The RedCafe Boxing Thread

Most newspapers, LA Times etc have it 117 - 111 to Pac..

Internets going crazy about this saying it's fixed, pretty much every single website ive been on had it 117 - 111. Genuine corruption.

Shit like this is why MMA is growing so fast.

If I cared about boxing I'd be upset. I saw someone compare it to the 1972 Olympic Basketball final. I would piss on William Jones's grave if I knew where it was and I wasn't even alive in 1972. It's almost 3am and thinking about that just pissed me off.

 Apparently the fighter who lands significantly less and gets hit harder and clearly gets his ass whooped is the winner.

Absolute disgrace. There might be a few explanations for this result, bribery though is the most sensible one.

All the media seems to have it that way - unfortunately we have retards/corrupted wankers in charge of the decision.

Even Floyd Mayweather Sr thinks Pacman won...

Pretty much every power shot came from Pacquiao, all of Bradley's 'punches' were just incredibly soft jabs with no snap behind them. He would never have knocked Pac out and wasn't even trying to, he was just keeping him at bay with a weak jab.

Bradley is an awful fighter, Pac just completely went into comfort mode in rounds 9 10 11 and barely threw punches, giving the rounds to Bradley who kept flicking an awful jab out, Pacquiao clearly thought he was as far ahead as we all did.

I'm 100% sure that Kahn would beat Bradley.

That was a disgrace to the sport. It was far too concrete that pac man one every round bar maximum of 3 that there is no way he should have lost that fight, for it to even be some sort of debate is madness, it was total domination and Bradley was outclassed and spent the whole fight running.

Well thats what i thought but I also thought Bradley could have stolen rounds 2&8, Pac man was so dominant between 3 and 7 he could have took him out at any point if he upped his game and either he was to casual or his stamina doesn't allow him to go flat out after guys for the full 3 mins anymore. I do believe Pac won this fight but I remember saying before the 12th (admittedly the stream i was watching wasn't great) that because of 2,8,9,10,11 that a good 12th could see him sneak a draw although I wasn't sure he would get that. the judges obviously saw it similar but managed to award Bradley the 1st & 12th which i believe Pac won but he should never have put himself in that position and just knocked Bradley down atleast on one of the occasions he had him rocked.

It's like you scoring more goals but your opponent being declared the 'winner'. Corrupt to the core.

Thats just bull shit, Like I have already said I believe Pac won but boxing scoring is not comparable to scoring in football, if you fail to land a knock out like in this case it's more like match play golf. Pac Man twatted Bradley for 5 rounds and totally dominated but did not do enough to win by a 10-8 margin so he was only awarded a round for each, I think although he never dished out a beating to pac man Bradley probably done enough to win 5 rounds (2,8,9,10, 11) obviously the judges give him round 1 & 12 and if i'm been honest some of the rounds I give Bradley was equally as close so could have went in his favour.

Drunken talk over the point i'm making is that them stats are meaningless because it's scored on a round by round basis so it doesn't matter how many times he lands and dominates in 3,4,5,6,7 if he gives up (even just slightly) rounds 2,8,9,10,11

Once again for the record before anyone jumps on me I believe Pac Man won he just made it a lot closer and more open to opinion than a lot would like to make out.

And does anyone believe his thing about delaying the fight may have pissed judges off and make them rule close rounds in Bradley's favour?

Don't think Bradley won more than one round, it was not even close, but that's just my opinion. With the exception of maybe one or two rounds, Bradley kept getting hit by Manny's punches many more times than Manny got hit with anything Bradley thew - and not to mention Pacman's punches were much more powerful and damaging. So on what basis can you award Bradley so many rounds?

Pacman's dominance and victory in this fight was more obvious than some of Mayweather's fights.

Rounds 2-9 Pac won convincing to me.

Round one was open for debate but Bradley was cracked 3 times right near the end with bigger punches than he managed all night.

Weird scoring whether you score based on punches, power, ringmanship or anything else I can think of other than maybe being able to take a lot of shots without going down.

Never knew that was a point winner.

I doubt I will bother staying up till daft o'clock again unless its Mayweather V Pac.

Who cares, Mannys robbed Marquez THREE TIMES, and there was a huge outcry about 2, if not all 3 of them.....but now it's on Manny.....karma.

Floyd wins, as always. Mannys been softening ever since the whole "do a test" thing anyway, dudes crazy talented, but it's crazy that he battered a few guys, though two in Hatton/DLH were crashed, and he's basically now just a points fighter.

It's since he took his eye off the ball and decided to become a politician rather than a full time boxer. You can never be a sportsman at the top of your game when being distracted like that.

He was involved in politics when he was peaking and he has always had many things on his plate besides boxing.

This is the first fight that he has officially lost in seven years and he was operating at world class level before that, he is aging, he seems to have lost that killer instinct and seems slightly jaded. I don't think that his extreme God bothering is a good sign either, he is coming to the end of the road in my opinion.

