Kudos to AJ. Good discipline shown to get his weight down to be able to sustain those tactics for 12 rounds, plus actually sticking to the game plan.

Did what he had to do to win. That's pretty much the only way to beat Ruiz.

Cowardly but effective

This is nonsense, there's nothing cowardly about a disciplined boxing performance.

It's on Ruiz to open up to go after him, at no point did he really throw the kitchen sink at Joshua and risk getting hurt himself, would you call him cowardly too?

Very very very shallow victory from AJ.

Parked the bus in the most extreme Mourinho way, and won via a soulless technical victory.

Hope Fury or Wilder smashes the crap out of him.

Think we have just seen AJ evolve significantly as a boxer. Changed his style and physique and comprehensively outboxed the one dimensional Ruiz.

Yeah, i'm not sold on this being 50/50 honestly. Especially not after the weight-in

Think AJ will win comfortably, probably by late stoppage
Was only wrong about the late stoppage, Ruiz has a crazy chin and probably AJ wasn't as powerful as usual because of the weight cut

Still, as i said, easy. Ruiz is a good fighter but he's not this monster people were starting to make him out to be. Just a good fighter who landed the perfect shot against an unprepared opponent

Was really unprofessional for Ruiz to come in 15 pounds heavier , glad he lost.

Its neither entertaining nor impressive imo. But still effective in terms of getting the job done.

He outboxed his opponent in completely 1 sided fashion in a boxing match.

Eh Fury would have done the same. It was boring but effective.

Fury did the same vs Klitchschko. Now I wanna see Fury vs AJ. Ruiz vs Wilder would be good.

Wilder and Fury would have done the same.

Great boxing tonight

Luckily for joshua, all that running around the ring will work for him when he runs away from fighting Wilder and fury for the next few years.

Fury’s an even more disciplined boxer than Joshua was tonight.

People say AJ has a questionable chin and then complain when he refuses to stand inside and trade. Do people want him to try and lose?

It’s like people don’t understand how boxing works

Wouldn't say it was a masterclass, as the commentary team is going on about, its discipline, sticking to basics and conditioning that was the massive factor in this. But nevertheless, probably Joshua's best performance, though one of his least entertaining fights

Boxing ain’t for you

Floyd went 50 fights undefeated fighting like this and he goes down as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Picking your opponent apart and not getting hit is impressive.

I thought it was impressive. He entirely changed his style in one camp and did something his detractors said he couldn’t do.

Pretty much, yeah. There are an awful lot of biases that people are hoping to be confirmed.

The praise through gritted teeth tella you everything.

Omg Hearns going to milk this for a third fight probably in Mexico or Wembley.
