The Reality Draft: Main Thread (Finals)

Simonsen has a better shot at GOAT as a wingforward than most of those forwards do as strikers. He got a Ballon d'Or for starters, which most of these so-called GOATs never did.

Re: Bochini, that's the entire point. A player Maradona himself bowed to is someone you should all definitely know about and at least one of us will need to research extensively and tell us all he found out. That used to be half the fun in the drafts and it has been completely replaced by draft mechanics and the challenge of getting the usual suspects despite mechanics.
We should do a vintage one for that. Reckon a full fledged 40s one with 16 teams, like the 50s, 60s 70s ones. Those were the ones who brought out these gems.

I won't officially take his place because he'll probably want to play more than me. But in the interests of letting the game go ahead I'll block and pick the relevant players. That doesn't affect chester seeing as it's random, so I'm sure he won't mind.

Block - Rummenigge

DOF
Forward - Del Piero
Midfielder - Tardelli
Defender - Cannavaro

Legacy - Solskjaer

Poor Kalle, never gets a break in these :(

Go on, join up, I even sent you a pigeon ;)

Sure, you can hand over to him once he is back...probably be his Scout!
Thanks for pitching in interim!

I don't think those players fit in the DoF pools anto. :p From my understanding the DoF pool wasnt for players who dont get the fair due but for those who would be a strength for a team they are drafted to in terms of quality and vote. And are generally heavyweights of the game.

I've already listed all the players I would happily get them ahead of. You would be much stronger with a top flexible wing/inside forward than a cnut of a striker to fit in who defines your entire tactical setup, and there's plenty of those.

Why would you block Rummenigge @Theon ? I don't remember him having a single great game in any draft ever, surely he's not one of the top16 vote winners? He also went unpicked in Annah's auction draft with the point system, if I'm not mistaken. Poor Kalle :(

I was looking forward to the challenge of fitting him and selling him properly :( Even had the entire tactical setup in mind if he came my way :annoyed:

Mind, he was part of the winning team in the 50s draft, but largely played as a winger there. We actually had a mighty battle with Breitner guarding that flank as a wingback of sorts.

As you all know, I'm fond of oldies and players that don't get their fair dues having a shot :D

Blocked: Paolo Maldini, the right-winger kryptonite that single-handedly attacks, shores up the defence, covers everyone, and keeps Garrincha in his pocket while at it.

DoF Interference Forward: Allan Simonsen
DoF Interference Midfielder: Ricardo Bochini
DoF Defender: Oscar Ruggeri

Legacy Pool: Fernando Morena

Nice strategy there, I can see what you are doing. Most of us aren't going to enjoy getting these players and you won't mind getting them yourself. Real sly :D

@Edgar Allan Pillow Shouldn't Enzo Francescoli be reconsidered for the legacy pick? Just think he is too good for that category but perhaps isn't really good enough for the GOAT category as well either so it's debatable.

 I'll add more to that. I was considering others who I didn't particularly want so was happy for anyone to get, but then realised others would likely spend a pick on them anyway, while I wouldn't, better to leave them in the general pool then. :smirk:

It's @Stobzilla call mate. Pool nominations are dicey and choices may give someone else a big advantage/disadvantage as this is random allocation. I can try to average it out on mediocre players, but 'too good' is a very debatable opinion. What is nominated stays in this case.

Francescoli shits on half the GOATs in this. My muppet dream was getting him legacy and Rummenigge DoF forward, I could then play a trident and play any random striker who would still fill his boots all day long

Keep him there though, it's a reality draft and reality has both bumps and windfalls along the way.

OK, Can we kick start this now?

I'll get someone neutral to randomize the managers order first and the Legacy pool next. The 2nd pick can start tomorrow at noon GMT and hopefully by that time the 3 replacements would be in.

Begin?
I can do that, if it starts within the next hour.

I hate Annah for being that incredibly lucky all the time

Going fifth ain't too bad, would have to be very unlucky for one of my first round picks not to be available.

Come on Balu, give me Enzo, not Inmenso.

EAP has the legacy list via PM. I don't really know why I wasn't allowed to post it, seems like he has something special planned for the presentation. There are a few nice combinations though.

feck me, I can't stand half those chaps. Come on Enzo/Phillip, come to pappa!

Getting picture with the incredible slow internet in office is quite the pain. So we will settle for text and you can imagine the drumworks and confetti.

:boring:

@Balu, I hope the nice combinaation isn't what I'm thinking. :nervous:

 There are many important and valid reasons

1) I wanted pics, but now discarded the idea as too much work.
2) I want to drag this out in the name of suspense
3) I want to increase my post count.
4) I want to stamp my authority on this draft. My way or highway.

It will be more fun if Balu does it going forward. Even for you as a playing manager!
