I hope we're in for him. He's a quality LB, and can also do a job as a defensive midfielder.
Most clubs in Europe would be in for Coentrao but Spurs would be the ideal location as he's miles better than Assou-Ekotto. Spurs should demand him in the Bale deal.
Did Modric start the game or play any part of it?
He only started because Alonso was injured. Played okay though. Its not an impossible signing.
It will be impossible if we behave the way we did this summer and put in a pathetic offer. Unlimited budget, total bollocks from Woodward.
Yeah I think we can forget all about Modric, unfortunately.
According to the Mirror (so it's bollocks) Modric wants to become our "Star Summer Signing" ... as I say though, it's almost certainly made up nonsense.
At the moment, Modric is the (seemingly, possibly available) player who I'd like us to aquire the most, but yeah, doubt it will happen.
I'd take all 3 of them.
Not good enough to play as a midfielder for us long term imo maybe as a left back though would be good .Personally, I'd go for Coentrao and see if we can play him defensive midfield. He can and has played there for Madrid in the past so if we could convert him, that would be the most ideal in my opinion. Worse comes to worst, he's cover for Evra.
Ozil, Contraeo and Di Maria for £70-£80 million would strengthen us in a lot of key areas (Left wing/Left back and a Rooney replacement)... and we could sign a midfielder the year after, get rid of deadwood like Young too - it is a pipedream though, if we get one signing I'll be pleasantly surprised this summer.
Sounds like a fair fight. One at a time or all at once?
so, you'd like us to spend 70-80m but still not strengthen the one area that we're most in need of strengthening in?
My goodness.
Sounds like a fair fight. One at a time or all at once?
Whoosh! That's nasty jojojo. And I like that with women. I'm single for 2 and a half weeks now btw.
Buying Ozil and Coentrao would make so much sense.
An update based on last night's match, the highlights show. Now Granada are a firmly mediocre team but one who are tough to play at home. Goalless draws and single goal margins are normal there, even for big teams.
Alonso, Illarramendi and Khedira are all out injured. So they started with Isco and Modric as a midfield two. At least I hope it was a midfield two because Ronaldo, Ozil, Di Maria in front of them didn't seem to be playing there. That said, Ozil and Di Maria played well. Great touch, great movement, they just looked very good going forward but the second goal didn't come. In the first half Madrid looked decent but in the second they looked in danger.
Ancelotti substituted Ozil at 60 minutes, Casemiro came on for stability, Ozil looked mightily pissed off, disappointed, angry, something. He subbed Di Maria off near the end to protect the three points, I think Di Maria understood.
If you had to guess who is for sale. Modric isn't, he's vital cover for Alonso and will be a starter even with Alonso back. Ozil and Di Maria know they are either in the shop window or playing for a place but neither of them has officially asked to leave as yet - Coentrao who has asked to leave, was left in Madrid.
That's all good and well but you haven't responded to my post at all jojojo which leaves me angry and confused.
Aww, bless.
