Film The Redcafe Movie review thread

The Rubberman
Universal Ridicule Films, 2007

It was a land that time had forgotten. A digital netherworld, populated by a bunch of slacker spackers cut off from reality, living out their empty lives through their sporting heroes. In this desolate cyber-wasteland, there was one man so determined, so stubborn, so constantly wrong that the world would never be the same again. You'll laugh as he claims Richardson's as talented as Giggs. You'll cry as he claims Zidane isn't better than Bramble. You'll gape in wonder as he explains his version of Evolutionary Theory. You'll repeatedly call him a spastic. But you cannot, you will not miss The Rubberman.

I'd rather watch Event Horizon all day than watch Casino Royale. I will avoid that one for ever.

Casino Royale was excellent, at least the first half was. Better than any of the Bond movies with Brosnan.

That's quality trailer, Plech.

How about Japanese movies, Manga ?

Anyone here watched Akira, Ghost in the shell, Zatoichi, Hero or maybe Appleseed ?

If you did, I can fully recomend to you a film called "Casshern". From visual point of view It's masterpiece in some moments and the soundtrack is beautiful.

Interesting this one. The book's brilliant, despite being really badly written in terms of style. The film's pretty crap, despite being really stylishly made.

Rule 1 when making a film that relies on simmering sexual tension to drive the plot: don't cast a slightly rough actress in the lead role.

It literally ruined the film.

The film's not crap. Bogey is class.

But yes, the premise of the film being that the bird has such allure that she can string all these blokes along, and the bird looking like a dinner lady, slightly ruined it.

I watched Funny Money the other day. Was expecting a laid back comedy, but what I got was the opposite, too flipping silly for my liking. Although the brunette would get it and so would Penelope Ann Miller, even if she looked well past her sell by day. Oh and Chevy Chase looks weird. Not sure if it was the make-up or some mental cosmetic surgery that he might have had.

6-5/10.

 that's exactly what I said, "she looks like a dinner lady"!

You're right, Bogey carries it. Having recently read the book though, I was very disappointed.

I felt that way about Rebecca. I saw the movie some time after reading the book and felt that Lawrence Olivier didn't quite do justice to Maxim de Winter's role. Still, a great Hitchcock movie.

Been wanting to see Casshern for quite sometime. Haven't gotten a hold of it yet though.

I think You gonna love it.

It's masterpiece.

Japs can do beautiful movies and Casshern is one of them.

Altered

Plot: Fifteen years ago, a group of men's lives were forever changed by a strange occurrence. Now, the same group of men will spend a night together ... in terror.

Basically these rednecks capture an alien. Turns out they were all buttfecked by aliens 15 years ago.

Cheap actors, lousy effects, only one chick.

3 out of 10. Only got 3 because i like aliens. Theyre nice.

Sounds like the minimum penalty for someone telling you to watch that utter pile of fetid dingo's kidneys.

It makes Dodgeball seem like oscar material.

I didn't care much for Blood Diamond. I'm watching The Departed at moment, even though I've seen Infernal Affairs, I'm still finding this a good watch. Although, I'm sure DiCaprio's still doing that silly Sud Afrikaan accent.

Ah. Not seen it.

I have difficulty believing that he has been good in 2 films though.

He was pretty good in his first film when he played a retard but since then he has been dire. He almost ruined a great film in Romeo and Juliet as well.

I haven't seen Blood Diamond but The Departed was really good. I haven't seen Infernal Affairs either but I've heard its pretty good.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Yes, he was brilliant in that.

He was also good in The Aviator, Catch me if you can and Gangs of New York. And brilliant in the Departed. I think he's turned in to one of the finest actors around.

Romeo and Juliet was alright.

That is the problem. Him playing the love interest in Titanic was laughable. He looked about 12.

He's as bad in The Departed. He still looks about 12 but with a goaty. My main gripe with him is that he's too girly to play these types of roles. We'll overlook the fact he can;t do different accents, for a minute. His Bostonian one isn't far off from his South African.

My missus really hates him. Even more than Nicholas Cage who drives her insane.

What a load of bollocks. I suspected with Amores Peros that the guy was a bluffer, but couldn't quite be certain, now I know.

The Maltese Falcon

ditto with the missus. What is it about him? I like him well enough, although he always reminds me of someone doing an Elvis impression for some reason.

Anybody can play a mentally handicapped person easily. All it takes is some observation and a whole lotta alcohol and drugs. Look at DiCraprio's eyes in What's Eating Gilbert Grape and tell me he wasn't constantly hitting the bong.

Method Acting

I heard Depp would just kick the shit out of him before every take. Underneath it all Johnny is a beast

Seen loads of shit movies lately, starting with the ***** Farrell trifecta - The New World(managed about half the movie), Alexander(maybe 30 minutes) and Miami Vice(incredibly all of it). Alexander was easily the worst and that`s saying something. Angelina Jolie as his mum with some weird Russian accent and all the arse banditry made it unwatchable.

Watched Doom this afternoon. Complete gash.
