Gaming The RedCafe General/Random Gaming Chat Thread

Just had a quick Google and that was mentioned on a few PS2 reviews, but I got the Gamecube version, so I don't know if it's the same on that one.
I still need to get round to the Gamecube one day, it's the only reason I still have my Wii connected to the TV. Any suggestions for exclusives, Olly?

Hmm, any I mention are probably going to be the obvious ones. Super Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil, Luigi's Mansion, Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, Star Wars Rogue Leader etc. The other games I like a lot for it are multi-platform games.

There are a few I've been wanting to check out, so I should probably try getting some of those some time.

Me and Lambo were chatting about a game called Geist a year or so ago, that's one I want to try.

Chrono Trigger is 20 years old today (well yesterday, but today sounds better). I haven't completed it yet, but I enjoyed what I have played so far. The main thing I know though, is that the soundtrack is awesome!

Anyone played Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360? I'm playing the demo at the moment and it's a lot of fun. Crazy and hectic, but a lot of fun. I'll probably buy the full game.

Edit: Bought.

One of my all time favourites :)

Yeah it's pretty good. Gets very samey from early on, but that also means it's consistent.

Awesome game!

Despite having time-travel shit (which is one of the biggest things I hate in any kind of entertainment), it is a brilliant game. Actually - thinking twice - I don't think that it bothered me when I played the game.

Anyone getting Battlefield Hardline? I'll be mashing it just not sure which platform yet X1 or PS4

Yeah I can imagine it being samey, but I like that it's all about crazy gameplay, so if it's like that all the way through then I don't mind :)

What don't you like about it? Do you not like Back to the Future?

I really dislike Back to the Future.

You monster!

Any Elder Scrolls fans here? Oblivion is the best game I've ever played. Can't wait for E3 in the summer and Bethesdas press conference.

Just waiting on Hardline to download from the PSN store, if you pay with PayPal today they have a 10 pound off offer making it 44.99 which is decent. Prefer a digital copy on my games console than carrying the disc around.

It must have been awesome to get that for Christmas

I only got it for the first time a couple of years ago but it was totally worth the wait.

Yeah it was the big box version (special edition of some sort IIRC). I must still have it somewhere.

I bought F.E.A.R earlier. It looks like it might be pretty cool.

It's a good game. The sequels went rapidly downhill though (and unsurprisingly dumbed by the third).

I have the small box version, which is apparently quite rare which I didn't know when I bought it, so that's pretty cool. I'd like to get the bix box version with the guide sometime as well but it's quite expensive these days :(

I know nothing about the series so I thought I'd just stick to the first one. Sounds like I made the right choice!

Massive fan of Oblivion and Skyrim, Oblivion probably being myb favourite. Brilliant games.
Do yourself a favour and play Morrowind. Especially with mods.
Might give it a shot myself, wasn't able to get into it previously though :(

If you like Oblivion that much, Morrowind will seem a bit of a shock. But persevere, it's a much better game than the latter two once you get into it, in fact it's one of the best of all time. It's a proper rpg though which is why it can seem daunting, Oblivion was dumbed from it and Skyrim went completely action adventure (though there are some great mods that bring that one back around a little).

Plus you can get mods to help the fighting side, particularly the magic, which update it without taking the charm. It's not for everyone though, but hopefully you can get into it mate as if any game is worth the learning curve, it's Morrowind.

Got a few games while out today. A couple of those being 40 Winks and Heart of Darkness for the PS1. I've heard good things about HoD before, and from what I've seen 40 Winks seems to be average to alright-ish, but I've been wanting to try them both for a while so happy to find them for a quid each.

I'm replaying KOTOR 2 for the first time in 10 years. It's still fun and I enjoy the story a lot even if combat is a bit too basic tactically for an RPG and a bit too boring for an ARPG or TPS game. I have no problem with graphics, especially since I'm playing it with some 1080p mod.

HK-47 is definitely one of my favorite characters in any game I ever played.

Just bought Condemned. Have the second on PS3 but I've only played it once for about ten minutes, but for some reason am really looking forward to trying this one.

After years of stalking on Neogaf, I've come to the conclusion that I'm the only person alive who doesn't like the CT OST. It's a very good game, but I still prefer Final Fantasy VI.

HoD is a classic. 40 winks isn't.

Condemned is far better than number 2, stick it out despite the slow start.

Forget everything you've ever read on that shithole. FF6 is one of the greatest games ever made, I'm a fan of Chrono Trigger, but there are better. It's a bit of a fad on sites like that to all claim to love it.

I honestly don't know a single good games forum. Neogaf is full fanboys of different kinds but it's still good for information on new games and such since it's so popular. Gamespot forums are absolutely horrendous. The Rock Paper Shotgun forums are okay, but rather empty and it's a bit like the opposite of Neogaf where a lot of people there have jaded old gamer-syndrome I feel. RPGCodex is a surreal place full of very angry people. Some of the articles and interviews on their main site are great though.

And so on..

Someone on RPGCodex called Skyrim a "Sh**ty walking simulator," so I'm kinda fond of them, just for that one post alone. They also voted Planescape: Torment as the best CRPG ever made, so hey, at least they know their games
