Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

People think I'm bad on here for slagging off games, some on there are nuts.

And Skyrim is largely a shitty walking simulator, at least the vanilla game is! It should never have been given the Elder Scrolls name, Oblivion was pushing it as it was :(

Skyrim is a joke of a game. I mod it every few months, play for 10 minutes, wonder why I don't play it more often, play for 10 minutes more, and go "that's why."

I also hated Skyrim. There was so much content, still everything just felt shallow. Not to mention the combat.. or story... or voice acting.. etc

Anyhow, RPGCodex is cool in that there are a lot of older gamers with good taste on there. But it's so weird how they all call people "faggot" and such.

Ah shit, Redlambs has a new friend

keep away

Tommy meet my old pal Randall. Have patience with him, he's a sucker for dumbed games.

;)

I think they lord that 'good taste' way too much on there. Some good lads though.

HoD is a classic. 40 winks isn't.
I didn't know HoD used 3D until I saw some glasses in the case, that should be pretty cool.

Condemned is far better than number 2, stick it out despite the slow start.
Cool stuff, will do :)

I think most people accept VI is the better game, but the OST is always up for debate... I just really don't like this battle music.
I don't really mind the battle music, but I guess I can see why some people wont like it.

It doesn't really matter though, the best RPG soundtrack I know of is Secret of Mana

Lads - I just bought a PS4. Any game suggestions? I haven't played most new PS3 games, so remasters etc are welcome too. Or old classics from the PS store.

Resogun is an awesome little title.

Last of us surely? Haven't played it myself yet, mind.

I couldn't stand the PS3 version of TLOU, which is a shootable offence on most forums I've been on

Framerate was horrid, input lag irritating, major gameplay mechanics (crafting, stealth) were all very simplistic.

PS4 version has probably solved the technical issues, though.

I didn't think you could play old classics on the PS4?

Haven't heard of Hogs of War. Will check it out
It's a slightly shit Worms 3D(Although Hogs came out well before Worms 3D I think). With pigs instead of worms and a WW2 sort of setting.

The main positives of the game are it's charm(Rik Mayall doing the voice acting is great)and the nostalgia factor that these types of games have. Overall it's worth a look even if it's just to hear Rik Mayall doing pig grunts.

I honestly don't know a single good games forum. Neogaf is full fanboys of different kinds but it's still good for information on new games and such since it's so popular. Gamespot forums are absolutely horrendous. The Rock Paper Shotgun forums are okay, but rather empty and it's a bit like the opposite of Neogaf where a lot of people there have jaded old gamer-syndrome I feel. RPGCodex is a surreal place full of very angry people. Some of the articles and interviews on their main site are great though.

And so on..

Rllmuk.

Neogaf over the past few years has been getting worse. It's great for getting news though.

I signed up with Rllmuk 2-3 years ago but don't really like to post as it seems like quite a tight community and I'd feel like some stranger barging in  Same with another forum, Bordersdown.net. I recently asked a question there which was ok, but I'd feel a bit weird posting in the more chatty threads.

Haven't visited bordersdown for years. The mods on there are ridiculous as they warn you for just going slightly off topic.

Eurogamer is another one I visit. But it's similar to Rllmuk.

Ah right, haven't looked around enough to see what the mods are like.

I think I'll just stick to here. Never had much luck with dedicated gaming forums.

Ugh, uplay. Ugh modern Rainbow 6.

I really, really hope they've gone back to basics like they've said, but I can't see it comparing to the originals. Hopefully I'm wrong!

It has hitmarkers - Don't get your hopes up

Just got Overboard for the PS1. I used to play it loads on a demo disc that I got with my Playstation. It could be crap these days for all I know, but I used to enjoy it. The music was cool from what I remember, too. Bargain for 99p.