I think that it is official that Mayweather - Pac has lost its sheen once and for all.

Actually, Manny was officially robbed of winning the first fight, regardless if you think Marquez should have won, as one of the judges scored the first round 10-7 rather then 10-6 and later admitted to his error.

On a side note......this is fecking hilarious and pathetic.

LAS VEGAS -- A judge in Las Vegas said she'll decide later this week whether to ease jail conditions for Floyd Mayweather Jr., after his lawyers argued that the undefeated champion is getting out of shape in solitary confinement and may never fight again.

Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa made no immediate ruling Tuesday on an emergency motion asking the court to move Mayweather into the general jail population -- something that jail officials had avoided out of fear for the celebrity's safety -- or put him in house arrest for the rest of his three-month sentence.

Mayweather lawyer Richard Wright said he'd be willing to have the boxer serve the sentence in an apartment or somewhere less luxurious than Mayweather's posh Las Vegas-area home.

"I'm not looking for special treatment for Floyd Mayweather," Wright said. "I'm looking for fair treatment."

But prosecutor Lisa Luzaich said softening the sentence would be just another accommodation, similar to when Mayweather's jail surrender date was postponed for months after sentencing so he could fight Miguel Cotto in May.

"They keep chipping away, chipping away, chipping away," Luzaich said.

Mayweather pleaded guilty in December to misdemeanor domestic battery and no contest to two harassment charges that stemmed from an attack on his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched. He was sentenced to three months and entered the jail June 1.

Mayweather's jail stay will be capped at 87 days because the judge gave him credit for three days previously served. It could be reduced by several weeks for good behavior.

In the motion, which was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, lawyers say Mayweather's personal physician, Dr. Robert Voy, visited the jail Friday and was concerned the 35-year-old fighter appeared to have lost muscle tone.

Voy estimated the boxer was consuming fewer than 800 calories a day -- a drop from his usual 3,000 or 4,000 calories -- and wasn't drinking enough because he isn't allowed bottled water and doesn't usually drink tap water.

Mayweather has been getting a little more than 30 minutes twice a day in a couple of barren recreation areas in the administrative segregation unit. His cell, no larger than 7-by-12 feet, has barely enough floor space for pushups and situps.

But prosecutors argued he's "deconditioning" by choice, and declining much of his food.

"He has the ability to exercise, he just chooses not to," Luzaich said. "It's jail. Where did he think he was going? The Four Seasons?"

Voy and Wright also pointed to Mayweather's declining emotional state.

"I am concerned about Floyd withdrawing, developing anger he cannot dissipate through the usual means of dedicated exercise and training," Voy wrote in an affidavit. "Boxing has been Mr. Mayweather's life since he was a young man and we need champions of this type to continue to their natural retirement and hopefully their contributions to society thereafter."

I'm going to go with no more PEDs and his stupid devotion to religion over the last year or so.

Scott Quigg fighting on sky sports 1 now against Rendall Munroe. Hoping for a tear up, Scott is an aggressive fighter.

Edit - feck sake, accidental clash of heads, so called off no contest. Was a growing into a good fight aswell.

God sake Victor Ortiz pounded Josesito Lopez for 9 rounds then quit on the stool with a broken jaw. Looked suspect to me as he was moving it to talk and smile at the end but the look of disbelief when his corner called it he looked like he didn't know why!
Just means now he can't fight Saul Alvarez on 15th September. Maybe his jaw is really broke but didn't think he'd be chatting away and smiling, thought he'd be speaking like a ventriloquist.
Broken jaw or strategic avoidance of a fight the powers that be advised him not to have?

He's a bit weird is Ortiz. If you see his interview after the Mayweather fight he didn't really look angry or upset at how the fight ended in fact he looked pretty happy about it.

I don't know whether he was punch drunk or thinking about the money but he really didn't seem too bothered about things.

Matthyssee vs. Soto was some fight, not much art to it but a good fecking brawl.

^^ Only got round to watching Soto-Matthysse last night. Top fight, as expected.

Matthysse is only ever in good fights, really, he's one of the most entertaining boxers around. Underrated, too. Shame he got fecked over by the Judah and Alexander decisions (he won both IMO) because his CV would be looking quite tidy right now if you added those 2 names to Soto's.

Dunno who promotes him, but just get him in there with Maidana, or maybe Rios when he moves up. Guaranteed fight of the year right there.

What channel is Kel Brook on this weekend lads?

Great night of boxing on. All three fights are potentially brilliant.

 fecking hell, Jones's manager put £20,000 on him to win.

Great fight so far, Kell boxing flawlessly but Jones is as tough as they come. Just keeps coming foward! Turning it into a war that Kell isnt used to.

Just lost round 7.

Amazing fight. Carson jones is a fecking machine, how is he taking some of these punches and still coming foward.

This Fury fight is hilarious, where did they find this Maddalone guy? I've seen more technique in a cabage.
