The Reality Draft: Main Thread (Finals)

Gonna take a gamble and draft a Liverpool icon.....let's see how the backlash pans out.

I already have Stevie G, so it must be

I remember seeing that, but I was still trying to digest getting Raúl and not Stoichkov. The moment Rivaldo went all I could hope for was having that tactical/selection headache, may even have gone for a WM with Hristo upfront. I'm warming to Raúl though, just need a little help from Tevezbola and I'll be flying.

Tevezbola, christ. Not looking forward to that one. I can see a few meltdowns there, that's for sure - seems the most brutal of all the rounds.

Aye, thought Jayvin did very nicely as well with Romario and Inieta's passing. Rivaldo was a tough one, great player but we're going to have to get a touch creative I think to get them all in. There's some overlap there with the rest of the forwards.

All I see is great players. I've no idea how they would play together, but I trust you'll work it out.
I've gone totally left field. Will probably bomb out in the first round but can't see a bog standard 4-3-3 or diamond getting much love. I hope Pirlo goes back to Argentina

That's the beauty of having nothing to lose I suppose. I can only see opportunities.

I'd say Jayvin is only second to VivaJ right now in the "Would rather avoid" ranking.

I did find the Dalglish pick odd with Bochini there and a possible AM/IF coming your way. I would argue you should forget about playing Dalglish in the next round altogether.

I would absolutely love Pirlo on our team :(

Next draft, when its a bit easier and not so tricky with all the tough rounds I'd love to build a Pirlo based side.

@Stobzilla

The moment I saw Barnes come up I knew his days were numbered. Balls.

That's who I was talking about before by the way, when I said he could fit the WM of the defenders available - seeing as he's proficient at right back.

Something like Junior -- ALLOCATED TOP CB -- McGrath

For the 100th time?

That only happened once, in the other he got shafted in the first round for Maradona

But really, I'd love to go all the way with it - Something like this, actually free Matthaus up to play offensively for once, instead of being the teams DM all the time!

---- DAVIDS ------ MATTHAUS ---
------------- PIRLO -------

I didn't realise you meant him.

You got lucky there, had I got RvN/Batistuta or anyone that made WM still an option he was my next pick (i.e. my last one). I thought he could be the central guy though and if a Sammer/Scirea/similar came around I could play him right and still play WM, let alone a four man backline.

That's cheating. A bit like Francescoli---CENTREFORWARD---Rummenigge :annoyed:

I thought so too - I absolutely love the idea of it.

The great thing is that he lasts as well, in terms of getting picked up early. In an AllTime draft I'd go Matthaus as 1st pick (as he would get snapped up) but Pirlo could well last till 5th or 6th.

I think he's brilliant - the funny thing about these drafts is that often times not enough is actually made of the player and how he fits the system. The impact players have often is just based on their reputation - for instance in that team above, I can't imagine a better set up for Pirlo to shine. If I were betting, I'd say that he would have the best game on the pitch with those players next to him, despite being a 5th or 6th round pick in an AllTime draft

Bah it is a pain in the ass to nail down a tactic with another DoF and then tevebola looming large. I have a setup in mind but then if I get a particular type of defender instead of another I'd be fecked.

Looks like he's drafted without any limitations at all pretty much.

More to the point, he is the only one who seems to follow the draft's logic, i.e. his own picks are inferior/a level below the players he has been randomly allocated. Bar Jayvin and Stobz, who aren't as clear cut, the rest of us seem to do better by picking ourselves than getting "GOATs" allocated.

 It's brutal

That's why I didnt think the WM was too likely to be pulled off, it's such a risky set up when in all likelihood something is going to go tits up with your team, at one stage or another.

Anybody else having like a self defense mechanism over this draft? I won't expect anything or get too attached until the Tevezbola round is over.

You tell me... when I had the Magyars I got stuck in a situation were only three players would "complete me" as in the tactic being sound and with the right players in all positions (I had one clear weak point, maybe two overall). Of course, everyone was after those players as they are great in ANY setup as well, and only one of the three was available at all before the final.

I remember doing reinforcements and picking players for the hell of it as none of them were of any real use anyway

That could be a bit of an equalizing round for some. If some teams lose their best player, or a player that ruins their tactic if missing...and anto gets rid of some deadwood....then it could make things interesting.

I can see some meltdowns, that's for sure. If we lost Souness for instance, it'd be disarray.

:drool::drool:

I can't see how anyone cannot love Pirlo. He's brilliant
It's not about loving or hating him, even you won't disagree that he's a player who has to played in specific setups with particular style of players around him, and that's a problem when you are getting players out of a hat with a randomizer.

Even now if you give me all next picks of my choice and remove the DoF defender aspect, I can try to work out something, but not with not having knowledge what I will get (and what I will lose in tevezbola).
