6-0 the night before. Respecting what we were up against, I can't really fathom how that team and that midfield was getting unanimously obliterated by the voters. I was expecting a close match either way, but in reality we would have been as well having Barry, Barton and Shelvey in midfield and it wouldn't have made one iota of difference in the voting.

Good game @Jim Beam and thanks for the nice comments chaps. Superbly crafted team around Cruyff. Probably the purest I've seen and worthy of inclusion in the threads about all-time teams built around player x.

I'm not saying it's deserved or undeserved, just that the results tend to be predictable :)

I think Suarez and gamarra didn’t help gio here. One for obvious reasons, and the other looks a bit lost in the company. You can try and talk up gamarra all you like but his club resume isn’t the best.
