No shame the two losses on his record. But this guy? To a punch he used to put people down with? Talk about piss on your legacy.

Still let's hope he really does call it quits now and focuses on promoting and training and doesn't completely lose it again.

Shame to see Hatton like that....tough coming back against an awkward guy like that after 3+ years.

Interesting to see what he does now. Hope he doesn't lose his way again.

Really didnt fancy Ricky tonight. Its not like the fella he was fighting was a mug either...

It completely unraveled for him after the fourth round. I thought he was shading each round up to that point through workrate even though he looked ragged. After that Senchenko timed him easily.

That interview was grim viewing. Why the feck the interviewer dragged it out like that is beyond me. Really felt for Hatton at that point. feck knows what happens to the guy now. I was hoping he could eek out a decision here, and maybe end his career on a high against someone like Junior Witter. As it stands now he shouldn't enter the ring again, and God only knows what'll happen to him outside the ring.

They are right this guy was hand picked for a Hatton win and it backfired on him badly.
I can see why he wanted to end with a win, but this lose against this fighter is a bad one.

Senchenko ain't no turkey, he has only lost one fight and is a former holder of a version of the world title. He was stopped by Malignaggi last time out on a TKO, a swelling on the eye. Quite a few boxing writers thought that he was too tough a fight for a Hatton come back after three years.

Sadly Hatton in his prime would of beat this guy with ease, you are right he was no Turkey, Hatton was advised badly, he should not of got back in the ring.he needs close monitoring now, his head is not in a good place.

I agree that Hatton should never have come back and he really should retire now. There are studies that link depression to athletes who have suffered concussions/head blows in their careers. Boxing is notorious for the spectacular and dark downfalls of many a fighter after they retire, lets hope that Hatton is not another casualty.

I think in hindsight his camp will know he went too big too soon, that much was clear when he was tired after 4 rounds and missing a huge amount of his shots. Honestly if he had taken an easier warmup fight he might have made a comeback work, don't think the skillset is there anymore regardless.

He needs to realise that it's over for him and move on to something else.

He had a fine career, and was a very worthy champion, one of the best fighters of his era, but not of all time, there's no shame in that and he certainly isn't a failure, sort of sad that he seems to see himself as that.

He's gone from one of the best around who could match up with one of the all-time greats to someone who's a running joke. Should take up a new hobby, like commentating, or managing Chelsea, or something like that.

Ricky Hahaha Hatton. What a joke, should've stayed away whilst he had half a reputation left.

Anyone with half a brain won't allow this to cloud their perception of his boxing legacy that much. In his prime he built up a very respectable resume and only lost to two all-time greats in Mayweather and Pacquaio. He won't be remembered as an all-time great, but he was a very good, gutsy fighter.

if only he didn't binge and get on the gear out of training, he might of just taken the step up to the top. I don't think it's any suprise that getting so fat and then slimming down for fights takes his tole. You look at mayweather and pacquaio they are in shape 100% of the time.

I think really this loss is a nice coupe de grace for him, he showed he has heart but not the body for it anymore, nobody can continue forever.

I doubt it. His style is always one that will come up short against elite technicians like Mayweather and he didn't have the 'natural' gifts of Pacquiao, in speed and power.

I would fully expect him to get voted into the HOF regardless.

This is more encouraging from Ricky.

"I'm a happy man tonight," Hatton said. "I don't feel like putting a knife to my wrists. I have got the answers I needed. I got the opportunity and I got the answers and no matter how upsetting it is, I have got to be a man and say, 'It is the end of Ricky Hatton.'

I found all of it as painful to watch (the inevitability of the result; the 'fans'; the bloody heartless post-fight interviewer going that extra mile in search of tears & controversy etc etc) as the Eubank/Watson & Benn/ McClellan tragedies...and that's really saying something. Boxing is brutal, and I'm not talking about the actual sport. And how, when everyone from red-top readers to experts were aware that Hatton has genuine problems, did the man get a boxing licence? I've enjoyed watching the sport for years but the whole circus surrounding it is bloody horrible nonetheless.

If he passes the stringent medical checks are you going to tell him that he doesn't have the right to earn millions of pounds in a prize fight?

He is a grown man and he is free to make these choices.

Glad he has now said he will retire. He was a fearless fighter who had an impressive career. May have been well beaten by Mayweather and Pacman, but at least he never ducked a fight, which is more than you can say about a lot of so-called greats.

Everyone should get a boxing license if they are medically fit and not 60, Rocky Balboa said so.

I see this ending in defeat for Andrew Flintoff but I hope he wins, he is taking a big chance trying something new but has always came across as a likeable man, was a great Cricketer for England and a Lancashire lad.

I don't get why some people want him to fail so much. Sure if he was coming into the sport to mock it, or not taking it seriously, but he seems to be going for it. Fair play to him.

That being said, I fully expect to see him on his arse.
